After independence this town became a part of the erstwhile PEPSU state( Patiala and East Punjab State Union). The building was also converted into a Food Testing Laboratory for a short period of time. Subsequently, as the need for college was felt, this building again opened its arms and was notified as Government Degree College in December 2015. The foundation stone of the college was laid on December 30,2016 by the then Chief Minister, Late Shri Virbhadra Singh. The Institution is located on the lush green hill known as Sirinagar.
