Stop, Look, Listen: Incoming Tr a i n ? , a n e w p e r m a n e n t exhibition on railway safety p ro d u ce d by E x p o ra i l, t h e in collaboration with Operation Lifesaver, was inaugurated on April 28, 2016, in the presence of public figures from the world of transportation and municipal life as well as from the culture, tourism and media industries.

2 Vol. 14 Number 1 January 2017 Newsletter Joined by their parents, young visitors take on the role of apprentice locomotive engineer, using their imagination, senses and motor skills to complete eight challenges. It teaches them to detect danger when approaching train tracks and to recognize the s a f e t y s i g n s a n d d e v i c e s surrounding them.

Presented at Exporail's Hays t r a i n s t a t i o n a s a n interactive course with railroad-themed decor, f a c i l i t a t e s t h e u n d e r s t a n d i n g a n d a p p l i ca t i o n o f s a f e t y messages. This initiative promoted by CN is intended primarily for children aged 3 to 7 years old and their p a r e n t s . I t a i m s t o encourage families to be vigilant around railway tracks and to teach young children to safe practices near railway facilities.

Museum Day Sunday, May 29 , 2016, we welcomed 2600 visitors and their families who enjoyed our activities and several rides aboard a vintage Streetcar!

Kitchen space During these two days, children participated in a special activity called “The Steward and his Kitchen Brigade” and learned what tasks were carried out by various members of the team aboard dining cars.

In conjunction with our Meals on Wheels exhibition, on July 16 and 17, 2016, Exporail welcomes visitors to visit the kitchens on four railways vehicles which was accessible to the public, exceptionally on this occasion.

4 Vol. 14 Number 1 January 2017 Newsletter A Streetcar Picnic On Sundays June 12, 19 and 26, 2016, Exporail offered its visitors a unique opportunity in Québec: a ride aboard the vintage streetcar 1959 and a picnic! Colourful picnic tables were set up amid the green Exporail landscape ready to welcome guests to a country railroad getaway!

While folksinger Hugues Leduc (song and guitar)accompanied them, visitors boarded a 1928 streetcar and headed for one of three picnic areas located near scheduled stops.

A Great Passion for Model Trains

On August 20 and 21, 2016, over twenty exhibitors from Quebec and Ontario presented their model trains to the public in the Angus Pavilion. Like every year, members of the Quelug Team shared their passion with visitors. This event attracted over 1,850 visitors this year!

Newsletter Vol. 14 Number 1 January 2017 7 Christmas Railway

From November 18, 2016 to January 8, 2017, Exporail, the Canadian Railway Museum transported its visitors into the Magic of Christmas. Many vehicles were decorated and illuminated in the Grand Gallery. Under the Christmas tree, a model electric train was exhibited and a lot of activities were proposed to visitors. A few of them even met Santa !
