DNC Annual Meeting Wednesday, June 16 at 8:30am via GoToWebinar Downtown Norfolk Council invites you to join us for our 2021 Virtual Annual Meeting, presented by TowneBank. The meeting will be held via GoToWebinar, with Keynote Speaker Michael D. Smith, Senior Managing Director, Real Estate for Streetsense, and special recognition of the Peter G. Decker Jr. Downtowner of the Year Award. Register here. HRT GoPass365 Savings Program DNC has entered into an agreement with HRT to make the HRT GoPass365 available for a deeply discounted annual cost of $225 per pass. The purchase of your HRT GoPass365 through DNC will protect you from any pending rate changes through June 30, 2022. Any business or organization located in Downtown Norfolk or DNC member businesses that have employees that use any of HRT’s services for transportation are eligible. If you work Downtown and use any of HRT’s services but your business does not pay for transportation, you can purchase individually through DNC. Classical Mystery Tour: The Music of the Beatles Wednesday, June 16 at 7:30pm at Chrysler Hall Classical Mystery Tour, the premier Beatles tribute band, joins the Symphony Orchestra in a show The Los Angeles Times called “More than just an incredible simulation – a live performance with a high goose-bump quotient.” The four musicians in Classical Mystery Tour look and sound just like John, Paul, George, and Ringo as they perform fifty years of timeless Beatles hits from “Meet the Beatles” to “Abbey Road.”

Summer Nights at Thursday, June 17 from 5pm-8pm at Nauticus Enjoy $7.57 admission to Nauticus with access to their new summer exhibit, Going Places, live music by MOER and drinks and eats on the Big Wisky Porch. Waterways to Freedom Tour Saturday, June 19 from 9:30am-11am, Meeting at Fountain Park Join Dr. Cassandra Newby-Alexander, author of Waterways to Freedom, on historic June 19th for a walking tour of Underground Railroad sites in Downtown Norfolk. The tour begins at Fountain Park next to the BB&T building at 500 E. Main Street. Be sure to register online and wear comfortable walking shoes. Family Day: A Juneteenth Celebration Saturday, June 19 from 10am-3pm at Chrysler Museum of Art Honor African Americans past and present who fought for freedom during the Chrysler Museum of Art’s Juneteenth celebration. Learn about the history of Juneteenth during performances by the Virginia African American Cultural Center. Enjoy live outdoor music by Hot Gumbo Brass Band. Juneteenth in the Park Saturday, June 19 from Noon-5pm at Town Point Park Join Norfolk Festevents for a Juneteenth Celebration in Town Point Park, including cultural outreach, family activities, health and financial wellness education opportunities, on-site COVID vaccinations, live music, presentations, and more. Juneteenth Solstice Festival Saturday, June 19 from Noon-10pm at Smartmouth Brewing Company In honor and celebration of Juneteenth, Smartmouth is throwing an outdoor block party on June 19 full of music, food, art, and lots of beer! Work in Progress at Hermitage Museum & Gardens This summer the Hermitage Museum & Gardens has brought together 13 muralists to share their distinct viewpoints on critical issues at the forefront of the national conversation. Work in Progress: 13 Murals for Right Now explores the power of murals to catalyze change during a historic time of turmoil and confusion in the country. On view now through October 3, the exhibition seeks to highlight the individual platforms of each artist while expanding the greater conversation of social justice in our community.
