July 2018 AFNeT PLM Committee : STEP Framework 3 ISO standards added value PLM Committee

ISO provides a consensus building platform ISO standards are applicable worldwide n Worldwide participation of stakeholders n Full documentation available § Integration of industrial requirements § Working group which define the direction of n In global supply-chains standards

n For international trade n Vendor independent

n For quality compliant processes n Audit and traceability of decisions § meeting resolutions

n Decisions taken by National Bodies votes § each country has the same weight STEP is fully under ISO management n High quality standards

n Ensure compatibility

n Remove redundancy

July 2018 AFNeT PLM Committee : STEP Framework 4 ISO collaboration with Trade associations and industrial Consortiums PLM Committee

nStrong standards need strong industrial contributions:

nISO validation cycle is very fast when consensus is achieved through collaboration on the committees drafts before entering the ISO standardization process.

nTrade associations and Industry consortiums have established liaisons with ISO Committees and contribute to the committee work program by assigning experts to the committee projects.

July 2018 AFNeT PLM Committee : STEP Framework 5 Conclusion PLM Committee nSTEP covers all industrial design, manufacturing and maintenance use cases nSTEP is always evolving to support new industrial requirements nSTEP is fully compliant with ISO processes and standards §Fully documented, vendor independent, compatible, leverage existing standards nSTEP is widely implemented by software vendors §All major ISVs have STEP interfaces , multiple STEP toolkits available from third parties and opensource nSTEP is widely deployed in industry
