Tracks like "Mountain Access" make me think about driving around Hamilton, Ontario, my home as of a year ago. I hope people can still get a chance to walk around with this on headphones or daydream while listening to this project" - Ryan Hemsworth. Limited edition first pressing on coke bottle clear vinyl. The Jahari Massamba Unit features Madlib on all instrumentation with the exception of drums, which are laid down by Karriem Riggins. Like Madlib, Riggins is well-versed in both the Jazz and Hip Hop worlds. Musically, Madlib's label says: "we would call the project Spiritual Jazz, but jazz great Phil Ranelin told us to call it Black Classical Music, so that’s what we’re going with". This is an album put together by students of jazz in its myriad and historic forms who are also proponents of jazz's future. The resulting recording reflects a lifetime of record collecting, musical study, woodshedding, and a reverential respect for one another's craft. Regardless of categorization, this is an exciting and all-new entry in Madlib's Yesterday's New Quintet canon of difficult to categorize music.

The Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals in San Francisco ruled that Diamond Multimedia's Rio player does not, as the RIAA claimed, violate the Audio Home Recording Act of 1992. The RIAA's appeal was the result of alower-court ruling that rejected the organization's October lawsuit, which alleged that the player violated the 1992 law. The Act requires makers of digital audio recorders to use technology that prevents the re-record- ing of copyrighted music. The court stated that the Act does not apply to the Rio player, because the device does not function primarily as a recorder. The court also said that the players were exempt from the Act since the digital files that Rio downloads come from computer hard drives, and not directly from DATs or CDs.

  • Deftones Discography and Songlist
deftones discography and songlist I’ve been a Deftones fanatic for years now. A recordstore in Amsterdam was selling ‘Adrenaline’ after it just came out and were promoting it by putting a small handwritten sticker on the cover saying ‘For fans of Helmet’. Maybe I have to be thankfull to the person who put the sticker on it, cuz it made me buy it and ever since that moment I’ve been hooked on Deftones and everything about them. After a few cancellations in 1996 the band finally did their first European Tour in 1997, also the first time I saw them live. That even proved me more that this band was something special and from that moment on I bought every t-shirt and every item which had to do with the band. In 1999 me and my long-time buddy Thijz, a Deftones fan also, build a website (www.dutchdeftones.com R.I.P.) to expose all the stuff we knew and own about the band and share it with other fans. Other fans could send in photo’s and information to make the site a great source for more fans. By that time another great fansite was born called www.deftonesworld.com. That website is still alive and is maintained by my Portugese pal Nuno Rolinho. Also de fansite is still famous for being the best website/source for Deftonesfans out there. I will be honest to say that I thought that the power and energy, the first Deftones live performances where famous for, died a little round 2001 but still, on recordings Deftones remained an outstanding, fresh band, re-inveniting themselves all the time.
