Welcome to 2016 MAXXIS TKM Festival

Est. 1959

Kimbolton, the home of Hunts Club Kimbolton MAXXIS Formula TKM Festival 2016 Welcome Dear Formula TKM Driver On behalf of Tal-Ko Racing, Maxxis Tyres and the Hunts Kart Racing Club we have pleasure in welcoming you to the 2016 Maxxis Kimbolton TKM Festival. Last year we welcomed back the prestigious ABkC ‘O’ plates and they were hotly contested. Expect more of the same this weekend with our unique format allowing 2 drivers to take part separately in ‘O’ plate and the traditional Festival events. Once again we have full Motors TV coverage for the event being beamed to 200m homes across the world. That coverage will include a look at some of our top drivers. And there will be talent scouts looking out for more future stars from within the class to follow in the wheel-tracks of successful race car drivers like , , , , , Tom Onslow-Cole, Jeff Smith and countless others. The effort put in by everyone at Hunts Kart Club deserves a very big thank you from all of us as does the financial and technical support coming from Maxxis Tyres, our long time suppliers to the TKM classes. Whether novice or expert we hope you thoroughly enjoy your weekend.

The MSA is now launching a national campaign across all levels of karting which will be officially launched at the Autosport Show in January. The MSA is really pleased that this campaign is fully supported by the National Karting Association (NKA) who will also be launching the Code to their members and accredited circuits. It will subsequently be rolled out across junior car racing and junior dragster Championships. The Racing Code, which champions respect, fair play, self-control, good manners and sincerity for all within the sport, is underpinned by statements and values for everyone involved in Karting and sets the level of expectation. It places the responsibility upon the individual for their behaviour and manner, before, during and post event. Ultimately the MSA will deal with cases of disrespect, however Clubs and Championships have an integral role to play in the positive enforcement of the Racing Code and subsequently in dealing with poor behaviour in the initial phases. There is a range of actions that can be taken, starting with a recorded verbal warning and in extreme cases expulsion from the Club or Championship 4 and also onward referral to the MSA. There is little point having a set of rules if no action is taken if and when they are broken, break the Code and bear the consequences! We all strive for the best possible sporting environment for safe and enjoyable racing. The Racing Code will be an education process and we cannot stress enough how important it is that it is implemented in the best possible and positive light. It is everyone’s responsibility to do this. Similar campaigns have been run successfully in other sports and resulted in an improved experience for current participants, whether competitors or officials and has also led to an increase in the number of volunteers’ and participants’ joining and enjoying their sports. To help explain the expectations and be available to answer any questions we are arranging some meetings in the coming weeks, starting with Kartmania on Saturday 28th November. The list of dates and venues is below. We do hope that your Club/Championship will be able to send one or two representatives and the MSA will cover reasonable travel costs. We would obviously encourage you to car share as far as possible and travel by the most economical means. We are very pleased that both Sonja Game and Dan Parker, who have co-ordinated the campaign so far will be with us at the meetings and are happy to share their experiences so far.
