PUBLIC PLACE NAMES ACT 1989
DETERMINATION
DETERMINATION NO. 20 OF 1993
Under section 4 of the Public Place Names Act 1989,1 determine the names of the public places that are Territory Land described in the attached Schedule 'A' and;
Revoke the names of such places that are Territory Land as are described in the attached Schedule 'B'.

JOWETT COURT EDMUND JOWETT Politician.pastoralist and (1858:1936) businessman; arrived Melbourne 1876; on formation of the National Party in 1917 he . became Victorian Vice President; deputy leader of the new parliamentary Country Party 1920-1922; acquired pastoral properties mainly in Queensland beginning in 1886 with few in N.S.W. and Victoria. He promoted woollen manufacturing, instituted 'Wool Week', headed a 'Use More Wool' committee; appointed growers representative on the war time Central Wool committee subsequently served in similar capacity on the Commonwealth Bureau of Commerce and Industry and on the Victorian Meat Advisory committee; director of several companies; Australian, president, British Immigration League from 1916 and representative in Australia of the Royal Colonial Institute; publications include The unnatural fall in prices due to currency legislation (1895), Electoral reform of Australia (1917) and Proportional representation of the Senate (1919).
