Mark Morris Pepperland

Stash Kirkbride & Peter Barrow present a PBSK Partnership project Tuesday 23 - Wednesday 24 April The Choreographer Mark Morris, hailed by the New York Times as ‘The most successful and influential

RADIO choreographer alive, and indisputably the most musical’, returns to Norwich with Pepperland, a unique tribute to the 50th anniversary of The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. HOSTRY FESTIVAL Held at The Hostry, Norwich Cathedral, A joyous new work that kicked off Liverpool’s season-long festivities in 2017, Pepperland features an original 14th to 28th October 2018 by kind permission of the Dean and score by Ethan Iverson. Arrangements of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, With a Little Help From My Chapter Friends, A Day in the Life, Penny Lane and other tracks from the album are interspersed with original pieces, composed to complement Morris’ profound understanding of classical musical forms and the blues.

VISUAL ARTS VISUAL A chamber music ensemble of voice, theremin, soprano sax, trombone, keyboards and percussion, teases out and elaborates on Sgt. Pepper’s non-rock and roll influences. Pepperland resounds with the ingenuity, musicality, wit, and humanity for which Mark Morris Dance Group is known, and the production is a riot of suitably psychedelic colour.
