Rotary Club of Christchurch South

The Road to Oblivion—Sarita McLean

Sarita McLean addressed the Club about her roles in Rotary and in particular the declining numbers of Rotarians.

There are initiatives in place to try to increase membership which will be implemented in the near future.

District 9999 becomes active in 2022 and there is a lot of work taking place to make this a smooth transition.

International Rotary numbers have reduced from 1,300,000 Sarita McLean to 1,777,137 and there are 36,400 clubs worldwide.

Our Zone is Zone 8 and contains 25 Districts, 20 countries, 1314 clubs, with a total of 33,299 members. Zone 8 includes Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.

On July 1st, Sarita is joining the Zone 8 Regional Team as the Public Image Co-Ordinator. This is a role she is very excited about and looking forward to working with her team, amongst all the other things she does for the District and for Rotary South.

Sarita finished her address with a quote from Mother Teresa:

“We ourselves feel that what we are doing is a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop”.

She encouraged us all to carry on with projects big and small. It all helps.

Thank you Sarita for all the work you do and for the wonderful skills you have. Thank you too for the outstanding work you do for our club.

Thank you Diane for this report and Sarita for the photo Upcoming Meetings Notices
