HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL! December is a busy, busy month. Please remember these dates: Pearl Harbor Day, 7th; Chanukah begins, 13th; CCRW Christmas Dinner and Installation 19th; winter begins, 21st; Christmas Eve, 24th and Christmas Day on the 25th. May your memories of this month be merry Carolee Berglan and bright! Thanks to all of you who have supported our Caring For America "causes" this past year. Your generosity has been appreciated by many! Awaken, Inc. is based in Reno and works with those women and children whose lives have been changed by commercial sexual exploitation (CSE). Every month 1,500 women and children are sold on line here in Northern Nevada. YOU donated $58.00 towards their Building Fund in November. Melissa Holland is their Executive Director and greatly appreciates your support. Paws Up For Veterans continues their work of providing Service Dogs to Veterans in our local area. Ann Kinney (775-230-2329) and her husband Bob do an amazing job and they thank you for your support. YOU donated $80.00 to this worthy "cause" in November. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) received another four backpacks this past week. CASA helps the abused and neglected children here in Carson City. The new director is Melanie and she is more than happy to receive the backpacks. Thank You! Advocates To End Domestic Violence also greatly appreciate your donated items. You will find their "Christmas Wish List: elsewhere in this newsletter. It is our tradition of giving NEW, UNWRAPPED gifts from their list to those women and children currently at the shelter. Please consider buying an item from the list and if you are coming to the December 19th Dinner, it will be displayed there. If you'd like to purchase a list item and cannot make it to the dinner, please give me a call at 841-1732 and I will make arrangements for pick up. Thank you in advance for helping to "make spirits bright at the Advocates shelter" this Christmas! November "Thanks Be" go out to: Marie Bensinger, Elaine Bergstrom, Mary Burgoon and Carolyn Knutson. Fish and Advocates both benefit from the donations of "hotel size" toiletries. Marie your "cuddly creatures" are loved at CASA. Thank you ladies! In closing, I'd like to wish you all the true gifts of Christmas: PEACE, HOPE, JOY AND LOVE.

The NvFRW 2018-19 officers elected at the CARSON CITY Biennial Convention are as follows: SUPERVISOR REPORT President: Diane Baranowski Lori Bagwell, Ward 3 1st Vice President: Lynn Armanino 2nd Vice President: Carolyn Smith On behalf of the City, I would like to invite all of you to come Secretary: Barb Hawn downtown on December 1 and kickoff the Treasurer: Karen Von Schimmelmann holiday spirit. We are trying something a little different this year. You might see elves in City Hall handing out Hot Chocolate – yes me and other elected officials! We are so proud of our community and hope you will visit City Hall and share in our joy. I want to thank the Club for hosting Veterans last month for lunch. Carson City is so very proud of being veteran friendly and the Club helped us once again prove this pledge.

CCRW NOVEMBER LUNCHEON—NOVEMBER 21, 2017

OUR VETERAN GUESTS JON YUSPA, THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE FOUNDER/CEO HONOR FLIGHT NV

The featured speaker for our November luncheon was Jon Yuspa, founder & CEO of Honor Flight Nevada. His stories of the wonderful experiences he has had in organizing, selecting and traveling with our veterans were so heartwarming, bringing a tear or two to the eyes of more than a few attendees. Many of our veteran guests also related their experiences and gratitude for these special trips to our nation’s Capitol. Also during the meeting, Carson City Mayor Bob Crowell award- ed the special City Medallion to the CCRW—recognizing the support our club gives to our veterans and service members. The winner of the raffle was Sally Crosby. She donated her win- nings back to the CCRW.
