To create this book, we researched statistical achievements, career and season records, and honors of student-athletes from all three divisions begin- ning in 1981-82, when the NCAA first sponsored women’s basketball, through the 2005-06 season. There are also several pre-NCAA players included, who qualified by receiving national honors. Official weekly statistical rankings for all three divisions of women’s basket- ball were started in the 1981-82 season. For Division I, assists were added in 1985-86, and three-point field goals, blocked shots and steals were added in 1987-88. For Divisions II and III, three-point field goals were added in 1987- 88, assists were added in 1988-89, and blocked shots and steals were added in 1992-93. Photo from Elizabeth Olivier, UTLadyVols.com Elizabeth Olivier, from Photo In the players’ section, if a statistical category has a dash in it, that means either that the particular statistic was not kept during that year, or that it was not available for that student-athlete. If a career total is left blank, it indicates that career statistics could not be accurately compiled due to missing statis- tics. The years listed in the career statistics are the second year of the basketball season; for example, the 1981-82 season is listed as 1982. The middle section of this book is comprised of the various awards pre- sented to women’s basketball student-athletes and coaches.
