Introduction Sue started making dolls after inheriting her mothers Victorian doll collection in 1988. Initially a hobby, she produced moulds from these to make large dolls. As her interest developed she was unable to find quality 1/12th scale miniature doll kits so she set about making them herself. She has been holding workshops, demonstrations and talks for eighteen years. For nine years until May 2008 she was a regular contributor to Dolls House World Magazine with her original pattern designs which bear her copyright. Sue is currently in dispute with Ashdown Publishing and has severed all future connections with them. Now helped by her daughters, she has developed a very successful family business, making a wide variety of 1/12THscale dolls and doll kits, an ever expanding range of clothing kits ranging from Tudor to modern times and dressed dolls. These dolls are 1/12THscale collector’s heirlooms and are not produced as children’s toys. Sue’s latest venture is her first book ‘Victorian Servants’. We hope this is the first of an extensive range. A selection of paper patterns are also available, see page 12. Some of Sue’s exciting new designs are now featured in Dolls House and Miniature Scene. The copyright for these remains with Sue.

How the dolls are made The dolls are poured from porcelain slip, which is then carefully cleaned and kiln fired to form a porcelain (or bisque) doll.

Each dolls’ face is individually painted twice using the traditional oil-based china paint technique and kiln fired a further two times. This gives permanent features that will not be removable or fade.

A final cleaning results in a hand produced smooth finished doll. All the dolls are internally jointed and strung so there are no wires or elastic that you need to cover up. Even in the nude they look good!

We pride ourselves on  Wonderful high quality work  Fantastic range as standard  Providing individual choice  Naturally painted faces, with eyes that quite literally sparkle  Dolls with beautiful hands and fingers

The catalogue This catalogue has 87 dolls faces illustrated but the range is constantly expanding and now includes approximately 160 dolls. A large range of dolls is on display at fairs.

If the doll to meet your requirements does not appear in the catalogue, please do not hesitate to discuss this with Sue. Individual requests such as freckles, warts for witches or large footed hobbits catered for. We are now using different coloured slips to create Afro-Caribbean, Asian, Chinese, Japanese and Indian dolls, as well as, green elves (or aliens!) and blue water sprites.

Workshops, demonstrations and talks Sue has been holding workshops, demonstrations and talks for twelve years, using her extensive archive of original full scale clothing and effects, Victorian photographs and huge library of and history books not to mention her own dolls. If you would like information on workshops or would like her to give a workshop, demonstration or talk at your club or venue please ring and discuss this with her.

Undressed Doll Kits Doll kits have either a fixed porcelain head and torso, or a swivel head on a torso, with internally jointed full length arms at the shoulder and porcelain half or thigh-length legs. There are a variety of arms and hand positions and different for some dolls such as boots, high or low-heeled shoes, bare feet etc. available. The kit is completed with a calico lower body and upper legs; this is made bendable using pipe cleaners and gives a traditional smooth finish to the doll - no loose stuffing or exposed wires. You can then pose the doll in sitting, standing, kneeling etc. Kits can be varied in size depending on how long you make the calico part of the legs and body. Everything you need to complete the doll, including hair, is in the kits - all you need is a needle, thread and some tacky glue.

Doll kits contain: -  Kit instructions  Hair  Porcelain legs  Wigging instructions  Child safe stuffing  Porcelain head and torso with  Calico body and legs  Pipe cleaner jointed arms at the shoulder
