Basic Reputation Management A big advantage of social networking sites is the ability to monitor what is being said about RE/MAX, the real estate industry in general, or anything else you might want to keep tabs on. Social networking sites typically have built-in search functionality, and this is where you should focus your reputation management efforts.

Every now and again, you will want to search on: • Your business name Search • Your name • Your local market + real estate keywords (i.e. “Tampa real estate”) • Any other related keywords that might { involve you or your local business

This due diligence searching will go a long way in assessing if anyone is talking about you or your business on social networking sites. Additionally, you can use Google Search to check blogs and news outlets for any content that is important to you. To use Google Blog Search, just type the relevant keyword(s) you want to search for in the text box and click “Search.” That’s all there is to it!

If you want more control over your search, click the “Advanced Search” link to the right of the search button. There you’ll find options to specify titles, authors, languages and more. Once you get your search results, there will be an additional link that allows you to switch between displaying the results with either the most relevant or recent results at the top.

Additionally, you can configure Google Alerts to scan blogs, news websites, video sites and more and send you as-it- blogsearch.google.com happens, daily or weekly emails based on search terms you choose. For example, you can have Google Alerts send you daily emails from news and blogs for the search term “Denver real estate.” This is a handy way to have relevant blogs and news articles found automatically for you and sent right to your inbox. Note that you must have a Gmail account to configure Google Alerts.
