5-Phase Road Map

I hope everyone is well and keeping their spirits up during these difficult times. I’m sure you are all as desperate as I am to return to the squash courts as soon as is safe to do so. Rest assured the squash committee & I are working on programmes, practices and ideas to make your return to squash at Wimbledon Racquets & Fitness as safe and enjoyable as possible. Whilst we wait for this return here are some links you may find fun & interesting in the 5-phase road map to squash again:

Phase 1 - WATCH: https://youtu.be/-xs8EUlCL5o

World Championship Final 2014 ( v )

This is one my all-time favourite matches, not least because Ramy is one of the most skillful players to grace the game but also due to Mohamed being a former Wimbledon Racquets first team player! It’s a match that has so many changing factors throughout & really shows off both player’s incredible mental strengths.

Phase 2 - TRY: https://twitter.com/englandsr/status/1249969374712168449?s=11

Can you complete this challenge of continuously bouncing the ball on your racket, whilst moving your hand the full distance around the frame of your racket & back to the grip… Good Luck!

Bobby & The Wolf Podcast – Episode 1 with Greg Gaultier &

This new podcast has been set up by , who we have seen on many occasions at the club & , who gave us a fantastic Dunlop Masterclass Day back in November. If you enjoy your podcasts give this a try.

Phase 4 - PREPARE: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=pGuJUId2vu8

Squashskills – Hitting a dying length

This clip explains a number of things to consider when trying to hit a straight length, which is one of the most important shots in the game. It’s a good time to think about target practices, as we may well come back to solo only sessions when the squash courts re-open. If this is so, then it will be an ideal time to try & experiment with different spins & paces to help hit your targets!

Phase 5 - READY TO RETURN! https://305squash.com/products/facemask

Why not purchase one these squash facemasks ready for your return to squash!

I look forward to seeing you all again when the club can re-open and until then keep safe & stay well. Above all else we ask you to, Stay Alert, Keep Fit and Be Ready to Start Squash Again!

Best Wishes,

Phil Rushworth (Head of Squash, Wimbledon Racquets & Fitness Club)
