Running the Update

If you’ve already run the update, you can skip this step.

Your system must be on Version 10.2 or higher to run this update. PostalMate network users: Every station must be updated one at a time, starting with the Master. You don’t have to do anything to get the update file—it will automatically download to your computer when it’s available, and a notification like this will appear:

(Note: In Windows 10 the notification looks a bit different than this)

1. Close PostalMate on all workstations. When prompted, do a PostalMate backup. 2. Click on the notification message. An update screen will display. 3. Click on the “Update now” button. 4. Follow the steps in the install wizard until complete.

What’s New in Version 10.3

This section contains a summary of the major changes and enhancements included in PostalMate Version 10.3.

 Customer name in shipping label return address You now have the option of having your customer’s name in the return address portion of shipping labels. The store’s address will still be used, as is generally required by the carriers. This option is available for FedEx, LSO, OnTrac and UPS.* Here’s how to enable this for each of the carriers: 1. From PostalMate’s main menu, go to Tools > PostalMate Settings. 2. Choose Carrier Setup on the left. 3. Select a carrier’s tab, and check Use Customer as return contact, as shown here:

4. Repeat Step 3 for any of the other carriers.

* DHL Express always uses the customer name and address, as per their business rules, and there is an existing option for USPS/Endicia to replace the store’s name and address with the customer’s.

 New DHL Express surcharges Three new DHL surcharges have been added. PostalMate will automatically add the appropriate surcharge if one of the listed countries is the destination.  Elevated Risk. This replaces the “Security Services” surcharge, which was based on a percentage of the shipping cost. A flat charge of $20.00 (wholesale) will apply when shipping to Afghanistan, Burundi, Iraq, Libya, Mali, Niger, South Sudan, Syria and Yemen. This charge may apply in addition to Restricted Destination.  Restricted Destination. A charge of $30.00 (wholesale) will apply to all non- document shipments destined to Central African Republic, Cote d’Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Eritrea, Iran, Iraq, Liberia, Libya, North Korea, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen. This charge may apply in addition to Elevated Risk. Note: When you get to the Customs Information screen, if you indicate that the shipment is “Documents” the Restricted Destination surcharge will be removed.  Exporter Validation. A charge of $30.00 (wholesale) will apply to all non-document shipments destined to Afghanistan, Belarus, Cuba, Lebanon, Myanmar, South Sudan and Zimbabwe. This charge may apply in addition to Elevated Risk. Note: When you get to the Customs Information screen, if you indicate that the shipment is “Documents” the Exporter Validation surcharge will be removed.

To set retail rates for these surcharges:

1. From PostalMate’s main menu, go to Tools > PostalMate Settings. 2. Choose Surcharge Rates on the left. 3. Select DHL and enter retail rates for the new surcharges.

 LSO service area expansion This update supports recently-added destination zip codes to major markets in , and . The new coverage areas are: Tennessee – Nashville, Memphis (and Southhaven, MS), Knoxville, Jackson and Chattanooga, plus the Tri-cities (Kingsport, Johnson City and Bristol) Alabama – Montgomery, Birmingham and Huntsville Arkansas – Little Rock

 Expanded RS Associates Postal Rates The RS Associates Postal Rates program now includes the following additional services:  USPS Priority Mail, 21-70 lbs  USPS Priority Mail International  USPS Priority Mail Express International  USPS First-Class Package International Service If you already have “RS Associates Postal Rates” selected as your Pricing Group in PostalMate,* the wholesale rates will automatically be loaded when the update is run. You may wish to establish new retail rates for these services. If so, the easiest way is to use the Quick Rate-Setting Utility: From PostalMate’s main menu, go to Edit > Shipping Rates > Quick Rate-Setting Utility.

* To qualify for this Pricing Group your store must be an RS Associates Premium member. Go to Retail Shipping Associates for more information about membership and discounts.
