INTRODUCTION

The objective of the Project Support to Local Employment Partnerships in Bosnia and funded by the European Union with EUR 4 Million and implemented by the International Labour Organisation (ILO) was to support the development of the partnerships and increase employability by the retraining of the unemployed persons in the entire territory of .

The implementation of the Project started in March 2016 as a part of the EU Programme for local development and employment. In the period till April 2019, the development of 19 local employment partnerships has been supported and through their action more than 1600 unemployed persons have been retrained of which more than 550 have been employed. They are mainly socially vulnerable categories of population, including women, youth, minorities, returnees, internally displaced persons, and hard-to-employ categories.

All partnerships supported through the project have at least one representative of five key local stakeholders including municipalities or cities, public employment services, employers, educational institutions and non- governmental organisations. For the implementation of their activities, i.e. active labour market measures, the partnerships have received the financial support in the form of grants in average amount of 200,000.00 EUR in the first call, or up to 50,000.00 EUR in the second call, as well as the technical and advisory assistance by the International Labour Organisation during the implementation of the Project.

Special attention has been devoted to the establishment of the partnership as a self-sustainable for of cooperation of all local stakeholders. The partnerships established within the Project are expected to act independently after the Project ends and thus contribute to the integrated local development.

For the first time, the employment day was organized in Laktaši. The report has been prepared for the analysis of the structure of unemployed persons at target area and the employment action plan has been developed. The results achieved in less than two years influenced the decision of the partners to continue activities of the local employment partnership regarding the strengthening of employment in this area.
