An external program, the tests are not compulsory and do not contribute to school assessment results. Some parents choose for their children to participate to provide additional information about their child’s progress and achievements. Thanks to Mrs Carruthers and the teachers who supervised the tests and congratulations to the students who participated.

Killara Public School promotes the values of RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY and RESILIENCE within the school and across the wider community. A thank you letter to 2W for their ANZAC Day care package To the girls and boys of 2W at Killara Public School Thank you so much for your package of gifts! It absolutely made my day and I am very appreciative for the time you took out of your day to send the parcel to us over here! I loved all your notes, they were thoughtful, some had very pretty drawings and very neat writing, your teacher must be proud! My name is Sarah and I am a Lieutenant in the Australian Army. I am here for six months and am a part of Operation Accordion. Specifically I am in command of 30 soldiers in Distribution Platoon. Within my platoon, we have a group of people who are dedicated to getting all the mail to and from Australia, and as well to all the troops in the countries the Australian Defence Force (ADF) operate in the Middle East. The second group of people are called Termites and work with the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) to get all our cargo on and off the planes at our base. The third group is in a warehouse and manage the supply chain for all the items the troops need in the Middle East. I have a really great team here and it is making the time very enjoyable. I am here over the summer months and it is very hot! We can only exercise in the early morning or at night time. It is common this month for it to be 40 degrees Celsius every day, and next month the average temperature is 50 degrees Celsius. It was really special to spend ANZAC Day on deployment this year. We remembered by having a Dawn Service as well as a few other ADF traditions like a Gunfire Breakfast and Two Up. On the day we organised a friendly competition of cricket between some Army members and some RAAF members. It was a very fun game and Army won of course! I have attached a photo of my platoon to say thank you for all your support back in Australia. It truly means a lot and we are very grateful. (I am the short one to the right of the sign in the photo.) Thanks again, hope all is well for you in Australia and we’ll be home soon with our family and friends after hopefully a safe and successful deployment. WHAT’S ON AT KILLARA KIDS
