Expertise Mark is a heritage professional with a passion for architecture and the conservation and preservation of heritage places. With extensive experience working in an architectural practice, Mark has been responsible for the end-to-end delivery of both residential and commercial projects. Highly organised, Mark is skilled in problem resolution, negotiating the statutory requirements of the Victorian and local planning provisions. Mark recently completed a Master of Cultural Heritage at Deakin University. Focusing on heritage place management, Mark has a particular interest in and aptitude for facilitating good design outcomes within sensitive heritage overlays.

Experience At Context, Mark works on a variety of heritage studies and heritage advisory services. He has undertaken the assessment and analysis of heritage places as part of municipal heritage studies. Through his extensive experience in architecture, Mark provides advice and support as part of Context’s heritage advisory services to Local Government. Prior to joining Context, Mark worked as a project manager at Ian James Smith Architects. Specialising in quality residential and commercial projects mostly located within heritage overlays, Mark was involved in all aspects of projects from initial client brief through to project completion. This included taking clients briefs, site analysis including heritage assessments and impact assessment, preparation of sketch designs, assessment of legislative requirements, preparation of planning documents, preparation of working drawings, specification writing, calling for tenders, contract administration and liaising with consultant engineers, building surveyors, heritage consultants and local government representatives.
