JALA SHAKTI ABHIYAAN

ICAR-K.H.Patil Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Hulkoti, Zilla Panchayat, Gadag, KSDA, KSDH and Reliance Foundation jointly organised Jal Shakti Abhiyan Mela on 03-09-2019 in KVK premises. The event was inaugurated by Shri S.P.Baligar, President, Zilla Panchayat, Gadag.

Chief Executive Officer, Zilla Panchayat, Gadag and Kum.G.Keertishree I.A.S, Asst. Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Govt. of were the Guest of Honour. Smt. Shakuntala Mulimani, Vice President, Zilla Panchayat, Gadag, Shri Veeranagouda Nadagoudar, President, Standing Committee on Agriculture & Industry, Zilla Panchayat, Gadag, Shri Shreeshailappa Bidarur, Ex-MLA, Gadag participated in the event. On this occasion, live demonstrations on Integrated Watershed Management, Integrated Farming System, Drip and laser irrigation were held. Apart from this, Guest lectures on Efficient Use of Water and exhibitions on the theme Soil & Water Conservation, Rain Water Harvesting, Roof Water Harvesting, Borewell Recharging, Drought tolerant crops and technologies were organised. During the occasion, literature on Soil & Water Conservation were released. The event was presided over by Shri D.R.Patil, Ex-MLA, Gadag. More than 1230 farmers, farm women and students from schools and colleges participated in the event.

NATIONAL ANIMAL DISEASE CONTROL PROGRAM FOR FMD AND BRUCELLOSIS AND ARTIFICIAL INSEMINATION

National Animal Disease Control Program for FMD and Brucellosis and Artificial Insemination was held at ICAR-KVK, Gadag on 11-09-2019. Shri M.G.Hiremath I.A.S, District Commissioner, inaugurated the programme. He said, Central government is implementing the NADPC programme all over India for animal health and to increase the income of the farmers involved in animal husbandry. Mrs. Shakuntala Mulimani, President of Zilla Panchyat, Gadag, Dr. Nagaraj, Dean, Veterinary College, Gadag and other officers of the veterinary department were present in the programme. More than 300 farmers, farm women and extension personnel participated in the programme.

AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON LEGAL RIGHTS FOR WOMEN

ICAR-K.H.Patil Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Hulkoti, SBI-RSETI, Hulkoti, Department of Women and Child Welfare, Women Development Corporation, Sresti Social Welfare Organsation and District Court, Gadag jointly organised awareness programme on legal laws and rights for women on 12-09-2019. The District Court Judge, Deputy Director of Women and Child Welfare Department, Officers of Social Welfare Department and Programme Coordinator of KVK participated in the inauguration programme. District Court Judge Justice Shri S.G.Salagaki briefed about the laws and various legal rights for women. More than 80 farm women participated in the programme. FARMERS-SCIENTIST INTERACTION ON 16-09-2019

ICAR-K.H.Patil Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Hulkoti in collaboration with KSDA-ATMA, Gadag organised farmers-scientist interaction on 16-09-2019 at KVK premises. The Farmers Producers Organisations, ATMA groups and progressive farmers participated in the programme. The programme was inaugurated by Shri G.R.Odugoudar, Director, FPO, Hulkoti. Shri Veeresh Hunagundh, Deputy Director, ATMA and KVK Scientists participated in the farmers-scientist interaction. Shri S.H.Adapur, SMS (Ag.Extension) briefed about the significance and salient features of FPO. More than 100 farmers participated in the interaction meet.

TREE PLANTATION DRIVE AND KISSAN GHOSTI ON 17-09-2019

ICAR-K.H.Patil Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Hulkoti in collaboration with IFFCO organised Tree Plantation Drive and Kissan Ghosti on 17-09-2019 at KVK premises. The programme was inaugurated by Smt. Annapurna Shantageri, President, Gram Panchayat, Hulkoti, Shri G.R.Odugoudar, Director, FPO, Hulkoti briefed about the importance of planting tree. Shri S.H.Adapur, SMS (Ag.Extension) briefed about “Vruksha Abhiyan Programme”. On this Occasion, ICAR-KVK, Hulkoti distributed and planted 1100 teak, terminalia elliptika, melia dubia, mango, cashew and other species samplings. Thus, KVK has taken-up tree plantation campaign in its campus as well as in its adopted villages namely Chikkasavanur in block and Kabalayatakatti in Gadag block. Kisan Ghosties were organized in all 3 places to make farmers aware about the importance of tree plantation. In total, 254 farmers and students participated in the campaign and ghosties.

FIELD DAY ON MILLET CAFETERIA

Field day on Millet Cafeteria was organised on 17-09-2019 at Chikkasavanur village of Shirahatti block. The millet crops like Little Millet, Foxtail Millet, Browntop Millet and Proso Millet are demonstrated in 5 farmers’ fields in 5 hectares by providing technical guidance on ICM and other aspects. In this view, the field day was organised in Shri Fakeeraddi Nagappa Gokavi’s field. Field day was inaugurated by Progressive farmer Shri Mallappa N. Gokavi and he said that cultivation of millets is important as it requires less water, gives more yield and cost of cultivation is less. Shri Neelagouda Patil, Progressive Farmer spoke on the importance of cultivation of millets as well as marketing of processed millets as it fetches more price in the market. Shri V.D.Vaikunthe, SMS (Agronomy) spoke on cultivation aspects of millets and Shri S.K.Mudlapur, SMS (Plant Protection) spoke on pest and disease management in millets. Dr.Sudha V. Mankani, SMS (Home Science) briefed about the importance of millets in daily diet and its value added products. Shri Shivanand Bandivaddar, Field Officer, Reliance Foundation briefed about the activities and facilities available in Reliance Foundation for the benefit of farmers. Many progressive farmers namely Shri Somaraddi Mallapa Gokavi, Shri Yallappa Achchalli, Shri Tirakappa Gokavi, Shri Mahadevappa Kanakeri, Shri Somaraddi Godachalli, Shri Narasappa Bairapur and more than 50 farmers and farm women participated in the programme.

SWACHHTA HI SEWA PROGRAMME On the eve of 150th Birth Anniversay of Mahatma Gandhiji, Our Honourable Prime Minister introduced Swachhta Hi Sewa Programme from September 11th to October 2nd every year from 2014 to 2019. Every year ICAR-K.H.Patil Krishi Vigyan Kendra is organising Swachhta Hi Sewa programme, mainly through awareness programmes to school children, farmers and farm women on sanitation, cleanliness and use of toilets, quiz competitions, cleaning of public & social places, cleaning of streets, drains and back alleys through awareness drives, conversion of degradable and agriculture waste into compost etc. In addition to this “Awareness was created on plastic waste management in agriculture fields and ill-effects of plastic usage in households” mainly plastic bottles, carry bags and plastic tea cups and glasses.
