This is a study on the Giants of the Bible following the Genesis 6 assertion of the presence of the Giants on earth before the flood of the time of Noah and also afterwards. This is a controversial subject in that several scholars have tried to identify who the "sons of God are". Usually three choices are found, however if we assert two creations of the man - one as given in the Gen 1 by the Elohim where male and female are created and given the wide earth to subdue and to fill; and the other in Gen 2 by YHVH of Elohim who was placed inside a walled garden, we have another choice. Adam and Eve were were Giants according to Jewish an Islamic tradition. Evidently Adam was the Son of God and there is no need to search within the aliens to get sons of God .

Evidently daughters of the humans were all over the the earth.

Another problem is if the flood killed all evil generations and the Nephilims, how did the Nephilims appear after the flood? Who carried the genes over into the New Earth? After the flood we see a large number of giants, families, clans and even tribes of the Giants. They are described as interconnected and we will find it difficult to isolate or classify them.

Did the Israelite kill the giants completely? How did the giants fare in other continents. We can actually trace their existence through the fossils. We still do have gigantism in today's world. Are they all medical problems or do we have the giant genes within the us. At any rate the presence of the giants were there in the world just as the scripture asserts. We can find that their presence alone will explain the structures of various countries which cannot be explained with the technologies of that period.

CHAPTER ONE NEPHILIM

There are several clans of Giants mentioned in the Bible. The Nephilim The earliest mention of giants in the Bible is in Genesis 6:4 just prior to the Flood account.

“There were giants [nephilim] on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown ”(Genesis 6:4).

The word translated as “giants” in this verse is the Hebrew word nephilim. There has been much debate over the meaning of this word. Some believe it came from the root Hebrew verb "naphal," which means to fall or lie, while others claim that it is from the Aramaic noun "naphil". These individuals are described in Hebrew as gibborim(“mighty men”). This theme of aliens from the outer world came down to earth and cohabited with human females to produce gaints are common to almost all cultures.

In Greek mythology these aliens are often called demi-gods or gods. The mythology of Titans is popular in the Greek culture. The word Titan probably comes from Shaitan for Satan. The twelve Titans, children of Uranus (Heaven) and Gê (Earth), were the group of gods immediately preceding the Olympian gods in Greek mythology. The Olympians defeated the Titans in a battle — the Titanomachy. In appearance, they were the Giants. In addition to the Titans, Uranus and Gê produced monstrous offspring: three beings each with a hundred hands, and three one-eyed giants (the Cyclopes).

Hercules is one popular example whose father was a god and whose mother was human. The emperors of Japan, the Kings of the Aztec’s, and Mayans, are all said to be descendants of the star gods reminiscent of the coming of the fallen angels and their giant children.

We are not told any names of the giants prior to the flood. But their presence was mentioned apparently as a reason for the cleansing of the earth and restarting a new era for earth. But then we are told they were there even after the flood. GIANTS IN THE BIBLE: PROF.M.M.NINAN 2

The nephilim were mentioned again when the spies returned from their exploratory mission of the land of Canaan.

Num. 13:31 But the men who had gone up with him said, “ We are not able to go up against the people, for they are too strong for us.” Num. 13:32 So they gave out to the sons of Israel a bad report of the land which they had spied out, saying, “The land through which we have gone, in spying it out, is a land that devours its inhabitants; and all the people whom we saw in it are men of great size. Num. 13:33 “There also we saw the Nephilim (the sons ofAnak are part of the Nephilim); and we became like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight.” Gen 6 makes it clear that these giants were the result of marriage between "the Sons of God" and the "Daughters of Man" Who are the sons of God? Who are the daughters of men? Why are their progenies giants?

It is also interesting that God failed to cleanse the world of Nephilims which was part of GIANTS IN THE BIBLE: PROF.M.M.NINAN 3 the purpose of flood. How did this happen?

Who are the "Sons of God" ( Bene ha Elohim): Genesis 6 King James Version (KJV) 1And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, 2 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose. 3 And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years. 4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown. This was one of the reasons that God had in destroying the world to end all wickedness 5And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. 6And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. 7And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them. 8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord. 9 These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God. 10 And Noah begat three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth. 11 The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. 12 And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth. 13And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth. The term ‘sons of God’ is used in Genesis 6:2 and 6:4, where it is stated “the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful. And they took wives for themselves; whoever they chose”. They had sexual relations, and as a result the daughters of men ‘bore children to them’.

So, who are the ‘sons of God’? The first mention of "sons of God" in the Hebrew Bible occurs at Genesis 6:1-4. But it does not define them GIANTS IN THE BIBLE: PROF.M.M.NINAN 4

CHAPTER TWO : WHO ARE THE “SONS OF GOD”? ANGELS

First interpretation is that the ‘sons of God’ were Angelic beings who rebelled against God and fell from grace.

Fallen angels According to this theory some of the angels looked down to the earth and was attracted to the beauty of the daughters of men. So they left their heavenly abode and took flesh somehow and married them and had children. These children had giant proportions for some reason. And these were the Nephilim.

A number of early sources refer to the phrase "bene Elohim" which translated verbatim as"sons of Elohim" as Angels. The earliest such references are found in the Dead Sea Scrolls, the Greek, Aramaic Enochic literatures, in certain Ge'ez manuscripts of 1 Enoch and Jubilees. The earliest statement in support of this can be traced to the rabbinical Targum Pseudo-Jonathan Some Christian apologists, such as Tertullian and especially Lactantius, shared this opinion. So this may have been the choice of the early scholars.

The New American Bible commentary suggests that the Epistle of Jude refers nephilim as "heavenly beings" who came to earth and married women and had children though this is not explicit there. (Jud 1:6) And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.

ἀγγέλους τε τοὺς μὴ τηρήσαντας κ.τ.λ.] ἀγγέλους without the article considered generally; the participle connected with the article indicates the definite class of angels who are here meant implying a wider definition of the word angel. The prevailing idea among the Jews was, that to the angels a lordship belongs over the earthly creation. By this explanation, also, the two clauses correspond; instead of administering their office as rulers, they forsook their heavenly habitation, and thus became culpable.

Christian commentators have argued against this view, because of Jesus's statement that angels do not marry.

One of the standard evidence cited in favor of the "fallen angels" interpretation includes the fact that the phrase "the sons of God" ( literally "sons of the gods") is used twice GIANTS IN THE BIBLE: PROF.M.M.NINAN 5 outside of Genesis chapter 6, in the Book of Job (1:6 and 2:1) where the phrase is translated as angels in some translations. The Septuagint's translation of Genesis 6:2 renders this phrase as "the angels of God." "sons of God" (Job 1:6; Job 2:1; Job 38:7) which is often translated as Angels is still "bene elohim" (The translaion as angels is an opinion and not a true translation) Da 3:25 is son of God, probably refers to pre-incarnate Jesus - the begotten Son of God "sons of Elim," (Ps 29:1; Ps 89:7). (Sons of the mighty?)

Evident the original Hebrew word is still "bene Elohim" meaning "Sons of Gods" with no specific connection to mean "angels" in those place. The translation of this as "Angels" is an imposition of the translation and nothing more.

The expression “sons of God” occurs at Job 1:6, and here the reference is obviously to spirit sons of God assembled in God’s presence, among whom Satan, who had been “roving about in the earth,” also appeared. (Job 1:7; see also 2:1, 2.) Again at Job 38:4- 7 “the sons of God” who ‘shouted in applause’ when God ‘laid the cornerstone’ of the earth clearly were not simple angels but "sons of God" . They are not humans descended from Adam, since they are not created at that point of time. So, too, at Psalm 89:6 “the sons of God” are definitely heavenly creatures, not earthlings. Unless we define "Angels" to include all being in heaven we cannot identify the "Sons of God" as angels.

This is what we observe: People in Personal relationship with God are defined "sons of God" Israel, as the elect nation, is called his son, his first born (Ex 4:22); Israel as the elect seed, is named the son whom God (Elohim) Ps 80:17, . Those who have remained faithful to God (De 32:5) are Sons of God Those who had back slidden, but returned, were sons of the living God (Ho 1:10).

Thus: Practically nowhere the translation of "bene Elohim" as Angels can be justified. Yet these are still in the original Hebrew "bene Elohim" meaning "Sons of Gods" with no specific connection to mean "angels".

These can translated to mean Angels if we expand the word "Angels" to mean all spiritual beings in all dimensions of existence.

I am not saying it does not include angels, but includes many more than just angels as we understand what angels means. If Satan is also part of the sons of God certainly it includes many other forms of creation within the cosmos. It would then mean every creation who partake of the dimension of Spirit and Divine out of the four dimensions usually defined in Judeo-Christian Tradition viz. Material, Mind, Spirit, Divine. This is indeed to be expected because God alone existed in the beginning and everything that exists were created by God within him (since there is no outside of God). Hence all those beings with a Spirit are Sons of God. Hence we should not be surprised if we see even Satan in that group as a son of God. Even fallen beings are sons of God though GIANTS IN THE BIBLE: PROF.M.M.NINAN 6 they are under the judgement of God. We have some indication that some fallen beings are in "prison" under sentence now.

Second Temple Judaism The story of the nephilim is further elaborated in the Book of Enoch. The Greek, Aramaic, and main Ge'ez manuscripts of 1 Enoch and Jubilees obtained in the 19th century and held in the British Museum and Vatican Library, connect the nephilim with the fallen angels, and in particular with the egḗgooi (watchers). Samyaza, an angel of high rank, is described as leading a rebel sect of angels in a descent to earth to have sexual intercourse with human females: Note: Book of Jubilees and the Book of Enoch have always been canon in the Ethiopian Bible Tertullian considered the Book of Enoch as part of the “Holy Scripture“. They are not part of the 66 books of our canon of "Scripture" As such we do not use them to form doctrines. There is no harm in using them to support biblical doctrines

The Nephilim, Fallen Angels, Giants and the Watchers

From the Book of Enoch CHAPTER VI. 1.And it came to pass when the children of men had multiplied that in those days were born unto them beautiful and comely daughters. 2. And the angels, the children of the heaven, saw and lusted after them, and said to one another: 'Come, let us choose us wives from among the children of men and beget us children.' 3. And Semjâzâ, who was their leader, said unto them: 'I fear ye will not indeed agree to do this deed, and I alone shall have to pay the penalty of a great sin.' 4.And they all answered him and said: 'Let us all swear an oath, and all bind ourselves by mutual imprecations not to abandon this plan but to do this thing.' 5. Then sware they all together and bound themselves by mutual imprecations upon it. 6.And they were in all two hundred; who descended in the days of Jared on the summit of Mount Hermon, and they called it Mount Hermon, because they had sworn and bound themselves by mutual imprecations upon it. 7. And these are the names of their leaders: Sêmîazâz, their leader, Arâkîba, Râmêêl, Kôkabîêl, Tâmîêl, Râmîêl, Dânêl, Êzêqêêl, Barâqîjâl, Asâêl, Armârôs, Batârêl, Anânêl, Zaqîêl, Samsâpêêl, Satarêl, Tûrêl, Jômjâêl, Sariêl. 8. These are their chiefs of tens.

CHAPTER VII. 1. And all the others together with them took unto themselves wives, and each chose for himself one, and they began to go in unto them and to defile themselves with them, and they taught them charms and enchantments, and the cutting of roots, and made them acquainted with plants. 2. And they became pregnant, and they bare great giants, whose height was three thousand ells: GIANTS IN THE BIBLE: PROF.M.M.NINAN 7 3. Who consumed all the acquisitions of men. And when men could no longer sustain them, 4. the giants turned against them and devoured mankind. 5. And they began to sin against birds, and beasts, and reptiles, and fish, and to devour one another's flesh, and drink the blood. 6. Then the earth laid accusation against the lawless ones.

CHAPTER VIII. 1. And Azâzêl taught men to make swords, and knives, and shields, and breastplates, and made known to them the metals 〈of the earth 〉 and the art of working them, and bracelets, and ornaments, and the use of antimony, and the beautifying of the eyelids, and all kinds of costly stones, and all colouring tinctures. 2. And there arose much godlessness, and they committed fornication, and they were led astray, and became corrupt in all their ways. Semjâzâ taught enchantments, and root-cuttings, Armârôs the resolving of enchantments, Barâqîjâl, (taught) astrology, Kôkabêl the constellations, Ezêqêêl the knowledge of the clouds, Araqiêl the signs of the earth, Shamsiêl the signs of the sun, and Sariêl the course of the moon. And as men perished, they cried, and their cry went up to heaven . .

CHAPTER IX. 6. Thou seest what Azâzêl hath done, who hath taught all unrighteousness on earth and revealed the eternal secrets which were (preserved) in heaven, which men were striving to learn: 7. And Semjâzâ, to whom Thou hast given authority to bear rule over his associates. 8. And they have gone to the daughters of men upon the earth, and have slept with the women, and have defiled themselves, and revealed to them all kinds of sins. 9. And the women have borne giants, and the whole earth has thereby been filled with blood and unrighteousness

CHAPTER X. 1. Then said the Most High, the Holy and Great One spake, and sent Uriel to the son of Lamech, and said to him: 2. 'Go to Noah and tell him in my name "Hide thyself!" and reveal to him the end that is approaching: that the whole earth will be destroyed, and a deluge is about to come upon the whole earth, and will destroy all that is on it. And now instruct him that he may escape and his seed may be preserved for all the generations of the world. GIANTS IN THE BIBLE: PROF.M.M.NINAN 8

Targum Pseudo-Jonathan identifies the nephilim as Shemihaza and the angels in the name list from 1 Enoch. as the angels that fell.

There are also allusions to these descendants in the deutero-canonical books of Judith , Sirach 16:7, Baruch 3:26 – 28, and Wisdom of Solomon 14:6, and in the non- deuterocanonical 3 Maccabees 2:4. In the New Testament Epistle of Jude 14 – 15 cites from 1 Enoch 1:9,

To most commentators this confirms that Jude regarded the Enochic interpretations of Genesis 6 as correct. The reason for this is the broad understanding of Angels as every being which are spiritual or has the Spirit within them through which they have contact with the Holy Spirit.

The argument against the interpretation that the fathers of Nephilims were angels is essentially with the explanation who angels are by Jesus and their nature. First: Jesus taught that angels do not marry : "For in the resurrection they [humans] neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels of God in heaven" (Matthew 22:30; see Mark 12:25).

Second: Angels cannot cohabit nor reproduce with women. Angels are spirit beings: But to which of the angels has He ever said: "Sit at My right hand, till I make Your enemies Your footstool"? Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation? (Hebrews 1:13-14)

So the angels are either created as ministering spirits to serve those who will be in the Kingdom or those who will be "sons of God". This would actually define 'Sons of God" GIANTS IN THE BIBLE: PROF.M.M.NINAN 9 as those who are served by the angels and should be different from them at least in some ways.

This is probably because they were created more like machines to serve as messengers and for particular purposes or as I have explained by book "Two Trees and the Serpent", they are fixed on yetser Tov (the Good) by eating the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, as the Humans and Demons are fixed on Yetser Ha Ra (the Selfishness). The Demons and Adamic Race are fixed on self centered activities. They are all in fact created as Sons of God. Hence angels can also be included in the list of 'Sons of Gos" since we can consider Adamic race as "Sons of God" since Adam was indeed Son of God. Did the status change because of the fall? Evidently God cared and thew them out of the Garden to save them the eternal torture and we know God has a plan to redeem sons ofAdam and to give them all the status of the Sons of God.

There is another group who are balanced with yetser HaRa and yetser HaTov - so that they can act with full understanding. They are the true children of God - the beings probably fallen but redeemed God. Death of Jesus on the cross, I believe have cosmic consequence beyond just human. Only we are not given the details. "Secret things belongs to God, But what is revealed belongs to us and to our children."

These form the sons of God in the proper sense of the word. There are such beings in all dimensions with perfect freedom of will and act as the heirs of God. We can of course call all created beings as sons of God and they all partake in the creation in a limited way within the limit. But they don’t partake of the freedom of God in creation. They sit beside the Father and is part of the functioning of the Kingdom of God. As such there exists another group who are full partakers in Divinity and in creation (outside of the Trinity). These "Sons of God" come from all dimensions including the Physical Dimension made of flesh as well. It is these that have still got the total freedom of choice. What we see is that there are full sons of God who has physical body that has outgrown the mortality with multidimensional physical body like the resurrected body of Jesus. They can indeed can marry and reproduce within humans. It is this that willingly violated the bound.

Humans are one species that are "sons of God." because Adam was the son of God. Adam existed in all dimensions of existence, Matter, Mind, Spirit and Divine.

Luke 3: 37the son of Methuselah, the son of Enoch, the son of Jared, the son of Mahalalel, the son of Cainan, 38the son of Enosh, the son of Seth, the son of Adam, the son of God.

But humans are fixed on selfish ego and are demons now because of the disobedience which made them eat the forbidden fruit before they were mature enough. It is because of this God drove Adam and Eve so that they may not remain as demons eternally and God the Son incarnated and died to redeem them giving the chance to be sons proper. GIANTS IN THE BIBLE: PROF.M.M.NINAN 10 Again, the phrase "sons of God" refers certainly to Christians, regenerated by God's Spirit but still human: "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children [sons, KJV] of God, even to those who believe in His name."(John 1:12) » For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. . . . For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God. (Romans 8:14, 19) » . . . that you may become blameless and harmless, children [sons, KJV] of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world . . . (Philippians 2:15) » Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children [sons, KJV] of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. Beloved, now we are children [sons, KJV] of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. (I John 3:1-2) » Have we not all one Father? Has not one God created us? Why do we deal treacherously with one another by profaning the covenant of the fathers? (Malachi 2:10) » . . . the son of Enos, the son of Seth, the son of Adam, the son of God. (Luke 3:38) Through Adam, then, every human being is a child of God. Mankind in general, because all men are sons of God by creation: "I said, 'You are gods, and all of you are children of the Most High. But you shall die like men . . .'" (Psalm 82:6-7).

Evidently those beings who were created as Sons of God with material bodies - the physical beings with the spirit of God within them - like man will have their physical bodies even after resurrection. This is one of the fundamental doctrines of the church. Thus some Sons of God like the redeemed mankind will have real Physical bodies. But these bodies are not decayable. The second law of Thermodynamics - the Law of Entropy - which says in an Isolated world everything will go from order to disorder and will finally die. Since Sons of Gods are permanently connected to the Holy Spirit, they are under Negative Entropy Law, where everything will go from Glory unto Glory. Thus there are some Sons of God who are immortal who will have real physical bodies.

Alien invasion? If as the ancient scripts asserts, they are watchers. Then where will they be placed so that they can watch over the earth and its administration? Certainly they must be within the material realm within out physical universe somewhere where they have an administration. This is what watchers means. They must be having physical bodies, if they have to interact with humans on the earth.

In the modern terms they will be called aliens from outer space. If we interpret it in this way we have a justification and a possible explanation. Alien observers from outer space appointed by God to the affairs of earth, came down to earth and intermingled with humans and produced Nephelim. In other words what the Bible and ancient Sumerian scripts are asserting is that there was an intervention of aliens into the earth. GIANTS IN THE BIBLE: PROF.M.M.NINAN 11 What the Bible asserts is that this intervention was against God's intentions. While evidently they went on for many hundreds of years before the flood, God intervened and cleansed the world of them and their progenies through the flood. But their genetic presence continued even after the flood and the cleansing of that remaining genetic products was the work of Isra-El. Eventually we are told that the whole giant genetic continuations were destroyed.

These will be the same bodies people had in earthly life—but our resurrection bodies will not die and, for the righteous, they will be transformed into a glorified state, freed from suffering and pain, and enabled to do many of the amazing things Jesus could do with his glorified body (cf. 1 Cor. 15:35–44, 1 John 3:2).

The resurrection of the body is an essential Christian doctrine, as the apostle Paul declares: "[I]f the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised. If Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished" (1 Cor. 15:13–18).

Because, as Paul tells us, the Christian faith cannot exist without this doctrine, it has been infallibly defined by the Church. It is included in the three infallible professions of faith—the Apostles’ Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the Athanasian Creed—and has been solemnly, infallibly taught by ecumenical councils.

The Fourth Lateran Council (1215), infallibly defined that at the second coming Jesus "will judge the living and the dead, to render to every person according to his works, both to the reprobate and to the elect. All of them will rise with their own bodies, which they now wear, so as to receive according to their deserts, whether these be good or bad [Rom. 2:6–11]" (constitution 1).

Most recently, the Catechism of the Catholic Church reiterated this long-defined teaching, stating, "‘We believe in the true resurrection of this flesh that we now possess’ (Council of Lyons II). We sow a corruptible body in the tomb, but he raises up an incorruptible body, a ‘spiritual body’ (cf. 1 Cor 15:42–44)" (CCC 1017).

As the following quotes from the Church Fathers show, this has been the historic teaching of the Christian faith on the matter since the very beginning. …

The Apostles’ Creed "I believe in . . . the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the flesh. Amen" (Old Roman Symbol [A.D. 125]). …. GIANTS IN THE BIBLE: PROF.M.M.NINAN 12 Second Clement "Let none of you say that this flesh is not judged and does not rise again. Just think: In what state were you saved, and in what state did you recover your [spiritual] sight, if not in the flesh? In the same manner, as you were called in the flesh, so you shall come in the flesh. If Christ, the Lord who saved us, though he was originally spirit, became flesh and in this state called us, so also shall we receive our reward in the flesh. Justin Martyr "Indeed, God calls even the body to resurrection and promises it everlasting life. When he promises to save the man, he thereby makes his promise to the flesh. What is man but a rational living being composed of soul and body? Is the soul by itself a man? No, it is but the soul of a man. Can the body be called a man? No, it can but be called the body of a man. If, then, neither of these is by itself a man, but that which is composed of the two together is called a man, and if God has called man to life and resurrection, he has called not a part, but the whole, which is the soul and the body" (The Resurrection 8 [A.D. 153]). ……

Tertullian "Therefore, the flesh shall rise again: certainly of every man, certainly the same flesh, and certainly in its entirety. Wherever it is, in the safekeeping with God through that most faithful agent between God and man, Jesus Christ, who shall reconcile both God to man and man to God, [and] the spirit to the flesh and the flesh to the spirit" (The Resurrection of the Dead 63:1 [A.D. 210]). "In regard to that which is called the resurrection of the dead, it is necessary to defend the proper meaning of the terms ‘of the dead’ and ‘resurrection.’ The word ‘dead’ signifies merely that something has lost the soul, by the faculty of which it formerly lived. The term ‘dead’ then applies to a body. Moreover, if resurrection is of the dead, and ‘dead’ applies only to a body, the resurrection will be of a body. . . . ‘To rise’ may be said of that which never in any way fell, but which was always lying down. But ‘to rise again’ can only be said of that which has fallen; for by ‘rising again’ that which fell is said to ‘re- surrect.’ The syllable ‘re-’ always implies iteration [happening again]. We say, therefore, that a body falls to the ground in death . . . and that which falls, rises again" (Against Marcion 5:9:3–4 [A.D. 210]).

Aphraahat the Persian Sage …."Therefore be instructed by this, you fool, that each and every one of the seeds is clothed in its own body. Never do you sow wheat and reap barley, and never did you plant a vine and have it produce figs. But everything grows in accord with its own nature. So also the body which has been laid in the ground is the same which will rise again" (Treatises 8:3 [A.D. 340]).

Cyril of Jerusalem "This body shall be raised, not remaining weak as it is now, but this same body shall be raised. By putting on incorruption, it shall be altered, as iron blending with fire becomes GIANTS IN THE BIBLE: PROF.M.M.NINAN 13 fire—or rather, in a manner the Lord who raises us knows. However it will be, this body shall be raised, but it shall not remain such as it is. Rather, it shall abide as an eternal body. Epiphanius of Salamis "As for those who profess to be Christians . . . and who confess the resurrection of the dead, of our body and of the body of the Lord . . . but who at the same time say that the same flesh does not rise, but other flesh is given in its place by God, are we not to say that this opinion exceeds all others in impiety" (The Man Well-Anchored 87 [A.D. 374]).

The Nicene Creed "We confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins; we look for a resurrection of the dead and life in the age to come. Amen" (Nicene Creed [A.D. 381]).

Augustine .…"God, the wonderful and inexpressible Artisan, will, with a wonderful and inexpressible speed, restore our flesh from the whole of the material of which it was constituted, and it will make no difference to its reconstruction whether hairs go back to hairs and nails go back to nails, or whatever of these had perished be changed to flesh and be assigned to other parts of the body, while the providence of the Artisan will take care that nothing unseemly result" (Handbook of Faith, Hope, and Charity 23:89 [A.D. 421]).

Even after the redemption and immortal, every son of God in whatever realm of existence they are free beings who have total freedom of choice.

The Book of Enoch 1 Enoch 15:8-12 -- Rephaim, Nephilim, Giants, and Demons The Book of Enoch chapter 15 reports ancient oracles as saying, 8. And now the giants, who have been begotten from body and flesh, will be called evil spirits on earth, and their dwelling-places will be upon the earth. 9. Evil spirits proceed from their bodies; because they are created from above, their beginning and first basis being from the holy watchers, they will be evil spirits upon the earth, and will be called evil spirits. 10. But the spirits of heaven have their dwelling-places in heaven, and the spirits of the earth, who were born on the earth, have their dwelling-places on earth. 11. And the spirits of the giants, who cast themselves upon the clouds, will be destroyed and fall, and will battle and cause destruction on the earth, and do evil; they will take no kind of food, nor will they become thirsty, and they will be invisible. 12. And these spirits will not (?) rise up against the children of men and against the women, because they have proceeded from them, in the days of murder and destruction. The Fragment of the Book of Noah CHAPTER CVI. And I, Enoch, answered and said unto him: 'The Lord will do a new thing on the earth, and this I have already seen in a vision, and make known to thee that in the generation of my father Jared some of the angels of heaven transgressed the word of the Lord. 1. And behold they commit sin and transgress the law, and have united themselves with women and commit sin with them, and have married some of them, and have begot children by them. 17. And they shall produce on the earth giants not according to the spirit, but according to the flesh, and there shall be a great punishment on the earth, and the earth shall be cleansed from all impurity. 2. Yea, there shall come a great destruction over the whole earth, and there shall be a deluge and a great destruction for one year.

16. And this son who has been born unto you shall be left on the earth, and his three children shall be saved with him: when all mankind that are on the earth shall die [he and his sons shall be saved]. …… for I know the mysteries of the holy ones; for He, the Lord, has showed me and informed me, and I have read (them) in the heavenly tablets.

Matthew 22:29-30 says, "29 Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God. 30 For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven."

The Bible is clear that God has set a boundary between the "kinds," and that they cannot interbreed. 1 Corinthians 15:39 says, "39 All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds."

Genesis 1:24-27 says, "24 And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.

Angels can appear in human flesh as body, and do some things that bodies of flesh can do (like eat food etc as we see in many ocasions in the Bible.

Lot Genesis 19:1-3 says, "1 And there came two angels to Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom: and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground; 2 And he said, Behold now, my lords, turn in, I pray you, into your servant's house, and tarry all night, and wash your feet, and ye shall rise up early, and go on your ways. And they said, Nay; but we will abide in the street all GIANTS IN THE BIBLE: PROF.M.M.NINAN 15 night. 3 And he pressed upon them greatly; and they turned in unto him, and entered into his house; and he made them a feast, and did bake unleavened bread, and they did eat."), But angels do not have regular bodies of flesh and bones.

Angels are spirit-beings. Hebrews 1:7 says, "And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire." Hebrews 1:13-14 says, "13 But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool? 14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?”

By definition "Angels are those who are fixed with the nature of serving God and all Sons of God". However we use the term loosely to refer to all Spirit beings - Sons of God, Serving Angels, even Demons.

Spirit beings do not have flesh and bones even if they take human form. This is because they do not have material dimension. The form is only a shadow of their spiritual form.

Luke 24:38-39 says, “38 And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts? 39 Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.”

But we see that resurrected Jesus indeed had flesh and bones. But his body could by pass or go around walls. Did he not appear to disciples who were inside closed doors. So resurrected body of Jesus ( as ours will also be) existing in more dimensions than the material three dimensions. So will be all the Sons of Adam who are saved and brought back from the dead - resurrect humans. They wll be called Sons of God - yet fully human.

Even if some fallen angels - if they were not human - committed immorality with women, it would not have produced any offspring, because it would be crossing over between the "kinds" (making a half-man/half-angel). Evolution and change is limited within the species according to the Genesis creation story "only according to its kind". Within the species, yes they can evolve and mate and reproduce.

God does not allow conception between the “kinds” or between “strange flesh” encounters.

Hence if there was a fall from the " Sons of God" it would have to be the raptured or taken to heaven humans or any humans who had become Sons of God in its fullness in the manner of Enoch and Elijah. Having their resurrected changed bodies. As Sons of God they still have their freedom of choice and will. According to Jesus they don’t marry or are given in marriage. But fallen again they can do that in violation of God's laws. With their freedom they can fall into the desires of flesh. GIANTS IN THE BIBLE: PROF.M.M.NINAN 16

CHAPTER THREE: WHO ARE THE “SONS OF GOD”? SETHIANS Sons of God are descendants of Seth and Daughters of Men are descendants of Cain

Some considers Sons of Seth as equivalent to Sons of God through Adam. Since Adam is a Son of God all his children should be Sons of God. Then it must be true also of the Sons of Cain, as he is also a son of Adam. But these people identity Daughters of Men as ungodly female descendants of Cain. That is where the problem of this choice.

Others who who consider Cain as the son of the Serpent who is identified as Satan also seems to accept this. How can this be. If Cain is the son of Satan, his daughters are not sons ofAdam but daughters of Satan. Satan must be a human to produce children like Cain.

What is meant by this choice is they are referring to the godly descendants of Seth. As opposed to the ungodly female descendants of Cain. Their sin would then be one of religiously mixed marriages between the godly and the ungodly. It doesn’t explain the meaning of the Nephilim. Why should their children be giants. All children of Adam except a few persons as Enoch, Methuselah, Noah, Sham, and Heber went astray and became worshippers of idols and stars.

Moses ben Maimon, commonly known as Maimonides, and also referred to by the acronym Rambam, was a medieval Sephardic Jewish philosopher who became one of the most prolific and influential Torah scholars of the Middle Ages.

Verse 26 "Then began men to call upon the name of the Lord - The marginal reading is, Then began men to call themselves by the name of the Lord; which words are supposed to signify that in the time of Enos the true followers of God began to distinguish themselves, and to be distinguished by others, by the appellation of sons of God; those of the other branch of Adam's family, among whom the Divine worship was not observed, being distinguished by the name, children of men. It must not be dissembled ,huchal, which we translate began הוחל that many eminent men have contended that should be rendered began profanely, or then profanation began, and from this time they date the origin of idolatry. Most of the Jewish doctors were of this opinion, and Maimonides has discussed it at some length in his Treatise on Idolatry; as this piece is curious, and gives the most probable account of the origin and progress of idolatry, I GIANTS IN THE BIBLE: PROF.M.M.NINAN 18 shall insert it here.

"In the days of Enos the sons of Adam erred with great error, and the counsel of the wise men of that age became brutish, and Enos himself was (one) of them that erred; and their error was this: they said, Forasmuch as God hath created these stars and spheres to govern the world, and set them on high, and imparted honor unto them, and they are ministers that minister before him; it is meet that men should laud, and glorify, and give them honor. For this is the will of God, that we magnify and honor whomsoever he magnifieth and honoureth; even as a king would have them honored that stand before him, and this is the honor of the king himself. When this thing was come up into their hearts they began to build temples unto the stars, and to offer sacrifice unto them, and to laud and glorify them with words, and to worship before them, that they might in their evil opinion obtain favor of the Creator; and this was the root of idolatry, etc. And in process of time there stood up false prophets among the sons of Adam, which said that God had commanded and said unto them, Worship such a star, or all the stars, and do sacrifice unto them thus and thus; and build a temple for it, and make an image of it, that all the people, women, and children may worship it. And the false prophet showed them the image which he had feigned out of his own heart, and said it was the image of such a star, which was made known unto him by prophecy. And they began after this manner to make images in temples, and under trees, and on tops of mountains and hills, and assembled together and worshipped them, etc. And this thing was spread through all the world, to serve images with services different one from another, and to sacrifice unto and worship them. So, in process of time, the glorious and fearful name (of God) was forgotten out of the mouth of all living, and out of their knowledge, and they acknowledged him not.

And there was found no people on the earth that knew aught, save images of wood and stone, and temples of stone, which they had been trained up from their childhood to worship and serve, and to swear by their names. And the wise men that were among them, as the priests and such like, thought there was no God save the stars and spheres, for whose sake and in whose likeness they had made these images; but as for the Rock everlasting, there was no man that acknowledged him or knew him save a few persons in the world, as Enoch, Methuselah, Noah, Sham, and Heber. And in this way did the world walk and converse till that pillar of the world, Abraham our father, was born." Maimonides. - Clarke's Commentary on the Bible on Genesis 4:26 The Book of Jasher (also, Jashar) or the Book of the Upright or the Book of the Just Man

The Book of Jasher support the above thesis:

"And Seth lived one hundred and five years, and he begat a son; and Seth called the name of his son Enosh, saying, Because in that time the sons of men began to multiply, and to afflict their souls and hearts by transgressing and rebelling against God. And it GIANTS IN THE BIBLE: PROF.M.M.NINAN 19 was in the days of Enosh that the sons of men continued to rebel and transgress against God, to increase the anger of the Lord against the sons of men. And the sons of men went and they served other gods, and they forgot the Lord who had created them in the earth: and in those days the sons of men made images of brass and iron, wood and stone, and they bowed down and served them. And every man made his god and they bowed down to them, and the sons of men forsook the Lord all the days of Enosh and his children; and the anger of the Lord was kindled on account of their works and abominations which they did in the earth.

"And the Lord caused the waters of the river Gihon to overwhelm them, and he destroyed and consumed them, and he destroyed the third part of the earth, and notwithstanding this, the sons of men did not turn from their evil ways, and their hands were yet extended to do evil in the sight of the Lord.And in those days there was neither sowing nor reaping in the earth; and there was no food for the sons of men and the famine was very great in those days. And the seed which they sowed in those days in the ground became thorns, thistles and briers; for from the days of Adam was this declaration concerning the earth, of the curse of God, which he cursed the earth, on account of the sin which Adam sinned before the Lord. And it was when men continued to rebel and transgress against God, and to corrupt their ways, that the earth also became corrupt." - Jasher 2:2-9

According to this God even had a flood filling one third of the earth to destroy the heresy started by Enos.

"Then in his (Enos) days the children of men ceased from praying in the name of the Lord;''and the Targum of Jonathan is,"this was the age, in the days of which they began to err, and they made themselves idols, and surnamed their idols by the name of the Word of the Lord;'' with which agrees the note of Jarchi,"then they began to call the names of men, and the names of herbs, by the name of the blessed God, to make idols of them:''and some of them say, particularly Maimonides (r), that Enos himself erred, and fell into idolatry, and was the first inventor of images, by the mediation of which men prayed to God: but all this seems to be without foundation, and injurious to the character of this antediluvian patriarch; nor does it appear that idolatry obtained in the posterity of Seth, or among the people of God so early; nor is such an account agreeable to the history which Moses is giving of the family of Seth, in opposition to that of Cain; wherefore one or other of the former senses is best." This is not part of the scripture but the understanding or explanation of Jewish Rabbi. At any rate at least some of Jewish tradition object to the Sethic line as sons of God. The major problem in this argument of Sons of God as Sethic line and Sons of Man as Cainites is the fact we have corroboration to the identity of Sethic line Noah having married the Cainite Naamah. Hence we should expect the whole mankind has got the Nephillim gene. God has not killed all those violators and on the other hand chose one to continue the human line and to fill the earth with them!! Genesis 5 gives us the genealogy of Seth which ends with Noah and Genesis 4 gives us the genealogy of Cain which ends with a woman named Naamah.

The sons of God saw that the daughters of men were fair and took them as wives (Genesis 6:2), and Noah was one of these “sons of God” and the “daughter of man” that Noah took for a wife was named Naamah from the line of Cain, Daughter of Lamech through his wife Zillah and the sister of Tubal Cain.

Then Lamech took for himself two wives: the name of one was Adah, and the name of the second was Zillah. And Adah bore Jabal . . . his brother’s name was Jubal . . . And as for Zillah, she also bore Tubal-Cain . . . and the sister of Tubal-Cain was Naamah. (Genesis 4:19–22)

The early Jewish midrash Genesis Rabba (23.3) identifies this Naamah (the daughter of GIANTS IN THE BIBLE: PROF.M.M.NINAN 21 Lamech and sister of Tubal-cain) as the wife of Noah (see Rashi's commentary on Genesis 4:22). It is also found in the controversial book of Jasher. 11th-century Jewish commentator Rashi in his commentary on Genesis 4:22. also confirms this. Rabbi Abba bar Kahanah said: Na'amah was the wife of Noah, and why was she called Na'amah (pleasant one)? Since her deeds were pleasing , and our rabbis said:

There was another Na'amah, and why did they call her Na'amah? She played melodies on the drum to accompany idolatry".

Naamah the Mother of All Mankind The family of Cain is described at length in order to reveal the identity of the second mother of mankind - the first being Eve. Her name indicates that she deserved to survive. Inspite of the fact the mention of her family background would not have been complimentary to her, we are given that in detail. From her being saved it becomes clear that not all the descendants of Cain were without hope of redemption and therefore Cain received Divine Revelation. Rabbi Naftali Tzvi Yehuda Berlin comments in his commentary Ha'amek Davar on Genesis 4: 32 "from that which was good in Cain the world was established, through this woman, and he had the privilege of joining in the survival of the world with the seed of Seth, who were the purpose of creation".

If this is true, it will evidently makes it clear that the association of Sons of God as sons of Seth and Daughters of Man as daughters of Cain is totally invalid. Cain's progeny is like Eve, the Mother of All Living.

Again if this is true, the flood did not make any difference as far as the Nephilim genes were concerned. The only thing happened was the reduction of the life time of humans. Both Cain and Seth are with us in our genes. This will corroborate the statement "Nephilims were on the earth at that time and also afterwords" The rationale for choosing Naamah as the name for Noah’s wife is that some interpreters believe the mention of Naamah in Genesis 4:22 must have some special GIANTS IN THE BIBLE: PROF.M.M.NINAN 22 significance and that there was a town in Canaan conquered by Joshua named Naamah . http://www.propheticrevelation.net/misc/noah_ham_giants.htm

Jewish Encyclopedia gives the following explanation and excuse and explains why Noah was considered righteous: "Although Noah is styled "a just man and perfect in his generations" (Gen. vi. 9), the degree of his righteousness is, nevertheless, much discussed by the Rabbis. Some of the latter think that Noah was a just man only in comparison with his generation, which was very wicked, but that he could not be compared with any of the other righteous men mentioned in the Bible. These same rabbis go still further and assert that Noah himself was included in the divine decree of destruction, but that he found grace in the eyes of the Lord (comp. ib. vi. 8) for the sake of his descendants. Other rabbis, on the contrary, extol Noah's righteousness, saying that his generation had no influence on him, and that had he lived in another generation, his righteousness would have been still more strongly marked (Sanh. 108a; Gen. R. xxx. 10).

In like manner, the terms "wise" ("ḥakam") and "stupid" ("ba'ar") are applied to Noah by different rabbis (Ex. R. l. 2; Num. R. x. 9). Still, it is generally acknowledged that before the Flood, Noah was, by comparison with his contemporaries, a really up-rigḥt man and a prophet. He was considered as God's shepherd (Lev. R. i. 9; "Yalḳ. Ḥadash," "Mosheh," No. 128).

Two different reasons are given why Noah begat no children until he had reached the advanced age of 500 years, while his ancestors had families at a much younger age (comp. Gen. v.). One explanation is that Noah, foreseeing that a flood would destroy the world on account of its corruption, refused to marry on the ground that his offspring would perish. God, however, ordered him to take a wife, so that after the Flood he might re-people the earth (Tan., Bereshit, 39; "Sefer ha-Yashar," section "Noaḥ"). The other explanation is that God rendered him impotent till he reached the age of 500, saying: "If his children be wicked, he will be afflicted by their destruction; and if they be upright like their father, they will be troubled with making so many arks" (Gen. R. xxvi. 2).

The "Sefer ha-Yashar" (l.c.) and Gen. R. (xxii. 4) both agree that Noah's wife was called Naamah. According to the latter, she was the sister of Tubal-cain (Gen. iv. 21); according to the former, she was a daughter of Enoch, and Noah married her when he was 498 years old. In the Book of Jubilees (Hebr. transl. by Rubin, iv. 46-47) Noah's wife is referred to as "Emẓara, daughter of Raḳi'el." Emẓara was his niece, and two years after their marriage bore him Shem.

Book of Jasher Chapter 5 12 Noah the son of Lamech refrained from taking a wife in those days, to beget children, for he said, Surely now God will destroy the earth, wherefore then shall I beget children? 13And Noah was a just man, he was perfect in his generation, and the Lord chose him GIANTS IN THE BIBLE: PROF.M.M.NINAN 23 to raise up seed from his seed upon the face of the earth. 14 And the Lord said unto Noah, Take unto thee a wife, and beget children, for I have seen thee righteous before me in this generation. 15And thou shalt raise up seed, and thy children with thee, in the midst of the earth; and Noah went and took a wife, and he chose Naamah the daughter of Enoch, and she was five hundred and eighty years old. 16 And Noah was four hundred and ninety-eight years old, when he took Naamah for a wife. 17 And Naamah conceived and bare a son, and he called his name Japheth, saying, God has enlarged me in the earth; and she conceived again and bare a son, and he called his name Shem, saying, God has made me a remnant, to raise up seed in the midst of the earth. 18 And Noah was five hundred and two years old when Naamah bare Shem, and the boys grew up and went in the ways of the Lord, in all that Methuselah and Noah their father taught them. 19 And Lamech the father of Noah, died in those days; yet verily he did not go with all his heart in the ways of his father, and he died in the hundred and ninety-fifth year of the life of Noah. 20 And all the days of Lamech were seven hundred and seventy years, and he died.

Wives of the Children of Noah. Apart from the wife of Noah, there were three other women in the Ark. Here again the Bible is silent about who they were. However the book of Jasher give some details in this matter. Noah we are told preached for 120 years prior to the flood to being people to repent to avoid the flood. Jasher gives more details in this matter.

"And Noah rose up, and he made the ark, in the place where God had commanded him, and Noah did as God had ordered him. In his five hundred and ninety-fifth year Noah commenced to make the ark, and he made the ark in five years, as the Lord had commanded." (Jasher 5:33,34) Apparently after waiting for 115 years of continuous preaching of Noah which came to no change in the world, God asked him to make the ark. Noah and his children built the ark in five year. Then we are told that Noah took wives for his children. It was a last minute decision. Where could Noah find righteous wives for his three children? Apparently it was done just 7 days before the doors of ark was closed.

"Then Noah took the three daughters of Eliakim, son of Methuselah, for wives for his sons, as the Lord had commanded Noah. And it was at that time Methuselah the son of Enoch died, nine hundred and sixty years old was he, at his death". (Jasher 5:35,36) GIANTS IN THE BIBLE: PROF.M.M.NINAN 24

CHAPTER FOUR: WHO ARE THE “SONS OF GOD”? NOBLES The Third Explanation is that The Sons of God are Nobles in the Society. Those who hold the royalty position see the “sons of God” as polygamous kings, nobles, or tyrants who viewed themselves as gods. These kings lusted for power and “took wives” from among the common people, forcing them to join their harems. Their children held powers over common people and often perverted jusice. The Kings and special people often claimed themselves as gods. This is evident in Greek and Roman cultures specially. Targum Onqelos, Symmachus and the Samaritan Targum which read sons of the rulers , where Targum Neophyti reads sons of the judges . Again we cannot see any reason to assume why their descendants become giants. Unless we assume that giants simply mean evil or corrupt etc. It does not make sense. In this theory their offspring were called great/mighty men or princes. Then the word "giant" in this case does not means the giant size but "Nephilim" simply mean "gibborim" evil. Which is the meaning of Nephilim when combined with the word ‘gibborim’. So this simply means, the people of authority and power became evil and their children became evil as such. This of course does not explain the presence of the giants and explains only the perversion of the authorities. Is that not the characteristics of the fallen human demons? CHAPTER FIVE: WHO ARE THE “SONS OF GOD”? CHILDREN OF ADAM

I am adding a Fourth Explanation where Sons of God are children of Adam and Daughters of Men are the daughters of the Pre-Adamic people who lived outside of Eden.

Adam and Eve who were created by YHVH and placed in the Eden were of Giant size. God's garden provided nourishment and long life of a 900 years made them giants. Jewish tradition makes Adam around 90 feet tall. The pre-Adamic people created by Elohim in Genesis 1 on the sixth day. According to the fossils found around the world they were just 6 feet tall and lived only around 70 years. In this case probably what happened . The Adamic children born to Adam when they came outside of Eden were still giants. They married the daughters of men who were there produced giant children. Here there is no conflict of species because both are essentially human with physical bodies. The intermingling of these two humans produced giants following the genes of the Adamic humans. They were gibborims - evil and followed idol worship and the rituals of the children of men.

This will probably fit the description in every sense. The children of Adam are indeed Children of God and were giants.

Once Adam and Eve were thrown out into the wide earth they certainly had come into GIANTS IN THE BIBLE: PROF.M.M.NINAN 27 contact with the ordinary humans who were hunter gatherers of the earth. Since we are not given the names of the wives of the children of Adam and Eve and also the children of the progeny, we can very well assume that they took wives from among the nomads. They might have been strong and beautiful as the verse suggests. Since Adam's sons were of giant stature, the children born with them were of the giant stature. When the verse says there were giants on the earth at that time, we should think they were referring to the minority humans of the children of Adam. Adamic progeny were few in number compared the people of the wide earth. But after the flood, some of the genes were carried over and the size became really giant size since the height and size of the humans as well as that of theAdamic people after the flood was indeed only of the order of 6 feet. Thus the occasional giants were noticed. Apart from the post-flood conditions of earth and the fast decay rate and poor nourishment of the outside of Eden vegetables and other food, the marriage of Adamic people with the non-Adamic humans would have been another cause of decrease in the size and stature of the children of Adam. The giant Adamsons married normal less than 6 foot human women and eventually, every one became short. Only in rare cases the giants are formed - a lingering genes.

This is the simplest solution the problem, which explains every biblical observed facts. There is no need of any extraterrestial spiritual intrusion is required. In a sense Adam and Eve were the intrusion into the human world. GIANTS IN THE BIBLE: PROF.M.M.NINAN 28

CHAPTER SIX: ELIOUD

"They comprise three classes: the original giants, who begot the Nephilim, to whom in turn, were born the Elouid " (Book of Enoch, vii. 2).

One of giants mentioned in the Bible as a giant at Gath and his children is sometimes alleged to refer to the Elioud is stated as having six fingers on each hand and each foot.

The Nephilim are defined as children whose father is an angel and whose mother is a human and they are the "giants" (also known as Gibborim) referred to in the book of Numbers. But these definitions are pretty vague in that there are references in the non- canonical books that angels and human women produce children who are Gibborim, and the Nephilim have fathers who are Gibborim and human mothers.

1 Enoch 7:2 and 7:10-11. they are called just angels while in the Aramaic fragments found in Qumran Cave 4 they are called "Watchers". .Watchers are mentioned in Daniel 4:13, 17, 23 as the Holy Ones. and Book of Enoch describes the fall of the Watchers thus identifying the angels who fell as Watchers: "10 Then they took wives, each choosing for himself; whom they began to approach, and with whom they cohabited; teaching them sorcery, incantations, and the dividing of roots and trees. 11 And the women conceiving brought forth giants." The book of Jubilees 7:211-25 goes on the identify why God decided to wipe clean the earth:

The 1913 translation of R.H. Charles of the Book of Jubilees 7:21-25 reads as follows << 21 For owing to these three things came the flood upon the earth, namely, 1. owing to the fornication wherein the Watchers against the law of their ordinances went a whoring after the daughters of men, and took themselves wives of all which they chose: and they made the beginning of uncleanness. 22 And they begat sons the Naphidim, and they were all unlike, GIANTS IN THE BIBLE: PROF.M.M.NINAN 29 2. and they devoured one another: and the Giants slew the Naphil, and the Naphil slew the Eljo, and the Eljo mankind, and one man another.23 And every one sold himself to work iniquity and to shed much blood, and the earth was filled with iniquity. 3. 24And after this they sinned against the beasts and birds, and all that moves and walks on the earth: and much blood was shed on the earth, and every imagination and desire of men imagined vanity and evil continually. 25 And the Lord destroyed everything from off the face of the earth; because of the wickedness of their deeds, and because of the blood which they had shed in the midst of the earth He destroyed everything. >>

Some scholars suggest that the children of Elouid formed the hominids such as Neanderthal and others which are found in the fossil studies. Neanderthals were not the only hominin species that Adamic humans mated with, according to a new study East Asian populations share genes with a mysterious archaic hominin species that lived in Siberia, the Denisovans that are a close cousin to the Neanderthal. Neanderthals, lived in Europe, the Middle East and parts of western Asia from about 500,000 years ago to as recently as 30,000 years ago, say scientists. The amount of genetic variation throughout all modern human populations is surprisingly small and implies a recent origin for the common ancestor of us all. Accordingly, this agrees with Noah’s flood where in Genesis the Nephilim and their children are destroyed. Even if there were other incursions of fallen angels they never again corrupted humanity to the degree they had previously to the flood.

According to tradition, the Nephilim had enormous psychic abilities. They performed levitation, mind control, and remote viewing. They had the power of pronouncing and removing curses and diseases, and had ways of knowing and predicting the future. They were extremely intelligent. They knew all about science, architecture, and engineering. They combined these skills with their powers of intelligence to build the Pyramids and the other great monuments around the world. According to 1Enoch they created human sacrifice. They drank blood, were cannibals and taught abortion.

The book of Enoch states, "And the fifth was named Kasdeja: this is he who showed the children of men all the wicked smitings of spirits and demons, and the smitings of the embryo in the womb, that it may pass away, and the smitings of the soul the bites of the serpent…” (Enoch 69:12a)

The incarnation required that Jesus be of human origin. This is probably why Satan wanted tamper with the gene pool of man so that mankind may not be redeemed and the plans of God may be disrupted. They certainly tampered with both human and animal gene pools (Jasher) to try and hinder redemption through a human bloodline. They were the heroes of old, the mighty men of renown, talked about in mythology, and contributed to the reason God had to destroy the world and all its inhabitants in the Great Flood to make way for a clean start. Yes there were Nephilims even after the flood. But they were easily cleaned out. The giants after the Biblical period should be only due dis-function of body like any other disease. GIANTS IN THE BIBLE: PROF.M.M.NINAN 30 Bible says that "the Nephilim were on the earth in those days—and also afterward— Genesis 6:1–4, Nephilims were there on the earth there and also afterwards referring to the flood at the time of Noah. However there are some who assert that the Nephilims were not there after the flood. This stand will avoid the problem of how the giants reappeared after the flood. After all the destruction of the nephilims seems to be one of the prime reason for the flood - to wipe clean the earth and start afresh.

Otherwise we have to fall back on to the idea that one of ladies in the ark carried the Nephilim genes.

Here is the argument. It stands with the Doctrine of Paternal Spiritual Lineage which states that the spirit of the children comes from the Fathers and only the body comes from the Mothers. As a result even when giants are born, they will still have the spirit of Adam since Noah was a righteous man. It does not matter who the wives of the four in the ark were - they could even be Nephilims.

The Bible specifies that Noah was “perfect in his generations”. This can refer to being spotless or unblemished in his lineage. Why does God specify this? It would make sense that God said this to make clear that Noah was completely uncorrupted in his lineage, both paternal and maternal, having no ancestors that were related to the Nephilim-giants in any way. Noah was the paternal ancestor of every human who would come after the flood, his sons and all their children, who all humanity would be replenished from.

However, it is not specified that Noah’s wife, sons, nor daughter-in-law were “perfect in their generations”. It is therefore possible that Noah’s wife (and therefore Noah’s sons) or daughters-in-law (and therefore his grandchildren), were bodily related to the Nephilim. According to the doctrine of Paternal Spiritual Lineage, it did not matter if Noah’s wife was in fact even a Nephilim-giant, because Noah’s sons and all their children would have human-spirits, because Noah had a perfect human lineage and a human-spirit.

But it seems far more likely that Noah’s wife or daughters-in-law were humans, but unfortunately one or all were descended from a human-granddaughter of a Nephilim- giant. This would mean that while the women on the ark were human, not even giants, they could still carry the genes for hereditary gigantism, as well as genes causing a shortened lifespan. It could be argued that besides the stated exception of Noah, that his wife and sons’ flesh had also been somewhat corrupted, as all flesh had been corrupted, GIANTS IN THE BIBLE: PROF.M.M.NINAN 31 “And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted its way upon the earth.” (Gen 6:12)……. The human-giants after the flood did not have any atmospheric advantage, and there are indications they were in poor health, like those with gigantism today. For instance, one very plausible theory is that Goliath died by the stone hitting his head because of poor health and medical conditions which directly related to him having pituitary gigantism.

“And David put his hand into his bag and took from it a stone and slung it, and struck the Philistine on his forehead. And the stone sank into his forehead, so that he fell on his face to the ground. Thus David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone, and he struck the Philistine and killed him; but there was no sword in David’s hand.” 1 Sam 17:49-50

“Undoubtedly Goliath’s great size was due to acromegaly secondary to a pituitary macroadenoma. This pituitary adenoma was apparently large enough to induce visual field deficits by its pressure on the optic chiasm, which made Goliath unable to follow the young David as he circled him. The stone entered Goliath’s cranial vault through a markedly thinned frontal bone, which resulted from enlargement of the frontal paranasal sinus, a frequent feature of acromegaly. The stone lodged in Goliath’s enlarged pituitary and caused a pituitary hemorrhage, resulting in transtentorial herniation and death.”

(Deut 3:1-11, Josh 11:21)

God had the Israelites kill off these giant tribes entirely (men, women, and children), and this was likely for one very understandable reason.

Using modern hereditary gigantism as a model, esp. FIPA (Familial Isolated Pituitary Adenomas ), each successive generation has a younger onset for the illness. This means that what might start as acromegaly, with adult onset, in a few generations would be more likely to result in gigantism that begins in childhood. That is for those who do express the genes and have gigantism. At the same time, most people in the family are carriers who do not get the disorder, and some do not even carry it. In modern cases, an entire family or village of giants doesn’t happen. But there is a reason why.

It is very likely that the only way that you would get this genetic disorder to be so strongly reinforced as to have an entire tribes of giants, where every man, woman, and child has the genetic disorder, is by inbreeding. The scientific understanding of hereditary gigantism supports this assertion. (3,8) And we know that these people did practice inbreeding. God confirms these nations practiced inbreeding in Leviticus 18, and this is what it would take to get entire villages of giants, in which every man woman GIANTS IN THE BIBLE: PROF.M.M.NINAN 32 and child was a giant. For instance, FIPA is a dominant trait with only incomplete penetration, meaning it acts recessive in many ways, and so it would be almost impossible to get a whole village of giant people, except if the trait was reinforced through inbreeding, like the close inbreeding Lev 18 mentions, making the trait to show very dominantly…..

“And yet again there was war at Gath, where was a man of [great] stature, whose fingers and toes [were] four and twenty, six [on each hand], and six [on each foot]: and he also was the son of the giant. But when he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimea David’s brother slew him. These were born unto the giant in Gath; and they fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.” 1 Ch 20:6-8

Like a quarantine, to save much more of humanity from the genetic disorder of gigantism, God had these tribes of giant people to be killed. This was a mercy on any children they may have had, and future generations, as gigantism is a very painful, deforming and disabling genetic disorder. Autosomal dominant disease with incomplete penetrance. In this case, the father's abnormal gene was inherited by 2 of his 4 children. Out of the three carriers (the father, one son and one daughter) two patients developed the disease (father and daughter) while the third carries the gene but has not developed the disease. We do not know if this third person (the carrier son in this case) will develop the disease in the future or not, and currently it is not possible to predict this.

Families with pituitary adenomas, FIPA families, can be divided into two groups. § In about 80% of families the gene causing the disease is unknown. The pituitary tumour types occurring in these families are most commonly growth hormone-secreting adenomas (causing acromegaly or acromegalic gigantism), prolactin-secreting adenomas (prolactinomas) or non-functioning pituitary adenomas (NFPA), very rarely ACTH-secreting adenomas (causing Cushing's disease) or TSH-secreting adenomas. The disease most often starts in adulthood, very rarely in childhood (average age of disease onset in our cohort for AIP negative FIPA patients is 38 years). We still have giants even today due this disorder.

What about Robert Wadlow? He was born in Alton, Illinois, in 1918. At 8 years old, he was 6’0". At 11 years old, he was 6’7".At 14 years old, he was 7’5". At 17 years old, he was 8’1/2". At 22 years old he was over 8’11" — almost 9’ tall. He died in Manistee, Michigan. His shoes were size 37AA. Was he the result of an angel? No. He was just a big man. (Guinness Book Of World Records, 1976).

How did the Nephilim appear after the flood? But those who do not consider the Doctrine of Paternal Spiritual Lineage as only an assumption to circumvent the problem will still have to answer how they came. We certainly have giants after the flood and continuing even today.

The Bible tells us that beings of giant physical stature lived both before and after the Flood (Genesis 6:4; Deuteronomy 2:10–12, 20–23). After the Flood, giants appear in the Bible as descendants of Ham’s son Canaan; they were living in Canaan when Moses sent agents to spy out the land (Numbers 13:1–2, 32–33).

It is not specified that Noah’s wife, sons, nor daughter-in-law were “perfect in their generations”. It is therefore possible that Noah’s wife (and therefore Noah’s sons) or daughters-in-law (and therefore his grand children), were bodily related to the Nephilim.

Og, King of Bashan, was the last recorded giant east of the Jordan River (Joshua 12:4; 13:12). After Joshua’s conquest of Canaan (Joshua 11:21–22), a few giants continued GIANTS IN THE BIBLE: PROF.M.M.NINAN 34 living in the Philistine cities of Gaza, Gath and Ashdod. These giants terrorized the Israelites from the time they entered into Canaan until late in the reign of King David. One of those giants was Goliath, whom David killed. King David and his "mighty men" also encountered other giants (2 Samuel 21:16–22;1 Chronicles 20:4–8). We will now take up the post-flood giants stories.

But we can trace them all from the original Giants Nephilim who were there before the flood and the scripture reminds us that they were there also after the flood.

The name Nephilim literally means “fallen ones”. As we have discussed earlier, the Nephilim came from Sons of God mixing with human women (Gen 6:2), We hare discussed various interpretation who these Sons of God are and who these Daughters of Man are. The book of Enoch identifies Sons of God as Angels, particulary identifies them as a class of angels called Watchers.

In the Book of Enoch, the watchers are angels dispatched to Earth to watch over the humans. Watcher is a term used in connection with biblical angels. Watcher occurs in both plural and singular forms in the Book of Daniel, where reference is made to their holiness. Watcher comes from the root of Hebrew. "ʿer", meaning "awake, watchful";Greek: ἐγρήγοροι, (Grgori,) "Watchers", "those who are awake"; "guard", "watcher" is a term used in connection with biblical angels. Evidently these angels were supposed to be servants of God who were supposed to be watching the humans on the earth. They were "Sons of God" in authority over humans. Thus we see Daniel 4:17 "This sentence is by the decree of the watchers, and the decision by the word of the holy ones: that the living may know that the Most High rule over the kingdom of men, and give it to whomsoever he will, and set up over it the basest of men." Watcher occurs in both plural and singular forms in the Book of Daniel (4th–2nd century BC), where reference is made to their holiness and their authority over mankind. Evidently they had freedom to choose and some of them choose evil. Since they had the freedom of will, GIANTS IN THE BIBLE: PROF.M.M.NINAN 35 they should be part of the proper "Sons of God". Aramaic irin "watchers" is rendered as "angel" (Greek angelos, Coptic malah) in the Greek and Ethiopian translations, although the usual Aramaic term for angel malakha does not occur in Aramaic Enoch. The apocryphal Books of Enoch (2nd–1st centuries BC) refer to both good and bad Watchers, with a primary focus on the rebellious ones. Apparently they soon begin to lust for human women and, at the prodding of their leader Samyaza, defect en masse to illicitly instruct humanity and procreate among them. Hence we have the reference to them as "the fallen ones". There were 200 of these "Sons of God" who violated God's basic orders to keep their domains and had 10 leaders.

Enoch is not part of the Bible, the book of Jude quotes from it and hence most consider it as an reliable book.

The book of Enoch records how “in the days of Jared” angels left their position as authorities and correctors of humans and came down to the earth and had sexual relations with women which produced the giants Nephilim. This took place near the Mount Hermon just north of Bashan (where the giant Og later reigned as the last king of the Nephilim). .Peter says that these fallen angels are kept in prison and are waiting judgment (1 Pet 3:19; Jude 6)

Over time, this race of giants evolved into various clans and tribes after the fashion of the humans of earth and extended their domains and migrated southward east of the Jordan River through the region of Ammon, Moab and Edom (south of the Dead Sea). Eventually some branches of this giant race migrated across the Jordan River with some settling into the hill country of southern Canaan, and some migrating as far as the coastal plain in the region of Gaza. We know that there were giants all over the world since the daughters of man were distributed all over the world. These stories are not given in the Bible.

Inside the middle east we know that a coalition led by Chedorlaomer, the Philistines, the Moabites, the Ammonites, and the Edomites, along with the Israelites were able to totally destroy them in that area. The last Giant King to be killed was Og who was 13 feet tall. Over the years probably these giants were becoming shorter, generation after generation and 400 years later in David’s day the giant Goliath was only 9 feet tall. And Goliath’s younger colleague, Ishbi-Benob, seems to have been weaker than Goliath because he used a spearhead that was only half the size of Goliath’s spearhead. The Israelites under Joshua and Caleb destroyed most of the race of giants remaining in the region of Canaan. But they did not destroy all because they left a few who were living in the Philistine cities of Gaza, Gath, and Ashdod GIANTS IN THE BIBLE: PROF.M.M.NINAN 36

CHAPTER SEVEN: NIMROD

Nimrod was the son of Cush, the grandson of Ham, and the great grandson of Noah began to be a giant upon the earth. Cush is again the name of the region Sudan and Ethiopia of today. Apparently Nimrod ruled these regions. He was not a giant, but he was a giant hunter; therefore they say, As Nimrod the giant hunter before the Lord. - Genesis 10:8,9 (LXX)

"The first among the leaders of the corrupt men was Nimrod. His father Cush had married his mother at an advanced age, and Nimrod, the offspring of this belated union, GIANTS IN THE BIBLE: PROF.M.M.NINAN 37 was particularly dear to him as the son of his old age. He gave him the clothes made of skins with which God had furnished Adam and Eve at the time of their leaving Paradise. Cush himself had gained possession of them through Ham. From Adam and Eve they had descended to Enoch, and from him to Methuselah, and to Noah, and the last had taken them with him into the ark. When the inmates of the ark were about to leave their refuge, Ham stole the garments and kept them concealed, finally passing them on to his first-born son Cush. Cush in turn hid them for many years. When his son Nimrod reached his twentieth year, he gave them to him.

These garments had a wonderful property. He who wore them was both invincible and irresistible. The beasts and birds of the woods fell down before Nimrod as soon as they caught sight of him arrayed in them, and he was equally victorious in his combats with men. The source of his unconquerable strength was not known to them. They attributed it to his personal prowess, and therefore they appointed him king over themselves"

It was in this area that Nimrod was born, and would eventually depart from there to Shinar to establish the following important “Middle Eastern” Biblical cities (Genesis 10:10): Babel, Erech, Accad, Calneh These places were located in Shinar, the area currently known as Iraq.

Nimrod was often depicted as a mighty warrior, giant and possibly a hunter and subduer of giants as well. In fact, giants are even said to have helped him build the Tower of Babel. An Arabic manuscript found at Baalbek says: "After the flood, when Nimrod reigned over Lebanon, he sent giants to rebuild the GIANTS IN THE BIBLE: PROF.M.M.NINAN 38 fortress of Baalbek, which was so named in honour of Baal, the god of the Moabites and worshippers of the Sun."

Josephus says Nimrod tried to ascribe success not by the power of God but my the power of human ingenuity. In this he was defying God.

“Now it was Nimrod who excited them to such an affront and contempt of God. He was the grandson of Ham, the son of Noah, a bold man, and of great strength of hand. He persuaded them not to ascribe it to God, as if it were through his means they were happy, but to believe that it was their own courage which procured that happiness. He also gradually changed the government into tyranny, seeing no other way of turning men from the fear of God, but to bring them into a constant dependence on his power. He also said he would be revenged on God, if he should have a mind to drown the world again; for that he would build a tower too high for the waters to reach. And that he would avenge himself on God for destroying their forefathers.

Nimrod’s name means rebel. Apparently his rebellion was against YHVH for he believed that YHVH killed his forefathers in the flood. Therefore, Nimrod refused adherence to, and opposed by force, God’s righteous governing authority. So defiant of God was Nimrod that he built the city Babel and the great Tower of Babel. From this we see the pattern of secular humanism and the resulting tyranny of a dictatorial government.

Israel. Gibborim does not necessarily define a Nephilim. Gibborim accurately describes Nimrod, since he was a “potentate and tyrant,” Nimrod was not really a giant. He probably was an atheist who believed that God is nothing but another being who lived in the sky. Sky in the ancient understanding was a canopy over the earth. Hence Nimrod decideed to reach the sky by building a tall tower and then killing God and his army of angels. Just as he was able to defeat other kings, he thought he could defeat and kill God also and take over the skies.

Gilgamesh is Nimrod This stone relief of eighth century BC found at Khorsabad, is identified as Gilgamesh. The best-known of ancient Mesopotamian heroes, Gilgamesh was king of Uruk in southern Mesopotamia. His story is known in the poetic Gilgamesh Epic, but there is no historical evidence for his exploits in the story. He is described as part god and part man, a great builder and warrior, and a wise man in the story. Dr. David Livingston, Associates for Biblical Research suggests Gilgamesh is to be identified with Biblical Nimrod (Genesis 10:8-12).

What Josephus says here is precisely what is found in the Gilgamesh epics. Gilgamesh set up tyranny, he opposed YHWH and did his utmost to get people to forsake Him.

Two of the premiere commentators on the Bible in Hebrew have this to say about Genesis 10:9,

Nimrod was mighty in hunting, and that in opposition to YHWH; not ‘before YHWH’ in the sense of according to the will and purpose of YHWH, still less,… in a simply superlative sense… The name itself, ‘Nimrod’ from marad, ‘We will revolt,’ points to some violent resistance to God… Nimrod the hunter became a tyrant, a powerful hunter of men (Keil and Delitzsch 1975: 165).

“in the face of YHWH” can only mean ‘in defiance of YHWH’ as Josephus and the Targums understand it (op. cit.: 166).

Genesis 10:8-10 Cush begat Nimrod; he began to be a tyrant in the Earth. He was a tyrannical hunter in opposition to the Lord. Thus it is said, 'Nimrod the tyrannical opponent of YHWH.'

This face supposedly represents Huwawa who, according to the Gilgamesh's Epic, sent the Flood on the Earth. According to the story, Huwawa (Humbaba in the Assyrian version) was killed by Gilgamesh and his half man, half beast friend, Enkidu. Huwawa is the ancient pagan perspective of Yahweh (YHWH), the God of the Bible. About 3 in (7.5 cm), this mask is dated to around the sixth century BC. The Gilgamesh Epic describes the first “God is dead”. In the Epic, the hero is a vile, filthy, perverted person, yet he is presented as the greatest, strongest, hero that ever lived (Alexander Heidel, 1963: 18). So that the one who sent the Flood will not trouble them anymore, Gilgamesh sets out to kill the perpetrator. He takes with him a friend who is a monstrous half-man, half-animal-Enkidu. Together they go on a long journey to the Cedar Mountain with his tall Tower that reach all the way to the dome of the sky to find and destroy the monster who sent the Flood. Gilgamesh finds him and finally succeeds in cutting off the head of this creature whose name is “Huwawa” (“Humbaba” in the Assyrian version; see Heidel 1963: 34ff).

Because of the parallels between Gilgamesh and Nimrod, many scholars agree that Gilgamesh is Nimrod. Continuing with Gilgamesh's fable, he did win, he did vanquish Huwawa and took his head. The Babylonian Flood Story is told on the 11th tablet of the Gilgamesh Epic, almost 200 lines of poetry on 12 clay tablets inscribed in cuneiform script. A number of different versions of the Gilgamesh Epic have been found around the ancient Near East, most dating to the seventh century BC. The most complete version came from the library of Ashurbanipal at Nineveh. Commentators agree that the story comes from a much earlier period, not too long after the Flood as described in the story. Two commentators on the Bible in Hebrew has this to say about Genesis 10:9, "Nimrod was mighty in hunting, and that in opposition to YHVH; not "before YHVH" in the sense of according to the will and purpose of YHVH, still less, . . . in a simply superlative sense . . . The name itself, "Nimrod" from marad, "we will revolt," points to some violent resistance to God . . . Nimrod as a mighty hunter founded a powerful kingdom; and the founding of this kingdom is shown by the verb with vav consecutive, to have been the consequence or result of his strength in hunting, so that hunting was intimately connected with the establishing of the kingdom. Hence, if the expression "a mighty hunter" relates primarily to hunting in the literal sense, we must add to the literal meaning the figurative signification of a "hunter of men" (a trapper of men by stratagem and force); Nimrod the hunter became a tyrant, a powerful hunter of men (Keil and Delitzsch 1975: 165).

Is Nimrod the Anti-Christ? “Over the years, biblical scholar Gary Stearman has written extensively about Nimrod (Apollo/Osiris/Gilgamesh) and the connection this historical figure has with Babylonian Mystery Religion, Watchers, Nephilim (including their resurrection), and the spirit of the end-times Antichrist and revival of paganism. He too appears to believe the coming of Antichrist represents a return of Nimrod. CHAPTER EIGHT: THE AMORITES

In fact, as a son of Canaan, Amorreus who as the father of theAmorite giants, would have been a direct, contemporary cousin to Nimrod. Nimrod's other cousin, Caphtorim is the father of a group of people we later discover had giants within their midst, namely Goliath and his brothers who were "the sons of a giant in Gath." Thus it is certain that Canaan carried the genes of the giants over the period of flood into the history of the new beginning of humanity Many Giants and Giant tribes appear in the Bible. The problem is that these giants are inter-related that any attempt to classify and ennunciate their history will be of no use.

These were different clans within the Giant Tribe, They were inter-related and probably all started from Canaan. It is not possible to categorize them in isolated groups because Bible often calls them by several names. The giant sons of Anak were among the Amorites at Hebron (Numbers 13:22) called for a time as Kiriath Arba (Joshua 14:15; Joshua 15:13-14 from their giant father) "Debir, Ahab, and the mountains of Judah and Israel Joshua 11:21. The valley of Rephaim" (2 Samuel 5:18), southwest of Jerusalem, connects this giant race with the Amorites, as does the fact that Og, king of the Amorites in Bashan, was "of the remnant of the Rephaim" (Deuteronomy 3:11; Joshua 12:4; Joshua 13:19). The Anakim were sons of Anak, who was a son of Arba, who was a (distant?) son of Amorreus, who was a son of Canaan, who generated Amorites,

The Zamzummim were a race of giants, who are mentioned only once in the Bible, namely in Deuteronomy 2:20, where we learn that the Ammonites used to call them that, but to the Hebrews these guys were known as the Rephaim. These Zamzummim were a people as great, numerous and tall as the Anakim, but YHWH destroyed them so that the Ammonites could move into their territory. They inhabited the region East of the Jordan which was occupied by the Ammonites later who displaced them. They are identified with the Rephaim (Deuteronomy 2:20). They may be the same as the Zuzim mentioned in connection with the Rephaim in Genesis 14:5. Horites (who were cave dwellers - troglodytes):

The Horims also dwelt in Seir beforetime; but the children of Esau succeeded them, when they had destroyed them from before them, and dwelt in their stead; as Israel did unto the land of his possession, which the LORD gave unto them. - Deuteronomy 2:12 (KJV)

The name Arba means "four" in Hebrew. The International Standard Bible Encyclopedia states: GIANTS IN THE BIBLE: PROF.M.M.NINAN 45 ar'-ba ('arba`, "four"): Variously described as "the greatest man among the Anakim" (Joshua 14:15), "the father of Anak" (Joshua 15:13), "the father of Anak" (Joshua 21:11 margin). Thus he seems to have been regarded as the ancestor of the Anakim, and as the most famous hero of that race. He was the reputed founder of the city called after him, on the site of which Hebron was built (Joshua 21:11).

Clarke's Commentary on the Bible gives us more insight: And the name of Hebron before was Kirjath-arba - That is, the city of Arba, or rather, the city of the four, - kiryath arba. Joshua 15:14, says that Caleb drove from Hebron the three sons of Anak, Sheshai, Ahiman, and Talmai. These may be three of theArba - four giants who were in Hebron and who were probably rulers of the montain tribee. Joshua 15:13 says that Arba was the father of Anak.

The Amorites are mentioned more than 80 times in Scripture. The term Amorites is used in the Bible to refer to certain highland mountaineers who inhabited the land of Canaan, described in Genesis 10:16 as descendants of Canaan, the son of Ham.

Amorites: A people descended from Emer, the fourth son of Canaan, according to the book of Genesis (Genesis 10:15–16) They occupied the hill country of the Amorites (Deuteronomy 1:7, 19-20) The Amorite name means literally "the high one" and may refer to one (or more) of three possibilities: the mountainous terrain of the land they occupied (Num. 13:29; Deut. 1:7,19-20); their fearsome military prowess (Deut. 1:44); or their great stature (Num. 13:33). Here we see how the Giant genes escaped and entered into the post-deluge world. Canaan somehow had the genes in him.

While the Amorites are mentioned in the same contexts as other giants a few times, they are specifically described as giants in the Minor Prophets. “Yet it was I who destroyed the Amorite before them, whose height was like the height of the cedars, and he was as strong as the oaks; yet I destroyed his fruit above and his roots beneath. Also it was I who brought you up from the land of Egypt, and led you forty years through the wilderness, to possess the land of the Amorite” (Amos 2:9–10).

The idea that the Amorites were giants is supported by the report of the spies whom Moses sent through the land of Canaan. The Amorites were one of the people groups they saw (Numbers 13:29), and they claimed that “all the people whom we saw in it are men of great stature” (Numbers 13:32). It is telling that in their response, Joshua and Caleb did not challenge the size of the land’s inhabitants (Numbers 14:6–9).

Hammurabi was an Amorite First Dynasty king of the city-state of Babylon, and inherited the power from his father, Sin-Muballit, in c. 1792 BC. Hammurabi[a] (c. 1810 BC – c. 1750 BC) is best known for having issued the Code of Hammurabi, which he claimed to have received from Shamash, the Babylonian god of justice. Unlike earlier Sumerian law codes, such as the Code of Ur-Nammu, which had focused on compensating the victim of the crime, the Law of Hammurabi was one of the first law codes to place greater emphasis on the physical punishment of the perpetrator. It proscribed specific penalties for each crime and is among the first codes to establish the presumption of innocence. Although its penalties are extremely harsh by modern standards, they were GIANTS IN THE BIBLE: PROF.M.M.NINAN 48 intended to limit what a wronged person was permitted to do in retribution. The Code of Hammurabi and the Law of Moses in the Torah contain numerous similarities, but these are probably due to shared background and oral tradition, and is unlikely that Hammurabi's laws exerted any direct impact on the later Mosaic ones.

Regarding the Amorites, they appear quite a number of times in the Scriptures. One of the first Amorites we meet by name is found as early as Genesis 13.

Mamre is a very interesting character in the Bible. In Genesis 14:13, we learn that he has two other brothers, Eshcol and Aner. These three were Abram's allies in the land of the Canaanites. According to J.B. Jackson's, "A Dictionary of Scripture Proper Names" their names mean: Mamre, Eshcol and Aner were three early descendants of Canaan's son Amorreus, from whom came all of the Amorites derived. The Amorite king, Og, was described as the last "of the remnant of the Rephaim" (Deuteronomy 3:11). The terms Amorite and Canaanite seem to be used more or less interchangeably, Canaan being more general and Amorite a specific component among the Canaanites who inhabited the land.

The Biblical Amorites seem to have originally occupied the region stretching from the heights west of the Dead Sea (Gen. 14:7) to Hebron (13:8; Deut. 3:8; 4:46–48), embracing "all Gilead and all Bashan" (Deut. 3:10), with the Jordan valley on the east of the river (4:49), the land of the "two kings of the Amorites".

Sihon and Og (Deut. 31:4; Joshua 2:10; 9:10). Both Sihon and Og were independent kings. The Amorites seem to have been linked to the Jerusalem region, and the Jebusites may have been a subgroup of them (Ezek. 16:3). The southern slopes of the mountains of Judea are called the "mount of the Amorites" (Deut. 1:7, 19, 20). Five kings of the Amorites were first defeated with great slaughter by Joshua (Josh. 10:5). Then, more Amorite kings were defeated at the waters of Merom by Joshua (Josh. 11:8). It is mentioned that in the days of Samuel, there was peace between them and the Israelites (1 Sam. 7:14). The Gibeonites were said to be their descendants, being an offshoot of the Amorites who made a covenant with the Hebrews. When Saul later broke that vow and killed some of the Gibeonites, God sent a famine to Israel.

By the time of Samuel's judgeship, "there was peace between Israel and the Amorites" (1 Sam. 7:14). Less than a century later, Solomon forced menial servitude upon the last few survivors (1 Kgs. 9:20-21). The Amorites are last mentioned by the prophet Amos (2:10), apparently either having died out as a race or absorbed into Israel. All that is left is but a memory of their great sin (cf. 1 Kgs. 21:26; 2 Kgs. 21:11).

The historian Marc Van de Mieroop writes:The Amorites were semi-nomadic groups from northern Syria, whom Babylonian literature described in extremely negative terms: The Amorite, he is dressed in sheep’s skins; He lives in tents in wind and rain; He doesn’t offer sacrifices. Armed vagabond in the steppe, He digs up truffles and is restless. He eats raw meat, Lives his life without a home, And, when he dies, he is not buried according to proper rituals . It is thought that Terah, in taking his family from Sumer, retained the tribe’s original ethnic identity and brought that cultural heritage with him to Canaan where Abraham, then Isaac, and then Jacob would establish that culture as `the children of Israel’ (Jacob’s name).

The Book of Genesis tells the story of Joseph, Jacob’s youngest son, and his sojourn in Egypt and rise to power there, and the Book of Exodus relates how the Hebrews were later enslaved by the Egyptians and were led from captivity to freedom back in Canaan by Moses. These biblical narratives would have served to separate the Israelites' national identity from their actual ancestors by creating new histories that highlighted their uniqueness among the people of the world.

In Cappadocian Zircirli inscriptions he is called Hi Abi-a, 'the god of my father'. .Accordingly, it has been suggested by L. R. Bailey (1968) and Jean Ouelette (1969), that this Bel Sade might be the same as the Biblical El Saddai who is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the "Priestly source" of narrative, according to the documentary hypothesis. It is possible that Saddai means 'He of the mountains'.

Historically, these Amorites seem to have been linked to the Jerusalem region, and the Jebusites (which means People of the Mountains) may have been a subgroup of them. The southern slopes of the mountains of Judea are called the "mount of the Amorites" (Deut. 1:7, 19, 20). One possible etymology for "Mount Moriah" is "Mountain of the Amorites,"

The way of Amorites To the apocryphal writers of the first and second pre-Christian century the Amorites are the main representatives of heathen superstition, loathed as idolaters, in whose ordinances Israelites may not walk (Lev. xviii. 3). Amorite-Canaanite-Phoenician-Aramean-Hebrew all came from a common Semitic stock. Since the Egyptian tomb paintings show them with blue eyes, we certainly have a genetic affinity to the blue eyes . According to the Book of Jubilees (xxix. 11), "the former terrible giants, the Rephaim, gave way to the Amorites, an evil and sinful people whose wickedness surpasses that of any other, and whose life will be cut short on earth." In the Syriac Apocalypse of Baruch they are symbolized by "black water" on account of "their black art, their witchcraft and impure mysteries, by which they contaminated Israel in the time of the Judges." This refers to the strange story of Kenaz, preserved in the "Chronicle of Jerahmeel" (Cohn in "Jew. Quart. Rev." 1898, pp. 294 et seq., and translation of Gaster, p. 166), which relates how the tribes of Israel learned all their wickedness from the Amorites, the masters of witchcraft, whose books they kept hidden under Mount Abarim, and whose wonder-working idols—seven holy nymphs—they had concealed beneath Mount Shechem. Each of these idols was adorned with precious stones, which shone at night like the light of day, and by their power sight was restored to the blind. Kenaz, the son of Caleb and father of Othniel, when hearing of this, forthwith destroyed the idolatrous Israelites by fire, but tried in vain to destroy either the magic-books or thestones. So he buried the books, but in the morning found them transformed into twelve precious stones, with the names of the twelve tribes of Israel engraved thereon, and later they were used in Solomon's Temple. Then, with the help of the angel Gabriel, he smote the Amorites with blindness and destroyed them with his sword.

Indo-European hypothesis The view that Amorites were fierce, tall nomads led to an anachronistic theory among some racialist writers in the 19th century that they were a tribe of "Aryan" warriors who at one point dominated the Israelites. Then, the evidence fitted then-current models of Indo-European migrations. The theory originated with Felix von Luschan, who later abandoned it.

Houston Stewart Chamberlain claimed that King David and Jesus were both Aryans of Amorite extraction. The argument was repeated by the Nazi ideologue Alfred Rosenberg.

In reality, however, the Amorites certainly spoke exclusively a Semitic language, followed Semitic religions of the Near East and had distinctly Semitic personal names. Their origins were believed to have been the lands immediately to the west of Mesopotamia, in the Levant (modern Syria), and so they are regarded as one of the Semitic peoples. CHAPTER NINE: REPHAIM

Rephaim , a race of giants (Deu 3:11) sons of Rapha who lived on the east of Jordan. Anakim, Zuzim, and Emim were all branches of this stock. (Sam2 21:16, Sam2 21:18, Sam2 21:20, 33, " Ch1 20:5, Ch1 20:6, Ch1 20:8; Deu 2:11, Deu 2:20; Deu 3:13; Jos 15:8) It is rendered "dead" in Psa 88:10; Pro 2:18; Pro 9:18; Pro 21:16, Isa 26:14. with connections to the Had

Apart from the mention of Nephilims there were other groups of giants mentioned in the Bible. It is not mentioned how they came into existence. One of the earliest mentions of the list of giants in Scripture is found in Genesis 14. Genesis 14 does not reveal that the Rephaim, Zuzim, Emim, or Amorites were giants, but this information can be found in other places. Deuteronomy 2:10-10:11 "The Emites used to live there—a people strong and numerous, and as tall as the Anakites. Like the Anakites, they too were considered Rephaites, but the Moabites called them Emites. Horites used to live in Seir, but the descendants of Esau drove them out. They destroyed the Horites from before them and settled in their place, just as Israel did in the land the Lord gave them as their possession….

That too was considered a land of the Rephaites, who used to live there; but the Ammonites called them Zamzummites. They were a people strong and numerous, and as tall as the Anakites. The Lord destroyed them from before the Ammonites, who drove them out and settled in their place. The Lord had done the same for the descendants of Esau, who lived in Seir, when he destroyed the Horites from before them. They drove them out and have lived in their place to this day."

Thus we may assume that Anakites, Emites, Ammonites, Zamzummites were all one group of giants that are same as Repahite

Repheim were a race of aboriginal or early inhabitants East of the Jordan in Ashterothkarnaim (Genesis 14:5) and in the valley of Rephaim Southwest of Jerusalem (Joshua 15:8). They are associated with other giant races, as the Emim and Anakim (Deuteronomy 2:10, 11) and the Zamzummim (Deuteronomy 2:20). It is probable that GIANTS IN THE BIBLE: PROF.M.M.NINAN 53 they were all of the same stock, being given different names by the different tribes who came in contact with them. REPHAIM is used to comprehend all the gigantic races of the Canaanites, of whom there were several families.

The Hebrew word Rephaim is used in two distinct significations. One referring to the giants and the other referrs to those who are in Sheol. We will not deal with the second meaning here. We are only talking about giant group known as Rephaim.

.repha'-im, from rapha', "a terrible one "hence "giant," in 1 Chronicles 20:4, yelidhe ha-rapha', "sons of the giant"; There were Rephaim beyond Jordan, at Ashtaroth Karnaim, In the time of Abraham. Genesis 14:5; In the time of Moses. Og king of Bashan was of the Rephaim.; In the time of Joshua, some of their descendants dwelt in the land of Canaan, Joshua 12:4 17:15, In David's time, they were in the city of Gath, 1 Chronicles 20:4-6. The giant Goliath and others were the remains of the Rephaim, or of the kindred family of Anakim. Their magnitude and strength are often spoken of in Scripture. They appear to have excelled in violence and crime, and hence are monuments of divine justice. They lived in the region known as VALE OF REPHAIM,

This was a fertile vale (Isaiah 17:5), to the Southwest of Jerusalem (Joshua 15:8; Joshua 18:16; the King James Version "Valley of the Giants"), on the border between Judah and Benjamin. Here David repeatedly defeated the invading Philistines (2 Samuel 5:18, 22; 2 Samuel 23:13 1 Chronicles 11:15; 1 Chronicles 14:9). It is located by Josephus between Jerusalem and Bethlehem (Ant., VII, iv, i; xii, 4). It GIANTS IN THE BIBLE: PROF.M.M.NINAN 54 corresponds to the modern el-Biqa`, which falls away to the Southwest from the lip of the valley of Hinnom. It was a broad and fertile valley, Isaiah 17:5, beginning near the valley of Hinnom, and extending several miles south-west from Jerusalem, when it contracted to a narrow passage leading off towards the Mediterranean. When the Israelites first approached the Promised Land after the Exodus from Egypt, they were afraid to enter the land because it was filled with “giants” , the sons of Anak. Giants were also widely scattered through Canaan, but were known by different local names, including Rephaim, Zuzim, Emim, and Anakim. Deuteronomy 2:20–21 says the Rephaim were strong and tall, like the Anakites.

We know nothing of their origin. They are referred to in the following verses. Deuteronomy 3:13 and the rest of Gilead, and all Bashan, the kingdom of Og, gave I to the half-tribe of Manasseh; all the region of Argob, even all Bashan. (The same is called the land of Rephaim. Joshua 12:4 and the border of Og king of Bashan, of the remnant of the Rephaim, who lived at Ashtaroth and at Edrei, Joshua 13:12 all the kingdom of Og in Bashan, who reigned in Ashtaroth and in Edrei (the same was left of the remnant of the Rephaim); for Moses attacked these, and drove them out. Joshua 15:8 The border went up by the valley of the son of Hinnom to the side of the Jebusite southward (the same is Jerusalem); and the border went up to the top of the mountain that lies before the valley of Hinnom westward, which is at the farthest part of the valley of Rephaim northward. Joshua 17:15 Joshua said to them, "If you are a great people, go up to the forest, and clear land for yourself there in the land of the Perizzites and of the Rephaim; since the hill country of Ephraim is too narrow for you." Psalms 88:10 To the dead dost Thou do wonders? Do Rephaim rise? do they thank Thee? Selah. Proverbs 2:18 For her house hath inclined unto death, And unto Rephaim her paths. Proverbs 9:18 And he hath not known that Rephaim 'are' there, In deep places of Sheol her invited ones!

According to Genesis 14:5, King Chedorlaomer and his allies attacked and defeated the Rephaites at Ashteroth-Karnaim. In the biblical narrative, the Israelites were instructed to exterminate the previous inhabitants of the "promised land", i.e. Canaan, which include various named peoples, including some unusually tall/large individuals. Several passages in the Book of Joshua, GIANTS IN THE BIBLE: PROF.M.M.NINAN 56 and also Deuteronomy 3:11, suggest that Og, the King of Bashan, was one of the last survivors of the Rephaim, and that his bed was 9 cubits long in ordinary cubits. (An ordinary cubit is the length of a man's forearm according to the New American Standard Bible, or approximately 18 inches, which differs from a royal cubit. He experienced another growth spurt after that which took him to his final height of 8 feet 3 inches. He is considered to be the tallest soldier in history as he was in the Finnish army. He died in 1963.

Edouard Beaupré 8’3″ Edouard Beaupré, born in 1881, was a circus sideshow freak, a strong man, and a star in Barnum and Baileys. He was the eldest of 20 children and was born in Canada. While he was of normal height during his first few years of life, by the age of nine he was 6 feet tall. His death certificate showed him as being 8’3″ and still growing. Ella Ewing 8’4″ Ella Ewing was born in Missouri in 1872. She is known as the ‘Missouri Giant’. She grew normally until the age of 7, at which time she began to grow rapidly. Her maximum height is disputed and due to the lack of records she is not listed in the Guinness book of Records. She toured as a side-show freak until she died of tuberculosis in 1913.

Al Tomaini 8’4.5″ Al Tomaini was a giant who claimed a height of 8’4″ (though the Guiness Book of Records stated that he was 7’4″). John F Carroll 8’7″ John Carroll (born in 1932) was born in Buffalo, New York and was known as the Buffalo giant. Despite a large number of medical treatments, he grew at a very rapid rate. He grew seven inches in a matter of a few months. He died in 1969 and while his height was not recorded at the time, it is believed that he was very close to nine feet.

John Rogan 8’9″ John Rogan was born in 1868 and he grew normally until the age of 13. His height was not officially recorded until his death at which point he was 8’9″ tall. Johan Aason 8′ 9-1/4″ Johan was born in America the year that his mother moved there from Norway. He beats John Rogan to the second spot on this list by a mere 1/4 of an inch. Interestingly his mother was also a giant, at 7’2″. According to his death certificate from Mendocino State Hospital, at the time of death he was 9’2″ – if this is true then he is the tallest recorded human – beating our number 1 spot by 3 inches. He is buried in Montana.

Robert Wadlow 8′ 11.1″ Robert Wadlow is the tallest man in history whose height is verified by indisputable GIANTS IN THE BIBLE: PROF.M.M.NINAN 80 evidence. He is often referred to as the Alton giant because he came from Alton, Illinois. At the time of his death he weighed 440 pounds and showed no signs of stopping growing. He was born in 1918, the oldest of five children. He died at the age of 22 from an infection caused by a blister on his ankle, which he got while making a professional appearance at the National Forest Festival. CHAPTER TWELVE: EVIDENCE FROM THE STRUCTURES

A: The Pyramids of Egypt

The Great Pyramid of Giza consists of circa 2.3 million stone blocks weighing around 2.5 tons each. Some of the blocks weigh up to 50 tons. Yet despite the vast amount of blocks used, and the incredible weights involved, the mathematical accuracy of the layout of the building is breathtaking. Other such puzzling buildings scattered around the world pose the same questions. GIANTS IN THE BIBLE: PROF.M.M.NINAN 84

Who built them? How did they acquire such mathematical and astronomical knowledge? And what advanced technology did they use in the construction? The people living at that time, though an incredibly advanced and sophisticated people did not have the technology to shape hard stone with such accuracy. For if man began at the stone age, progressed to the bronze and then to the iron age, then we have the oldest pyramids popping up somewhere between the stone age and the bronze age. This is akin to saying that at some point in time past, man invented the wheel. Sometime later, another made a cart. But in between the wheel and the cart we find a brand new Mercedes! This is a realistic comparison when considering the construction of the pyramids.

Manly P. Hall (probably recorded in the 1980s) and giantologist Kristan T. Harris put it out on a Youtube video. It was originally part of a lecture titled Atlantis and the Gods of Antiquity . “We are told that in the year 820AD …way back in the days of the glory of Baghdad, the great sultan, the follower and descendant of the great El-Rashid of Arabian Nights, the Sultan El-Rashid Al-Ma’mun, decided to open the Great Pyramid. B:Stonehenge

The archaeologists used a variety of techniques, including radiocarbon dating on workers' campfires from millennia ago, to discover that holes cut into rocky outcrops to gather the stones were made centuries before Stonehenge was built. Stonehenge 'was built in Wales and dragged to Wiltshire later' The holes were dated to between 3,400 and 3,200 BC, but Stonehenge was only created in Wiltshire around 2,900BC. At the time of Stonehenge's creation, the wheel had not even been built - modern tests have shown it is possible to move stones of similar size on rolling logs or sleighs, but the most archaeologists can do is make an educated guess. Alternatively, they could have a read Erich von Däniken's seminal book Chariots of the Gods?, which makes the argument that many ancient megastructures such as Stonehenge, the Egyptian pyramids, and the Moai heads of Easter Island were built using know-how passed down from God-like aliens to mankind.
