ACADEMIC AFFAIRS 2012 WEEKLY UPDATE Faculty Publication: Bob Rubenstein Friday, September 21, 2012 Dr. Bob Rubenstein recently published “Problematic Students of NASP-Approved Programs: An Exploratory Study of Graduate Student Views” in Psychology in the Schools. Rubenstein, Graduate Counseling Program Director, and his colleagues explored students’ perspectives concerning problematic peers and their experi- ences with them in school psychology training programs. More... Meet the Faculty: Josh Brunty Josh Brunty, Assistant Professor of Digital Forensics, is a Marshall graduate and new faculty member at MU. Josh attended Marshall for his undergraduate and graduate studies, and he also attended the University of Indianapolis for video image and graduate degree studies. Previous work as a digital forensics laboratory manager and examiner and ten years of experience in the field of digital forensics and investigations have molded his vision for the IST Program. This vision includes providing students with experiences that give them the knowledge, skills, and values to make “a distinctive impact in the law enforce- ment and investigative community.” Josh would also like to increase the pro- gram’s commitment to digital forensics research missions in order to put them at the “bleeding edge” of this new wave of interest. Honors College Luncheon and God is Not One Lecture Dr. Stephen Prothero, Professor of Religion at Boston University, will deliver a public lecture and discussion Friday, September 28, 2012, and will be the keynote speaker at the third annual da Vinci Lecture and Luncheon hosted by the Honors College and the Office of the Provost on Saturday, September 29, 2012. Prothero was described by Newsweek magazine as “a world religions scholar with the soul of a late comic.” He specializes in Asian religious traditions and is a sen- ior fellow at the Smithsonian Institute’s Museum of American History. He is the author of several bestselling books including God is Not One and the critically acclaimed The American Bible: How Our Words Unite, Divide, and Define a Na- tion. Prothero has been featured by Time magazine and has made appearances on Oprah, The Daily Show, The Today Show, and The O’Reilly Factor. He regu- larly contributes to CNN.com’s Belief Blog and is a frequent guest on NPR. The public lecture and discussion, God is Not One: The Eight Rival Religions that Run the World and Why Their Differences Matter, will be held at 7 p.m. in the Memorial Student Center BE5. More... Faculty Resource: Campus Conversation Monday, October 15 - The Office of Academic Affairs will host the semester’s first Campus Conversation from 3:15 p.m.—5:00 p.m. at Drinko Library 402 and Graduate College 134 (So. Charleston). The Heart of Higher Education: A Call to Renewal by Palmer and Zajonc will be used as the basis for discussion and reflection.
