this gender is a million things that we are more than poetry from takatāpui/genderqueer/trans writers from across Aotearoa Edited by essa may ranapiri Cover art by essa may ranapiri Copyright remains with individual authors forever We are more than just a gender. But we can celebrate it here. I hope one day we can celebrate it everywhere in the world. POETRY IN MANY FORMS Hana Pera Aoake Water flows into water I dreamt a dam exploded near a leaky house I was living in. I started to drown, but then suddenly I had gills and was able to swim away. I thought about Wairaka surfing across the north island. A tagged photo of you gave me heart palpitations. Lungs flooding. My astrology app tells me to “Keep your eyes open, your heart open, and your mind open today.” I think about different parts of your body that probably feel like silk. Your hair folicles stand up like I rubbed a balloon on your head. I dream of my fingernails lightly circling around your belly button. Scorpion talons. Eight year crush I swirl my fork through a runny egg. When I was a child my imagination ran wild. As an adult I prefer to meet people on the internet rather than in real life. Press my body into yours. Maui running wild, sliding down our breasts. In and out of discombobulated sleep, shy hellos and photo replies. Images of your body via Instagram stories. I imagine you smoking a cigarette and flicking it into his eyes. Maui turns into a worm.

Daddy's doing a deposition. Joshie, come back. Kate Shaw: I'm sorry. That has to be in the teaser to the show. (silence) Melissa Murray: Welcome back to Strict Scrutiny, your podcast about the Supreme Court and the legal culture that surrounds it. With the court no longer having regular arguments and instead racing frenetically to the end of the term with opinion releases, which usually happen on Mondays and Thursdays, we are back to last summer's slightly less regular episode release schedule. So we will still have episodes on a weekly basis from now until the end of the term, but these episodes might come at irregular bursts. So Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, whatever, depending on what opinions we get and when we get them. But don't worry. We are still your hosts. I'm Melissa Murray. Leah Litman: I'm Leah Litman. Kate Shaw: And I'm Kate Shaw. So today we're going to start off with some news from the orders list, including a stay order that speaks to the implications of a decision from last term. We'll then recap the courts recent opinions, and we'll end with another court culture segment dominated by our fellow Cassandra, Stephen Breyer. Okay, first, the orders list. Leah, you want to start us off? Leah Litman: Yes. So we got a stay order in Bosse versus Oklahoma that might portend some shifts in the court's approach to the law governing Native American affairs, and specifically about the potential fall-out from McGirt versus Oklahoma.
