CONGRATULATIONS TO LEWIS HOOK (YEAR 10)

Lewis has recently travelled to Finland to represent Great Britain in an Ice Hockey Skills Challenge to find the best Under 16 players to take part in the first ever Youth Winter Olympics.

Lewis worked extremely hard to finish 9th and qualify to take part in the new skill based Olympic event. This is a truly fantastic achievement and great reward for all the hard work Lewis puts into his sport.

In January 2012, Lewis will travel to Innsbruck, Austria to participate in the games. We wish him good luck and every success and look forward to hearing how he does.

If you think your life is busy, over the past couple of weeks Dan has also been doing open water training at Tallington Lakes on a Wednesday night. In addition to his swimming, Dan also finds time to take part in rowing and in November 2010 was part of a J13 quad that won a Gold Medal at the British Indoor Rowing Championships in Birmingham.

As you can see Dan is working immensely hard to be the best he can be. His sporting role model is Olympic Champion, Michael Phelps and Dan himself would like to achieve a standard where he can represent his Country in major championships. We wish him well and good luck.

Mr Game Under 15 Cricket Now that the Cricket season has finished, it might be nice to reflect on one of the Jack Hunt team’s in particular who had many excellent games in a range of competitions.

Early in the Schools Competition they had some convincing wins against opposition such as where they were 159 for 4 and Stanground only managed 115 for 4. Unfortunately this winning streak did not last and they were defeated by Orton Longueville. At the end of the competition the Under 15s finished 3rd in the table with both Orton Longueville and Stanground finishing above.

The team was entered for the first time into the Huntingdonshire ESCA 20/20 Competition where they were drawn in the first match against Thomas Deacon . After an excellent performance, Jack Hunt won by 7 wickets. The win propelled them through to the semi finals of the Huntingdonshire draw against Stanground where we beat them by 55 runs, again another good win.

A bye in the Huntingdonshire final allowed them to travel to Ipswich for the quarter finals of the regional competition against Ipswich School. The boys really did themselves proud! They opened the game bowling and took 4 wickets in the first 30 minutes of the game. Unfortunately the team did not maintain this level of performance and the Ipswich side gradually improved their play and became more confident. After a nervous batting performance Jack Hunt lost the game. I would like to congratulate all who played on the team, don’t worry there is always next year. Well done boys! Mr McAuley 2
