ST. MARY PARISH WORSHIPPING SINCE 1911

MUSIC AND LENT THIS WEEK AT The most notable change in the mass during Lent is the omission of the Glory to God and ST. MARY PARISH the Alleluia. Both of these prayers are of a joyful nature. While we praise God at all times, during Lent we withhold a bit of our joy so that we can focus on the penitential and 2/18 – SUNDAY baptismal nature of Lent. This is a time to "lay low" as we examine our relationship to the Lord and one another. No – LWC Chant is a form of music that emphases words and melody more so than intricate harmony. 2/19 – MONDAY This simplicity can help us enter into reflection. The Kyrie Eleison, translated from Greek meaning Lord, Have Mercy, will be sung. The cantor will entone a phrase and we all All Parish Offices Closed respond with the same melody. The Agnus Dei (Lamb of God) will be sung to the melody 10:00 AM – Prayer Ministry found at number 850 in Breaking Bread. – Parish Life Room The other Eucharistic acclamations are found at numbers 885,887 and 889. 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM – Exposition of the Most Blessed Sacrament SOUP SUPPERS AND STATIONS OF THE CROSS No – Deepening the Journey Join us for a light meal of soup, bread and water followed by recitation of the Stations of the Cross.
