57 TWEED SHIRE COUNCIL

Tweed Shire covers 1303 square kilometres and adjoins Byron, Lismore and Kyogle, with the New South Wales/Queensland border to its north where it divides the twin towns of Tweed Heads and Coolangatta. With 37klms of natural coastline, wetlands and forests, lush pastoral and farm land, the entire basin of the Tweed River and mountainous regions contain three world heritage listed national parks. Tweed boasts a unique and diverse environment.

Tweed Shire also encompasses rural areas, growing residential and rural- residential areas and some commercial and industrial land use. The urban areas are concentrated in the north-east corner (Tweed Heads), with an inland urban centre at Murwillumbah, and several smaller townships and villages. Rural land is used largely for agriculture, particularly sugar cane growing, beef and dairy farming and crop farming, with some forestry and tourism.

SOLO RESOURCES

Solo was established in July 1990. Solo and its manufacturing arm Rico Recovery Systems Aust. Pty Limited (formerly Jayrich Engineering) are still based at Chinderah, Northern New South Wales on Joe Richards’ original workshop and depot site.

Councils utilising the systems and technology of SOLO Resource Recovery benefit from the most effective and efficient waste management solutions available in Australia.

Solo Resource Recovery, unlike the multi-national or overseas competitors, is not remote from the public to which it is committed. All directors and managers are available at any time for all enquiries.
