MATTERS RAISED WITH PERMISSION 1. On the 28th November, 2005:— (i) Shri Jaswant Singh, Leader of the Opposition raised a matter regarding need to share the information/docments procured by Shri Viren Dayal from the United Nations in connection with the enquiry instituted by the Government on the findings of the Volcker Committee Report. Shri Suresh Pachouri, Minister of State in the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions and Minister of State in the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs responded. (ii) Shri P.G. Narayanan raised a matter regarding damage to standing crops and loss of human lives due to torrential rains and floods in Tamil Nadu and need to send a Central Team to assess the damage.

Shri V. Narayanasamy also spoke.

2. On the 30th November, 2005:—

(i) Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi raised a matter regarding brutal murder of an MLA along with his security guards in Uttar Pradesh on the 29th November, 2005. Shri Shivraj Vishwanath Patil, Minister of Home Affairs, responded. (ii) Shri Jairam Ramesh raised a matter regarding brutal killing of an officer of the Indian Oil Corporation in Lucknow. Shri Shivraj Vishwanath Patil, Minister of Home Affairs, responded. (iii)Shri Vayalar Ravi raised a matter regarding reported missing of a cargo ship named Jupiter-6.

3. On the 1st December, 2005:—

(i) Shri S.S. Ahluwalia raised a matter regarding need for timely payment of compensation and waiving of loan taken by the father of the children who have been orphaned in the serial bomb blast which took place in Delhi on the 29th October, 2005. Shri Suresh Pachouri, Minister of State in the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions and Minister of State in the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, responded. (ii) Shri Uday Pratap Singh raised a matter regarding reported cancellation of invitation to Shri Amitabh Bachchan as Chief Guest of the International Film Festival of being held at Goa. (iii)Shrimati N.P. Durga raised a matter regarding need to take effective measures to control the spread of AIDS. 4. On the 2nd December, 2005, Shri Jairam Ramesh raised a matter regarding 21st anniversary of the Bhopal Gas tragedy.

5. On the 7th December, 2005:— (i) Shri Jaswant Singh, Leader of the Opposition, raised a matter regarding reported resignation of a Minister from the Union Council of Ministers. Shri Pranab Mukherjee, Minister of Defence, responded. (ii) Shri N.K. Premachandran raised a matter regarding reported punishment of scooping out the eye of an Indian National working in Saudi Arabia. Some other Members also spoke. Shri E. Ahammed, Minister of State in the Ministry of External Affairs, responded. 6. On the 8th December, 2005, Shri Dipankar Mukherjee raised a matter regarding reduction in the interest rate on the Employees Provident Fund deposits. Some other Members also spoke. Shri Suresh Pachouri, Minister of State in the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions and Minister of State in the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, responded.

7. On the 9th December, 2005:—

(i) Shri Jaswant Singh, Leader of the Opposition, raised a matter regarding need for constitution of a Joint Parliamentary Committee to look into the matters arising out of the Volcker Committee Report. Some other Members also spoke. Shri Suresh Pachouri, Minister of State in the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions and Minister of State in the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, responded. (ii) Shrimati Mohsina Kidwai raised a matter regarding drowning of some school students on a compulsory tour to Goa.

(iii)Shri Ravula Chandra Sekar Reddy raised a matter regarding alleged infringement on the rights of Press by certain officers of the Government of Andhra Pradesh.

(iv)Shri Kalraj Mishra raised a matter regarding need for stringent action against illegal factories running in the residential colonies of Delhi. 8. On the 12th December, 2005, Shrimati Brinda Karat raised a matter regarding incident of rape and torture of a tribal woman at Negari village of on the 7th December, 2005. Some other Members also spoke. Shri Shivraj Vishwanath Patil, Minister of Home Affairs, responded. 9. On the 13th December, 2005, Shri Abu Asim Azmi raised a matter regarding police misbehaviour with him in Mumbai. Shri Shivraj Vishwanath Patil, Minister of Home Affairs, responded. 10.On the 14th December, 2005, Shri Jairam Ramesh raised a matter regarding need to have a detailed statement and discussion on issues arising out of the United Nations’ Climate Change Conference held recently in Montreal. 9. On the 20th December, 2005:— (i) Shri Dipankar Mukherjee raised a matter regarding concealment of fact in an answer given to Unstarred Question pertaining to the transfer of assets of the Nagpur Airport to the State Government of Maharashtra. Shri Praful Patel, Minister of State of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, responded. (ii) Shri B.J. Panda raised a matter regarding uncertainty prevailing over setting up of the National Institute of Science at Bhubaneswar. Some other Members also spoke. Shri Suresh Pachouri, Minister of State in the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions and Minister of State in the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, responded. (iii)Shri Ravula Chandra Sekar Reddy raised a matter regarding appalling condition of farmers of Anantapur district in Andhra Pradesh. (iv)Shri Anand Sharma raised a matter regarding open Press Conference by CPI (Maoist) in a village on Indo-Nepal border on the 14th December, 2005 and its links with LTTE and Maoists of Nepal. Shri S.S. Ahluwalia also spoke. (v) Shri V. Narayanasamy raised a matter regarding death of 42 persons in a stampede at MGR Nagar, Chennai on the 18th December, 2005.

10.On the 21st December, 2005, Shrimati Sushma Swaraj raised a matter regarding reported misbehaviour by police with couples in a park in Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh. Some other Members also spoke. Shri Shivraj Vishwanath Patil, Minister of Home Affairs, responded. 11.On the 22nd December, 2005:— (i) Dr. M.S. Gill raised a matter regarding problems being faced by farmers in the border districts of Punjab, namely Amritsar, Gurdaspur and Ferozpur. (ii) Shri Yashwant Sinha raised a matter regarding the Indo-U.S. nuclear deal. Shri Arjun Singh, Minister of Human Resource Development, responded. (iii)Shrimati N.P. Durga raised a matter regarding death of lacs of sheep and goats due to spread of “Blue Tongue” and other diseases in the State of Andhra Pradesh. 12.On the 23rd December, 2005, (i) Shri Kripal Parmar raised a matter regarding a book published in the United Kingdom entitled “Some Hidden Facts: Martyrdom of Shaheed Bhagat Singh”.

(ii) Shri Ajay Maroo raised a matter regarding reported incident of loot and rape in the Lucknow bound Pushpak Express on the 21st December, 2005.
