Subject: Galaxy 14 to 30 Satellite Transition, Wed. Feb 3, 2021

Hello Movie Channel / Cine Sony Affiliate,

I am writing to ensure that you are aware that Galaxy 14, the satellite carrying Sony Movie Channel and Cine Sony on Transponder 10, after over fifteen years of reliable service, is nearing end of life and will be replaced on Wednesday, February 3rd per Encompass, our playout facility. Intelsat has already successfully launched Galaxy 30 on August 15, 2020 and this spacecraft will replace Galaxy 14 at the same 125o W orbital position. The transition to G30 will occur approximately at 08:00GMT / 03:00 EST / 00:00 PST for 10C, Wednesday, February 3, 2021. The signal is expected to be out for around 30 seconds during the transition.”

The actual transfer of service from Galaxy 14 to Galaxy 30 will be accomplished with a routine pass-in-the- night (PIN) technique that makes service transfers seamless, does not require any action from affiliates and will be managed by Intelsat and Encompass engineers who will be on a live voice bridge during the transition.

For the backup plan, if needed, Intelsat would make the decision to restore service back to the G14 spacecraft. All spacecraft go through a very intense ‘In Orbit Testing’ period after launch and before being placed into service which helps to maintain a successful transition and high comfort factor.

Please let me know if you have any questions regarding the upcoming G14 transition to G30 this Wed. Feb 3, 2021 at 08:00GMT.
