2021 Charles River Cleanup on the Esplanade Saturday, April 24, 2021 10am to 12pm Join us for this year’s Charles River Cleanup on the Esplanade! Promote a sense of camaraderie and teamwork The Charles River Cleanup is annually the biggest amongst your employees while simultaneously volunteer cleanup event for the Esplanade promoting park stewardship and giving back to the Association, usually bringing between 400 local community through this year’s Charles River and 600 volunteers. Due to current volunteer Esplanade Cleanup! The 2021 Charles River Cleanup restrictions and guidelines set by both the CDC and on the Esplanade will take place on Saturday, April Massachusetts Department of Conservation and 24 from 10am to 12pm. O’Donovan, Division Director OFFICIAL LIST OF PUBLIC WATERS Published Pursuant to RSA 271:20 II (effective June 26, 1990) IMPORTANT NOTE: Do not use this list for determining water bodies that are subject to the Comprehensive Shoreland Protection Act (CSPA). The CSPA list is available on the NHDES website. Public waters in New Hampshire are prescribed by common law as great ponds (natural waterbodies of 10 acres or more in size), public rivers and streams, and tidal waters. These common law public waters are held by the State in trust for the people of New Hampshire. The State holds the land underlying great ponds and tidal waters (including tidal rivers) in trust for the people of New Hampshire. Generally, but with some exceptions, private property owners hold title to the land underlying freshwater rivers and streams, and the State has an easement over this land for public purposes. Several New Hampshire statutes further define public waters as including artificial impoundments 10 acres or more in size, solely for the purpose of applying specific statutes. Most artificial impoundments were created by the construction of a dam, but some were created by actions such as dredging or as a result of urbanization (usually due to the effect of road crossings obstructing flow and increased runoff from the surrounding area). -

South Station Expansion Project
On page 2 of the WWTR, the Proponent reports in the Boston Water & Sewer Commission's (BWSC) assessment that there is adequate capacity in its sewer mains to collect and convey the Project's new wastewater flows, which could increase wastewater fl ow contribution from the site by as much as 453,150 gallons per day (gpd) at the South Station site, an increase of 122% from existing conditions, according to the WWTR. This may be true for 5.1 dry weather flow conditions, but downstream BWSC and MWRA sewer systems serving South Station and the other project areas can surcharge and overflow during large storms, due to large volumes of stormwater entering combined sewer systems. Any increase in sanitary flow, if not offset with infiltration/inflow ("III") or stormwater removal from hydraulically related sewer systems can be expected to worsen system surcharging and overflows. The WWTR separately describes local and state regulations requiring I/I removal at a ratio of 4 gallons III removed for every new gallon of sanitary flow to ensure the mitigation of these potential impacts. The Proponent commits to 4: 1 I/I removal to offset new wastewater flows generated at the South Station site. I/I removal from hydraulically related systems may occur remote from the project site. It is imperative that the Proponent evaluate how the local sewers to which the project's flows will be connected will perform with the large added flows from the project and the III reduction that may occur far afield. Connections to the BWSC sewer 5.2 pipes should be carefully selected to ensure that any local sewer surcharging is not worsened by the new flows in a way that causes greater CSO discharges at nearby CSO regulators and outfalls,.notwithstanding the removal of extraneous flows elsewhere. -

Loudon (Fabaceae) is a tall, herbaceous, perennial legume that is regionally rare in New England. Found most often in dry, open, rocky woods over circumneutral to calcareous bedrock, it has been documented from 28 historic and eight current sites in the three states (Vermont, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts) where it is tracked by the Natural Heritage programs. The taxon has not been documented from Maine. In Connecticut and Rhode Island, the species is reported but not tracked by the Heritage programs. Two current sites in Connecticut are known from herbarium specimens. No current sites are known from Rhode Island. Although secure throughout most of its range in eastern and midwestern North America, D. cuspidatum is Endangered in Vermont, considered Historic in New Hampshire, and watch-listed in Massachusetts. It is ranked G5 globally. Very little is understood about the basic biology of this species. From work on congeners, it can be inferred that there are likely to be no problems with pollination, seed set, or germination. As for most legumes, rhizobial bacteria form nitrogen-fixing nodules on the roots of D. cuspidatum. It is unclear whether there have been any changes in the numbers or distribution of rhizobia capable of forming effective mutualisms with D.
