The sires’ list shows that 21 of the current top 25 sires in Britain and are represented, including Acclamation (18 lots), (30), Camelot (9), (25), Exceed And Excel (10), (3), (6), (7), Kodiac (40), (18), (14), (23), (12), (8), (12) and Showcasing (31). The current leading first season sire Mehmas, who already has four individual black-type winners to his name, has ten yearlings catalogued and there are 18 first crop sires represented, including Classic/Gr.1 winners Aclaim (13), Caravaggio (16), Churchill (21), Decorated Knight (4), Galileo Gold (6), (12), Mondialiste (1), National Defense (1), (15), Profitable (24), (21) and (15). Overseas-based sires add an extra dimension to the sale and leading French-based stallions Dabirsim, , Shalaa and Siyouni and have 31 yearlings catalogued between them, with an additional seven by first-crop sire Almanzor. The 2019 sale was topped by a sale record 1,050,000gns Dark Angel filly from Ballyhimikin Stud, who was bought by Shadwell Estate Company, while a further 17 Book 2 yearlings realised at least 250,000gns. The sale achieved record turnover of The Queen of Racing 48,399,00gns, a clearance rate of 85 per cent and small rises in the average and median to 78,224gns and 55,500gns respectively.
