Ten different Colorado skaters have at least 20 points (most in NHL) and six have 10+ goals (tied for first). Colorado has tallied at least once in 31 of its last 35 periods, which included a franchise-record streak of 20 consecutive periods with a goal from March 12-23. AND NOW ON TO APRIL After finishing their busiest (and best) month in franchise history, the Avs last night opened their busiest April ever, 16 games.

50 WAYS TO LEAVE YOUR LOVER The Avalanche tied their franchise record for the fewest number of games to reach 50 points in a season (35). The 2000-01 Avs and 1994-95 Nordiques also reached the 50-point mark in their 35th contest.

FIRST OF ALL The Avs have scored the first goal of the game 26 times, the most of any team. Colorado is 21-3-2 when scoring first, the most wins in the NHL.

JOONAS DON-SCORE Joonas Donskoi on Wednesday recorded the fastest hat trick to start a game in franchise history, lighting the lamp three times in the opening 7:31 of the first period. Donskoi's three goals came 3:27 apart, marking the second-fastest hat trick in franchise history. Alain Cote scored three times in 2:17 on April 1, 1982 at Boston. It was the second career hat trick for Donskoi and he became the first Colorado player to score three goals in a period since Tomas Fleischmann on Dec. 15, 2010 at Chicago (3rd).

FIRST STAR Philipp Grubauer was named the Honda West Division First Star of the Month for March. He tied the NHL record for wins in a month with 12, compiling a 12-2-1 record, 1.56 GAA, .933 Sv% and three shutouts in 15 appearances.

WINS, MONTH, NHL HISTORY 12 Philipp Grubauer March 2021 12 Sergei Bobrovsky Dec. 2016 12 Jimmy Howard March 2010 12 Ray Emery March 2006 12 Bernie Parent March 1974

FEELING GRU-BI Grubauer leads the NHL in wins (22-tied) and shutouts (5) and among netminders who have appeared in at least 10 games ranks first in GAA (1.78) and third in Sv% (.928). He is tied for first in games (30) and second in starts (29). Grubi's 22 wins and five shutouts are both career bests. He is 10-0-1 in his last 11 games, the longest streak without a regulation loss by an Avs netminder since 2013-14 (Semyon Varlamov, 11-0-5). With a point tonight, Grubi would equal the franchise mark for consecutive games (12) with a point shared by Patrick Roy in 1996-97 and Peter Budaj in 2006-07.

He picked up his 20th victory of the year on March 25, becoming the fastest goaltender in franchise history to reach 20 wins in a season (27th game). Grubauer had a career-high, eight-game winning streak from March 10-25, allowing one or fewer goals in all eight appearances (seven starts). He became the first NHL goaltender to go eight-plus decisions without allowing more than one goal since John Vanbiesbrouck in 1991-92 (eight). Grubi recorded his 100th NHL victory on March 29, joining Thomas Greiss (139) and Olie Kolzig (303) as the only Germans to hit the century mark.

HIT ME WITH YOUR BEST SHOT Colorado ranks first in the NHL in shots-per-game (35.4) and shots-against-per-game (25.2). The last NHL team to lead the league in both was the 2009-10 Blackhawks. The Avs pace the NHL in shot differential (+369), far ahead of the next closest team (Boston +181). They are out-shooting the opposition by an average of 10.25 shots per night. Colorado has out-shot the opposition in 29 of its 36 contests this season (most in NHL). The Avs own a 21-6-2 record when holding an edge in shots, the most wins of any club. They have out-shot their foes 521-316 (+205) during this 13-game point streak and 556-330 (+225) over the last 14 contests.

MARCH MADNESS Mikko Rantanen led the league in points (25) and goals (13) in March, the second highest monthly totals in Avs history.

THAT'S A PLUS Devon Toews was league-best +20 in March, the best monthly plus/minus by a defenseman in franchise history and the second highest overall (+24, Michel Goulet, Jan. 1984). Toews was the first NHL player to finish a month +20 since Brent Sopel (+21) in Jan. 2002 with Vancouver.

TOP OF THE LINE Landeskog–MacKinnon–Rantanen have combined for 47 points (18g/29a) and a +24 rating in the last nine contests and 57 points (23g/34a) and a +33 rating in the last 12. The trio combined for 69 points (28g/41a) in March: Rantanen (25), Landeskog (24), MacKinnon (20). The Rangers also had three 20-point scorers last month. Before this March, the last month to feature three teammates with 20+ points was Jan. 2010: Vancouver's Henrik Sedin (25), Daniel Sedin (22) and Alex Burrows (22).

SOMETHING SPECIAL The Avs PK unit ranks second (86.7%) and the power play is tied for eighth (24.1). The PK has allowed just five goals during this 13-game point streak (39/44, 88.6%), while the PP unit has gone 11-36 (30.6%) in the last 10. Colorado is 17-4-2 when allowing zero PPG and 16-5-2 when scoring a PPG.

ALL HAIL CALE Cale Makar leads all defensemen in points/game (0.96) and his 0.90 career average is the sixth-highest ever by a blueliner behind Bobby Orr (1.39), Harry Cameron (1.10), Paul Coffey (1.09), Denis Potvin (0.99) and Ray Bourque (0.98). Cale surpassed the 70-point career mark on Monday, becoming the seventh-fastest blueliner (79 GP) to do so behind Mark Howe (61), Cameron (66), Brian Leetch (69), Larry Murphy (73), Sprague Cleghorn (75) and Phil Housley (78). He required the fewest games (79) by a defenseman in NHL history to record five career outings with three or more assists.

AVS & BLUES The Avs and Blues are meeting for the first time since the opening two games of the season.
