College, Department of Geography Nadia, West Bengal, India. Pin-741101 http://www.krishnagargovtcollege.org/ [email protected] Abstract: Tourism is now one of the largest industries in the world that has developed alongside the fascinating concept of eco-tourism. The concept of tourism could be traced back to ancient times when people travelled with a view to acquiring knowledge of unknown lands and people, for the development of trade and commerce, for religious preaching and also for the sheer adventure of discovery. In fact the system of tourism involves a combination of travel, destination and marketing, which lead to a process of its cultural dimension. Gangtok as a core centre of Sikkim has potential command area over different tourist spots in East Sikkim, which are directly linked by a network of roads centering Gangtok and are perfectly accessible for one-day trips. The tourist attractions of East Sikkim are clustered mostly in and around Gangtok, the state capital. This study shows the tourism infrastructure as well as seasonal arrival of tourists in the Gangtok city and to develop the probabilistic travel model on the basis of tourist perception which will help the tourism department for the further economic development of the area. KeyWords: Eco-tourism, command area, tourist attractions, probabilistic travel model 1. • Disaster Management Plan – 2020-21
Chairman, District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Cum, Deputy Commissioner, Chikkamagaluru - 577 101 District Disaster Management Authority, Chikkamagaluru District, Karnataka Chikkamagaluru District, Karnataka 08262-230401 (O), 231499 (ADC), 231222 (Fax) [email protected], deo@[email protected], [email protected] F O R E W O R D The bounty of nature with land, water, hills and so on are the beautiful creation of God which the so-called modern human beings cannot create or replicate despite advances in science and technology. The whole responsibility lies on us to maintain God's creation in its pristine state without disturbing or intervening in the ecological balance. It is observed that the more we rise in science and technology, the less we care about protecting and maintaining our environment. Indiscriminate, improper and injudicious use of environment will result in mother nature deviating from its original path and cause hazard to human life and property in the form of disasters. Chikkamagaluru district is one of the hazard prone district in Karnataka on account of landslides, drought, floods etc. The whole of the district has faced unprecedented rains in August 2019 and 2020 which has resulted in loss of human lives and destruction of property which has taught a lesson of prudence and sustainable growth to human beings. This District Disaster Management Plan devises a strategy for reducing the hazards and dangers of all kinds of disasters and accidents. It is a dedicated effort by the DDMA, Chikkamagaluru to prepare a comprehensive District Disaster Management Plan under the leadership of the District Administration. It contains the District Profile, an assessment of vulnerability and a list of possible disasters, risk assessment, the institutional and infrastructural mechanism for facing such disasters, the preparedness of the district to overcome the disasters, an effective communication plan containing the contact numbers of Officers and the standard operating procedures for effectively dealing with the disasters which are likely to occur.

Sustainability Issues at Tourism Destinations in Kashmir Valley PJAEE, 17 (9) (2020) Sustainability Issues at Tourism Destinations in Kashmir Valley 1 Gowhar Ahmad Wani 1 Ph.D. Research Scholar, School of Economics, Department of Economics Central University of Kerala Gowhar Ahmad Wani: Sustainability Issues at Tourism Destinations in Kashmir Valley-- Palarch’s Journal Of Archaeology Of Egypt/Egyptology 17(9). ISSN 1567-214x Keywords: Behavior, Social Society, Surfing Sports ABSTRACT This paper examined sustainability isssues happening at tourism destinations in Kashmir Valley. Conclusions are drawn and remedies provided on the basis of concerned issues. Practices, models and strategies adopted by Himalayan and Non- Himalayan states are presented and explained their relevance for the rectification and endorsement of sustainable tourism at destinations. In Kashmir Valley most of the products are gifted by nature and demands vital care and supervision. Due to poor management, deficient facilities and services problems like contamination (water and air), solid waste, open dumping of garbage, emissions, chlorofluorocarbons and green house gases, illegal constructions and degradation of forests highly noticeable at renowned places like Srinagar, Pahalgam and Gulmarg. In this context, strong policies, strategic framework, sustainable tourism practices and adequate facilities and services are treated as imperative. 1. Introduction Over the period, progress of tourism industry offered numerous benefits to people living at tourism potential destinations. High tourist influx brought dollars to their accounts and boosted their economies. Nevertheless, lack of consideration and overcrowding negatively exaggerated the tourism resources like water bodies, aquatic resources and critical environment (Neto, 2003). Longstanding existence of destinations need proper supervision and at the same time control of emissions, disposal of wastes, and maintenance of hygiene treated as vital.
