Welcome to MAP Maison

Tucked away in Haggerston, East London, you will find MAP Maison. We take inspiration from all over the world when creating our cocktails, tapas and interior design. We have become a home away from home for many of our regulars.

Cocktails are our pursuit. We love them and we want our guests to experience not only the taste, but also the creativity, skill and passion that goes into making them.

Not only do we love cocktails, we also hold one of London’s largest collections of Japanese whisky. Explore the world of whisky through our masterclasses or Japanese whisky collection tasting sets.

At MAP Maison we have an eclectic tea selection, which has been carefully designed in collaboration with one of the UK’s top tea specialists. Satisfy your taste buds with the Mi Lan Dan Cong, known as the champagne of Oolong tea or the Chocolate Tea boasting a malty blend of vanilla pod and Peruvian cocoa nibs. Whatever your cup of tea, there will something for everyone to enjoy.

Accompanying the tea menu is our tapas styled selection of savouries and sweets. Following a variation of the traditional afternoon tea theme, our savoury choices include; mini baguettes with Iberico and Bellota ham, mini cheeseburgers and tempting vegetarian bites. On the sweet side we offer a range of high end patisseries such as; Coffee chocolate opera cake, selection of choux pastries, pistachio mango cake, almond financier and dessert shots.

Afternoon Tea is served Friday -Sunday between 1-5pm, bookings only.

The Quintessential Guide to Bartending £28

Our guide to bartending does what it says on the tin! This course gives an overview of how to make, serve and style cocktails from behind the bar. This course is the perfect opportunity to learn about cocktail making, explore classic and contemporary recipes and methodology, familiarise yourself with products and equipment and create your own personal repertoire.

Vouchers are only redeemable at MAP Maison in the currency stated on the voucher. Vouchers can be redeemed against any of our afternoon tea packages. If the order exceeds the amount of the voucher, the outstanding balance must be paid with our available payment options. Vouchers are valid 365 days after purchase and any outstanding amount will expire immediately after the stated expiry date and cannot be refunded.

Japanese Whisky Single Double Bottle

Eigashima Distillery Micro distillery Eigashima established in 1888 mainly focus on Sake and Shochu but started distilling their White Oak whisky in 1984. Its barley and malts are imported from Scotland and whisky production only takes place for one month a year. The distillery mainly produces blends but released their first single malt in 2007. The town of Akashi is located in the southern parts of Japan, west of Osaka.

Nikka currently operates two distilleries for their Japanese Whisky production, Yoichi distillery established in 1934 and Miyagikyo distillery in 1969. It was Masataka Taketsuru who founded the company after studying the art of distilling whisky in Scotland. Many consider Masataka to be the father of Japanese Whisky and Nikka is today the country’s second largest distiller.

Kotobukiya was founded in 1899, which later become Suntory, by Shinjiro Torii who opened Japan’s first distillery in 1923, Yamazaki. The Hakushu distillery followed in 1973 marking the 50-year anniversary of Suntory as well as the Chita distillery in 1972.

Chichibu Distillery Established in 2004 and launched in 2008 Japan’s smallest and youngest whisky distillery are doing big things, celebrated for its astonishing whisky. Located an hour west of Tokyo, founder Ichiro Akuto followed in his grandfather’s footsteps in building and operating a distillery. Ichiro’s grandfather’s ‘Hanyu’ distillery ceased production in 2000, with its remaining whisky stock moved to Chichibu and sold under the ‘Ichiro’s Malt’ label whilst new stock is maturing.

Little known Japanese whisky distillery located in the remote location of Tottori, the west coast of Japan. The distillery does not reveal much information, however, their whiskies, all Sherry cask finished, have been much spoken about.

Ocean Karuizawa Distillery The distillery was funded in 1956 and is today viewed as having produced some of the very best Japanese whiskeys ever made. Despite of its popularity the distillery was closed in 2001. Drinks giant Kirin stepped in a few years late and Karuizawa was back up and running in 2011. However, its doors were closed for good in 2016. Stock has now started to dry up as no spirit has been produced since 2001 and there are only a few casks left of Karuizawa, all privately owned.

Togouchi/ Chugoku Jozo Chugoku Jozo has a long tradition of sake & Shochu production but decided to introduce whisky in the 1990’s. Located in the town of Togouchi outside of Hiroshima, they age and blend its whisky which is imported from Scotland & Canada. The whisky comes to age in sherry & brandy barrels stored in an old train tunnel making this an unusual and controversial brand.

Mars Shinshu Distillery

Having produded whisky since 1949 the Mars Shinshu distillery, run by the Hombo family, has a range of smooth, elegant and complex whiskies. Its distillery is at over 2,600 feet, making it Japan’s highest; gives an all year cool temperature which slows down the maturation process. Due to the high demand of their whisky production stopped in 1992. Production didn’t pick up until 2011 with its first new release in 2014.

Kirin / Fuji-Sanroku Kirin built the Fuji Gotemba Distillery in 1973 at the foot of Mount Fuji, south west of Tokyo. The distillery is a result of a large scale international collaboration between Kirin, Seagrams from Canada, Chivas Brothers from Scotland and Four Roses from the U.S. The location was selected for its resemblance to the Scottish climate.

He will take you through the history and important anecdotes of Japanese Whisky making and drinking. It is an interactive session where you can ask questions and discuss the topic. He will then make a Japanese Whisky cocktail and then let you go behind the bar and have a go at it yourself. You can then sample your concoctions together and discuss.

Black Tea

Dan Cong is the champagne of oolong tea: ripe with intense fruit and sweetness. Infusions

Organic Wild Rooibos A rare and deeply flavoursome Rooibos, grown wild in South Africa.

This rare and stunning Rooibos comes from a small, isolated town called Wupperthal in Cedeberg province South Africa. This is the only area in the world where Rooibos grows wild, and in South Africa, over 98% of the Rooibos crop is cultivated on large (white run) plantations. Producing this tea is what sup- ports the local community in Wupperthal - few other crops can be grown on the land due to poor soil and extreme weather conditions. The Wupperthal Original Rooibos Co-op was founded in 1990 to better regulate the industry and market prices. It has had a fantastic effect on the community who are going from strength to strength. The flavour of the wild Rooibos is much richer and maltier than regular Rooibos. It also has beautiful, deep dried fruit flavours.

Red Berry & Hibiscus A beautiful scarlet infusion, caffeine-free and bursting with fruit notes.

This is a stunning infusion of hibiscus blossoms, elderberries, rose-hips and elder- flowers which yield intense soft fruit flavours. The scarlet liquor has a sweet, forest berry aroma and the infusion is perfectly balanced between sweet and tart notes. An ideal iced summer drink, this is also great as a hot infusion at any time of day.

Jekka’s Organic Chamomile Whole chamomile flowerheads produce a soothing, apple-fragrant infusion.

These are the whole flowerheads of the chamomile (Matricaria recutita), bright, ar- omatic and full-flavoured. The herb has been used for thousands of years for medici- nal purposes. Delicious to drink anytime of day but with the benefit of being naturally soothing.
