Tustin High School School Profile 2019-2020 Tustin High School stands as a pillar of tradition and excellence in education in the city of Tustin and in Orange County, and is one of three comprehensive 9-12 high schools in the Tustin Unified School District. Tustin High School is in its ninety-eighth year of service to the Tustin community. Tustin High School is a Top Ranked Public School, a former California Distinguished School and a 2015 California Gold Ribbon School. In 2017, THS successfully completed accreditation by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and was awarded the maximum accreditation term of six years. Educational practices at Tustin High School can be characterized by the following statements:  Curriculum, instruction, and materials are aligned to the Common Core State Standards.  Students are a part of a one-to-one laptop program.  Professional development and in-service training is focused on standards and assessment of student performance.  Specialized programs include 18 AP Courses, Model United Nations, STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics), AVID (demonstration school), comprehensive athletic program, activity program, dance, ASB, clubs, fine arts, and student service programs.  State and local assessments are used to inform teachers and target instruction for those students in need of support.  Services provided for students to meet standards include: instructional aide support, supplementary materials and equipment, bilingual/at -risk parent liaison, and additional specialized tutorials.  Community partners include: THE Foundation, Kiwanis Club, Boys & Girls Clubs of Tustin, Tustin Police Department, THS PTO, Tustin Public Schools Foundation, Assistance League of Tustin, Tustin Area Women’s Club, Rotary Club of Tustin.

At Tustin High School, we are committed to ongoing school improvement. We continually seek help from our entire school community: students, staf f, parents, local business, alumni and community members. This year, Tustin High School partnered with Irvine Valley College to offer two dual enrollment classes for our students. With declining enrollment in Latin classes and the discontinuation of the course in the 2019-20 school year, many students took advantage of Sign Language, one of the IVC dual enrollment classes offered at Tustin High.

Model United Nations is a hallmark program at Tustin High School. Beginning as a campus club with only twenty students, Model United Nations is now embedded in the History Social Science Department as a UC Approved Elective course. Model United Nations students compete at conferences around the world. Tustin High students are frequently awarded gavels, the conferences’ highest award, and outstanding delegation awards.

45% of THS students are enrolled in at least one honors or AP class. We currently offer AP courses, on a weighted 4.0 scale, in: Government & Politics, Biology, Calculus AB, Chemistry, Micro- Economics, English Language and Composition, English Literature and Composition, Environmental Science, Physics 1, Psychology, Spanish Language & Literature, French Language and Culture, Statistics, 2- D Art and Design , 3-D Art and Design, Studio Art, World History, and History. An additional one grade point is added for Honors and Advanced Placement courses.
