Headmasters of KMG family, my beloved colleagues of these institutions and my beloved students, this is the 16th Annual day celebrations of this college. We are going strength by strength every year realizing our founder‟s vision and carrying on his mission. I am proud to present this Annual Report of this college for this academic year 2015 – 2016. Our students by their achievements have made this report lengthy and kindly permit me to blow our trumpet.

We have a strong band of committed faculty. As many as 47 of our teachers have produced 100% Results in the University Examinations in the papers taught by them. We congratulate them and wish that others also join this elite band. SPORTS ACTIVITIES It is indeed a matter of pride to all of us to place on record that as many as 33 of our students have participated and won prizes in All India and South Zone Inter-university level matches, Inter divisional matches and open matches held at various places.

ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES The list of activities of various departments during this academic year is as follows.

DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH  English Literary Association is active in our college. It has conducted various competitions such as Elocution, Debate, Essay Writing, and Poetry Writing for our students as has been the practice every year.

 Our students actively participated in various intercollegiate events and won laurels for our college. They won prizes in various events like calligraphy, Poetry explanation etc and also captured the overall championship, in the intercollegiate competitions held at Islamiah Women‟s Arts & Science College, Vaniyambadi. They won prizes in the competitions held at MMES College, Melvisharam

 An extra ordinary meeting of the English Literary Association was held on 11.09.15. Dr.P.A.Cecilia Vernum, Professor & Head, Dept.of English, Auxilium College for Women, was the Chief guest and she delivered a lecture on “Importance of English language as a means of communication.” The lecture motivated the students to improve their communication and linguistic skills.

DEPARTMENT OF TAMIL

 An extra ordinary meeting of the Tamil Literary Association was held on 11.09.15. Thavathiru, Srilasri Santha swamigal, addressed the students He explained to the students both physical and metaphysical concepts..  Our students K.Roja of III B.A eng and K.S.Dhivya of III BBA participated in the elocution and essay competitions conducted at Mazharul Uloom College and won I & II prizes respectively.  S.Persiya of III B.A., P.Sangeetha of III BA and R.Priya of III B.Sc Maths won prizes at the literary competitions held at Islamiah College for Women.  As usual on behalf of our Tamil Literary Association, various competitions such as Elocution, Essay Writing, and Poetry Writing were conducted for our students. DEPARTMENT OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION  A State level conference on “Make in India“ was held on 8th Sep‟ 2015 in collaboration with the Department of commerce of our college. Dr.K.Maran Director Sairam Institute of Management Studies was the chief guest.  A number of students of Business Administration have participated in various intercollegiate events and won prizes.  G.Balasubramaniyan and Shafeeque Ahmed of this Dept won II Prize in the “All India Management Meet” organized by Galaxy Institute of Management

 A Team of our BBA students participated in the intercollegiate event B-Blaze conducted by M.K.Jain College,Vaniyambadi and won a number of prizes across all the events.  K.Sunil,T.Sarathkumar,K.Aravindh,V.Ramya,Wasim,Muzamil,G. Balasubramaniyan & R.Prasanth are the students who won laurels for the college.

DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE  Commerce department organized a workshop on “Financial Awareness” on 07.9.2015 .The Resource person was Mr.T.K.Sabu of SEBI. Nearly 200 students of the commerce department were benifited by this program.  In the pursuit to make the commerce students Tally literate, every year the department organizes for a Tally training programme in association with Intelliexperts Pvt. Limited, Chennai. The dept conducted Tally certificate course during weekends. More than 100 students were benefited by the program.  An awareness program on Cost & management Accountancy as well as Chartered Accountancy was arranged by the Department on 29th September 2015. Resource persons were from the Vellore Institute of Commerce.  A number of students and staff members of Commerce department have participated and acted as Resource Persons in various intercollegiate events.

DEPARTMENT OF BIO CHEMISTRY

 The Department proudly places on record that the department has bagged two university ranks this year .M.Saranya and G.Sathyasheela of M.Sc Biochemistry have secured the I and IV ranks respectively

 B.Sc Biochemistry students have clinched centum results in the paper “Human Physiology “ and the PG students mimicked this fete in the papers “Molecular Biology and Genetic Engineering “

 In association with the Dept.of Microbiology, the Dept organised a Conference on “Emerging Trends in Biological and Environmental sciences” on 10.9.2015. Students from 10 colleges have participated and competed in the Poster Session. Dr.Rajasekar of Thriuvalluvar University and Mr.G.Joshua Dhivyan of Biocon, Bangalore has given special lectures on advanced research topics.

 A number of students of bio chemistry have participated in various intercollegiate events and won prizes.

 Both UG &PG students have participated in State level seminar at Shanmuga industries Arts & Science College, Tiruvannamalai, Adhi Parasakthi college of Arts & Science, Kalavai as well as Sacred Heart College, Tiruppattur.

DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY

 Our student T.Suvitha has secured University 10th Rank in UG during the academic year 2014-2015.  The Department organized a State level conference on the Topic “Recent Trends in Green Chemistry” on 11th September 2015. Dr.C.Abdul Huque, Former Head, Department of Chemistry, The New College, Chennai was the chief guest and he delivered a special lecture. Students and staff from various colleges participated and gave Poster Presentation.  A number of intra departmental activities like quiz, paper presentation debate and seminars were also conducted.  An Inter-collegiate lecture program was organized on behalf of RUSAC by our Dept, on 30.01.2016. Students were benefited by valuable lectures given by subject experts from various colleges. 100 Students and 10 Staff members from various colleges participated in the program.  PG final year students participated in the intercollegiate Quiz competition organized by the PG & Research Dept. of Chemistry, Auxilium college for Women, Vellore in September 2015.  PG final year students participated in the Inter-collegiate paper presentation, organized by the PG & Research Dept of Chemistry DKM College for women, Vellore on 08.01.2016.

 I M.Sc students attended the state level seminar on “Emerging Trends in Chemistry” organized by the PG & Research Dept of Chemistry Voorhees College, Vellore on Jan 29th 2016.

 II M.Sc and III B.Sc students attended the National Conference on “Recent Trends in Chemical Science” and M.Phil Research scholar presented a poster in the conference organized by the PG & Research Dept. of Chemistry, Muthurangam Govt. Arts College, Vellore on Feb 5th 2016.

 M.Phil., II M.Sc and I M.Sc students attended the National Seminar on “Recent Trends in Chemistry” and S.Janani I M.Sc student won third prize in poster presentation organized by the PG Dept. of Chemistry, Arignar Anna Govt. Arts college for women, on 26th Feb 2016.

 II M.Sc & I M.Sc students attended the one day workshop organized by school of Advanced Sciences, Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore on 29th Feb 2016.

DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER SCIENCE  Inter collegiate IT meet “iBlaze” was organized by the Department of Computer Science this year also on 9th september 2015..As many as 300 students from 30 colleges participated in this fabulous event. A seminar on “Big Data” was conducted as a part of iBlaze. Mr.M.Karthik, Technical Trainer of ICT academy

delivered a special lecture on this topic.Students of various colleges took part in various events.  The staff members and students were allowed to participate in various programs organized by ICT Academy, Chennai. We are proud to be an institutional members in ICT..

 List of out campus achievements by our students is very lengthy. Our BCA and B.Sc., Computer Science students participated in intercollegiate competitions held at Islamiah College for Women, Vaniyambadi, Sacred Hearts‟ College, Tirupattur, Don Bosco College, Yelagiri and Vivekananda College of Arts & Science, Tiruchencode and won Prizes in Techno twist, short films, Paper presentation, web designing and Debugging events.

DEPARTMENT OF MICROBIOLOGY

 In association with the Department of Biochemistry, the Dept organized a Conference on “Emerging Trends in Biological and Environmental sciences” on 10.9.2015, Special lectures on advanced research topics arranged during the conference were very useful to the students. The Dept. has organized for a 3 day industrial visit to Gene Biotech, Kodaikanal

 The Dept. also successfully conducted intra departmental Quiz competition on 06.10.2015 to create awareness and motivation in the field of Microbiology.

DEPARTMENT OF MATHEMATICS  Our student V.Gayathri has secured University 5th Rank in UG during the academic year 2014-15.

 The department has produced the largest number of centum scorers in the University examinations. As many as 27 UG students, 17 PG students have secured centum marks in few papers. Thus the total number of centum scores is 44 which are higher than the last year.

 One day State Level Conference on “Mathematical Analysis and Applications” was organized by PG & Research dept. of Mathematics on 14.09.2015. Dr.R.Sivaraj Assistant Professor, School of Advanced Sciences, VIT University Vellore addressed the gathering. Professors, Research Scholars and Students from various colleges participated and acquired added knowledge.

 Our students won I and II Prizes in intercollegiate Quiz competition and III Prize in „Maths Puzzle” conducted by Marudhar Kesar Jain College for Women, Vaniyambadi on 03.09.2015.

HEALTH CLUB:

 Health Club was active this year also.  Prof. S.Hema Head, Department of Business Administration is the Convenor.  A free “Eye Check-up Camp” was organized in association with Dr.Agarwals Eye Hospital on 29.07.2015 and 31.07.2015. Nearly 1800 students were benefited by this camp.  A special lecture was given on 30.08.2015 by Dr.Nithya ophthalmologist from Dr.Agarwal Eye Hospital. Nearly 600 students were benefited by this program.

NSS ACTIVITIES

 With Prof.Bharathi and Prof.C.Srinivasan as Program officers our NSS team conducted the following activities.  Blood donation camps were conducted thrice this year. Our students donated blood to various hospitals, 67 units to Govt. Hospital, Gudiyattam. 43 units to CMC Hospital, Vellore and 57 units to primary health centre, Vaduganthangal and Govt. Medical College Hospital Adukambarai.  World youth day was celebrated on 10.08.2015. NSS volunteers took oath on that day which was headed by Mr.Mohan and Mr. Umeshkumar officials of Govt. Hospital Gudiyattam.

 To commemorate the birth anniversary of our former president late Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam, our volunteers went on a rally propagating the Golden Words of Dr. A.P.J.  The program officer Prof. C. Srinivasan participated in the workshop on the theme “KO Rfhjhu jkpofk” on 03.11.2015 at Collector office, Vellore.  This year also our college bagged the award for the best voluntary blood camp organizer. The award was given by Dr. Sugumaran, Dean of Govt. Medical college Hospital on 05.11.2015.  Pongal Vizha was celebrated by our volunteers. Competitions like Rangoli, Dance and Cookery were conducted and prizes were given to the winners.  Consumer awareness week was celebrated during the last week of December. Competitions in Poetry, Essays and Drawings were conducted. Our students bagged prizes at the district level.  The NSS units propose to conduct a special camp for 7 days from 12.03.2016 to 18.03.2016.

FINE ARTS CLUB  With Prof.D.Shakila as the convenor and Prof.Muniappan and Prof K.S.Karuna as members Fine Arts Club, conducted a no. of intra college programs for both students as well as the staff.  It trained a wonderful team which bagged a no. of prizes at the intercollegiate level.

QUIZ CLUB

 The convener Prof. D.Manikandan, HOD of Microbiology and the members of the club Prof.C.Nirmalkumar, Asst. Professor of Biochemistry and Prof. M.Muniyappan, Asst. Professor of Mathematics conducted the intra college quiz competition on 09.02.2016. The students of the department of Mathematics won the first prize.  The students from computer Science department and Chemistry department won the II and III prize respectively.

CONSUMER CLUB  The club aims at creating awareness among the students on unfair trade practices, adulterations, misleading advertisement etc.  Prof. C.Arunachalam, Asst. Professor in Business Administration in the Convener.  The students participated in consumer protection Fest 2016 organized by collectorate Vellore and won prices at the district level.

LIBRARY The number of books and number of national and international journals added this year to our existing collection in our library are 172 and 7 respectively. The collection in the library includes Text Books,

Reference Books, Research Reports, Thesis, Encyclopedias, Gazatteers, Year Books, Hand Books Manuals, and Literature Guides.

WOMEN’S WELFARE CLUB

 The convener Tmt.A.V.Nalini, Asst.Professor of Business Administration along with the members Prof.P.Anjugam, Asst.Professor in Computer Science and Prof. C.Kavitha Asst.Professor in Microbiology organized a program on physiotherapy by MIOT hospital. All women staff members and girl students were benefited by this program.

 The club, in association with Inner wheel and Vasvi club vanitha celebrated Women‟s day on 08.03.2016 in our college. Tmt. Amudhasivaprakasam Municipal Chairman, Gudiyattam gave a special address to our students. Our Trust members Smt. Meenakshi Balasubramaniyan, Smt. Usha Sundaravadanam and Smt.Thilagavathi Rajendran also participated in the program.

ROTARACT

 The Rotaract club was formed in our college by Rtn. D.Thirumaran and inaugurated the club in the presence of Rtn. R.R.Manoharan, Assistant Governor, Thirupathur.  Rotary club of Gudiyattam in association with placement cell and Rotaract club of our college organized a campus drive in our college on 23.01.2016. Nearly 2000 students from various colleges participated and 670 students got selected. Nearly 30 companies participated and conducted the interview to the students.

YOUTH RED CROSS  Our YRC volunteers participated in elocution competition at DKM College, Vellore on 10.08.2015  On 12th August 2015 our volunteers attended “65th Geneva Conventions Day Celebration” at Vellore Red Cross Society.  Our YRC volunteers also participated in the district level YRC elocution competition at Vellore Red Cross Society on 12th August 2015.  Our YRC volunteers also participated in the Geneva conventions day celebration held at Rajagopal Polytechnic Gudiyattam on 03.09.2015.  On 6th October 2015 our YRC conducted a blood group identification camp for all I year students.

 About 500 students were benefited & rare blood groups were identified.  On 19th October 2015 our YRC conducted a one day camp at Poigai Red Cross oldage home & fulfilled their needs.  Our volunteers attended one day YRC orientation programme conducted by at Vellore Red Cross Society.  On 27th October 2015 our YRC received the “Best Performance Award” for YRC programme officer Prof.G.Raghuvarman among Thiruvalluvar University affiliated colleges for the academic year 2013-2014 at Thiruvalluvar University Serkkadu.  On 29th February 2016 our YRC conducted a one day camp at IELC (INDIAN EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH) school for Mentally Retarded kids at Pernambut & fulfilled their basic needs of this year.

PLACEMENT ACTIVITIES

 Placement cell has functioned very effectively and kudos to the Placement Officer Prof. D.Balaji. As many as 65 candidates of our college have been placed in good companies before they could leave the college. Congratulations.

 This should motivate other students and I wish all the outgoing student should receive placement order before their degrees.

 On behalf of placement cell during the academic year 2015-2016 many activities were conducted by Placement Cell.  Placement cell organized a Motivation Program for I year students on 6th July 2015, presented by Senthil Kumar of 3600 Academy.  Life insurance corporation of India, Gudiyattam has conducted a program for current final year students to create awareness about “Employment Opportunities in LIC” on 28th Sep 2015.  500 students from various departments of our college participated in job fair conducted by our Rotary Club, Gudiyattam in association with District Employment office on 23rd Jan 2016. Many of our college students were placed in various companies.  Our M.Sc., Chemistry and M.Com., students attended online test of SANMAR group of companies, at Sacred Heart‟s College, Tirupathur on 25th Jan 2016 and four of them were selected for the final HR interview.  Students of Computer Science participated in one session seminar about Internet Security in our college conducted by Redback – IT Solutions on 23rd Feb 2016.  ID Training was conducted by JCI Gudiyattam and their members on the title “SKY IS THE LIMIT”, which was held in our college on 27th Feb 2016.

NEW COURSES Except Business Administration and Microbiology, all other departments have Post Graduate and Research programs. We look forward to the affiliation order from the Thiruvalluvar University for Ph.D program in Commerce in this academic year itself. Our ambition is to convert this institution into a full-fledged Research Institution. That was the vision of our beloved founder Iyah who wished and lived for converting Gudiyattam into an educational hub where students can become qualified to the highest level at an affordable cost. I thank the Management for helping the poor students of this area to convert their aspirations into achievements. We are sure that this legacy will continue.
