Smartphones are essential tools of the freelance journalist’s trade, not just to make calls but to record both sound and video. With some guidance, recommended apps, and inexpensive but necessary gear, (and practice!) any journalist can become a multimedia producer, recording and editing soundbites and video clips on a smartphone, and sharing & uploading to social media & online. In this session, producer & trainer Aileen O’Meara will guide participants to record, trim & assemble a 3-shot video story, & upload online. Those attending this session must have a fully-charged up to date smartphone, enough memory to record 3 short video clips, and YouTube Capture (iPhone) or WeVideo (Android) free apps on their phones. Aileen will also demonstrate how to record, trim & upload an audio clip, and show her recommended budget- friendly mobile journalism equipment.

We understand that as working journalists everyone may not be able to attend all sessions. Freelance Forum NUJ Autumn 2016 DUBLIN For Photographers and Writers FREELANCE Supported by the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland
