"March 28, 1888: The Court appointed Commission to partition the land of Halawa, Ewa, Oahu, and approved on May 23 the report of the Commissioners. " Claim 118-B NR 111.1: Paki Claim #118 opposed by T.C.B. Rooke, husband of Grace Kamaikui. NT 2.2 "(paki 118)": Kepaa (w), sworn, says Kuoha is a relative and a friend; they two began to build a house, but Kuoha was expelled by Bold, and told not to build the house. Kuoha enclosed the houselot, and Kuoha built the first house. He gave the place to Kamaikui; I don't know the year. Honokaupu, sworn, says Kuoho lived there under Kamaikui for two or three years. Kekuanaoa, sworn, says he knows that Kamaikui's people lived there, and also heard that the houselot belonged to Paki. 159: Grace Kamaikui, daughter of John Young and Kaoanaeha, was born at Kawaihae, Kohala, Hawaii, Sept. 8, 1808. She was the wife of Keeaumoku (George Cox) at the time of his death in 1824 (Kamakau, 1961 Ruling 'Chiefs... p. 250) [Kamakau gives wrong date for Keeaumoku's death (R.C. p. 254); correct date was March 22, 1824]. Kamaikui married Dr. T.C.B. Rooke; no issue. She was the adoptive mother (makuahine hanai) of sister Fanny Kekelaokalani's daughter Emma Kaleleokalani. Kamaikui died July 24, 1866 (Obit. Kuokoa July 28, 1866 P 2 c 4). PROBATE 1223 (Ist CC, 1866) under "GraceKamaikui Rooke" Gives death date of July 25, 1866. "She made her mark on the will" says witness Mele [Kinau] Thompson "her maid servant. " H.N. Widemann, witness, says she devised her estate to her "elder sister" Fanny [Kekelaokalani] Young Naea, and after Fanny's death to her adopted daughter Emma [Fanny's natural daughter]
