A MESSAGE FROM YOUR CHAIRMAN

I would like to wish all South Essex Members a very Happy, Healthy, Prosperous and Covid free New Year I would like to thank Dave and Suzanne Gray for compiling the 2021 rally programme in what turned out to be challenging times. My first year has certainly been eventful. At the time of writing this we are still uncertain about what rallies will be able to run but we are presenting a full programme which will be monitored on a monthly basis. In 2020 we sadly lost our Secretary and friend, Phil, who was an exceptionally committed member of our great team who is greatly missed. I would like to thank Sue for stepping into this post. Please continue to support our Veteran Sports. All the previous members are standing , with the exception of Sid , who sadly passed away in October 2020. I would like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to my wife Penny for her support, also our committee members and their partners for their hard work and friendship. Working with these guys has been fun especially on our big rallies. However, now is the time to look to the future. At this stage we have no new blood in the committee room and I am fearful that unless this changes South Essex days could be numbered. So please give some serious thought to joining us for the future of your Centre. We have an excellent programme which I hope we will be able to follow and get back out onto the rally field as soon as rules allow. Until then, take care and stay safe. Will.

RALLY SECRETARY6 ’S MESSAGE

Well here we are at the end of my first year of Rally Secretary and now look- ing at my first Rally book, what a year it has been. Who would have ever expected the year we have had, cancelling Rallies like it was going out of fashion?

I am pleased to present to you, my first rally programme. This year we have many old favourites as well as some new rallies, with Holiday rallies in other Counties, some of these are new too. What lies instore for us is uncertain, hopefully these rallies will run. Should we find ourselves in lockdown or still under the laws and guidance from central Government and the Caravan and Motorhome Club, whereby the rallies cannot run, then they will be can- celled. Hopefully, it will not come to that. The other area where we seem to be struggling is getting Marshals. I know we aren’t getting any younger and health is affecting some of us now, and also it goes without saying, some people have done a lot in the past and I thank you for that. However, we cannot survive without people willing to run weekend and Holiday rallies.

I have tried to cater for all tastes in rallying. Hopefully, there is something for all in this book, as it is my intention for all to have a good time, and for you looking forward to getting out on rallies. Should we have a situation where social rallies can not run due to the current climate, I have a number of rally fields in reserve, so we could hopefully still get out and see friends from a safe distance. These would be like going down memory lane, the good old days. However, these rally fields could only be used when the season allows us to. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Marshals for their support in running rallies for 2021/2022, also I would like to thank various committee members for the support and guidance they have given me. It goes without saying however that all of the rallies in this book will only take place subject to Government and Covid 19 regulations.

A special THANK YOU goes to my Suzanne, for the undying help and support she has given me through the year.

Please also ensure that all relevant signage is used, whilst we are going through these very difficult times with Covid. We have the authorized paperwork and display items that we need to use. This is for insurance and legal requirements.

Without Marshals there would be no rallies. This is your chance, not only to see what is being planned for 2022, but to help keep our centre vibrant and active, to share the workload, whilst having a great time.

If you have any ideas for a rally, this is the ideal time to step forward. Alternatively, speak to Dave Gray beforehand, as much work goes into planning a rally year, and it is great to have input from members.

76 NEW RALLY VENUES

South Essex Centre has a good number of venues where we rally, but we are always on the lookout for more. These venues can be a field with a fresh water tap and an Elsan disposal point, or hard standing by the side of a village hall, in a pub car park, a school, or on a caravan site with full site amenities. As long as there is a fresh water supply, and a point for emptying our toilets, that is all that is needed to run a rally.

Any social on the field in a village hall or in a pub can be decided upon later.

If you know any venues like this but don’t know what to do next, Contact our Rally Secretary and he will be happy to talk to the land owner etc. should you wish.

As the finder of a venue you would be given first choice to use this facility, although it is not compulsory, so don’t be put off from suggesting this venue.
