Go, Blazers go!

Hockey and Teddy Bears!

One would think the two do not mix. But here in Kamloops it does!! The international students had an opportunity to attend two games of the local hockey team, the . On Friday November 15 2019 , the Blazers played against the and won the game with an excited finish of 1-0! On Saturday November 30 2019, the Blazers played against the and won the game 4-1! This was the hockey charity event hosting the . When the Blazers scored their first goal of the evening, the fans threw teddy bears onto the ice. It was a spectacular site! All the teddy bears were then donated to less fortunate children in Kamloops for Christmas.

Learn to Curl!

Curling is a sport that can make you feel like a true Canadian! On Saturday November 23 2019, the international students received a lesson on how to curl at the Kamloops Curling Club located in downtown Kamloops. There were two sessions held to accommodate this popular activity. Curling is a game of both skill and athleticism! All of our international students were up for the challenge!!

Sun Peaks Slopeside Ski Program!

On November 27 and November 29 2019, the international students participated in the Slopeside ski program at Sun Peaks ski resort. One hundred students attended per day and they had a choice to learn to ski or snowboard. Most of the students chose to learn to ski, as it is a bit easier. For many students this was the first time to see snow! There were some tears of happiness and wonder at the sight of snow. Within the city of Kamloops, there has been very little snowfall and the temperature has remained quite mild.
