Create WWF SmackDown modes! 2: Know Your Role was the first game in the SmackDown series to introduce an advanced Create-A-Superstar series that allows the player to create a character in more detail, as opposed to simply selecting preinstalled mixing and match patterns like the previous game. In addition, additional features were added, such as Create-A-Moveset, Create-A-Taunt and Create-A-Stable, which allowed up to 4 members. Just bring it to PlayStation 2. It was the last of six WWF games to be made for PlayStation. The content show, released just a few months after the release of the original WWF SmackDown!, Know Your Role proved successful for fans. Know your role has brought out more match conditions to attend. Keeping almost all the superstars of the previous game, the list of games also increased significantly and included many new stars such as Kurt Engle, Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero. Also included in this game was the ability to unlock superstars to play during the game in season mode, such as Stone Cold Steve Austin, Shawn Michaels and Mick Foley. The season mode has also been changed in this game. Along with removing pre-season mode from the original, Know Your Role has given more storylines and more matches for the show. These changes have received mixed reactions, with some proclaiming a greater variety of storylines in the game. although there were some flaws in the season mode, such as missed matches that were fought between two battling meters. Another problem was the long loading time required even for the most minor scenes, such as a wrestler walking down the hall. Create-A-Superstar mode has improved significantly compared to its predecessor. Taking ideas from WWF Attitude, fans can now put more detail into superstars such as facial features and attire. The original head, upper and lower body mode from the original can still be used in this game as well.

Honey, Master of Science Utah State University, 2020 Major Professor: Dr. Eric César Morales Program: American Studies This paper examines the shifting portrayals of Pacific Islanders in World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) across three generations. As both a popular and historically racially problematic venue, WWE’s politically incorrect programming has played an underappreciated and under examined role in representing the USA. Although 4 many different groups have been portrayed by gross stereotypes in WWE, this paper uses the family of Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson—the Samoan Dynasty—as a case study. The WWE originally presented Pacific Islanders using the most offensive stereotypes, and the first two generations of the Samoan Dynasty had to “play Indian” or cosign onto gross representations of their people to be recognized by American audiences unfamiliar with representations of Pacific Islanders.

Bluegrass Brawlers: The Story of Professional Wrestling in Louisville. Cosper, John ; Bolin, Kenny. This specific ISBN edition is currently not available. As the Attitude Era drew to a close in the early 2000s, the WWE already had an eye to the future. The stars who would succeed the Rock, Stone Cold, and the Undertaker were already well on their way to the big time, and Louisville, Kentucky had a front row seat to the future. They were all here – Cena, Orton, Batista, Lesnar. They were all on display every Wednesday night for free at Ohio Valley Wrestling’s Davis Arena. Alongside established stars like the Big Show and Mark Henry, the Superstars of Tomorrow trained under the watchful eye of Jim Cornette and Danny Davis, waiting for their moment. More would follow in their footsteps. Some were already close by, like the brash young heel lighting it up every week for Southern Indiana’s IWA Mid-South promotion, CM Punk. As stunning as that time in history now appears, it was only one of many golden wrestling eras for Louisville, Kentucky, a city that has always loved its fight sports. “Bluegrass Brawlers: The Story of Professional Wrestling in Louisville” covers them all, from the earliest days when wrestling was king to the vibrant independent scene of today. Beginning in 1880 with tales of circus stars and barn-storming grapplers, “Bluegrass Brawlers” chronicles the evolution of a sport and the city that embraced it.

Not many people know this, but I’ve always considered myself an artist of sorts. Ever since I was a young kid, I invariably find myself passing the time by doodling, drawing, and, on occasion, even painting. In the space between my paper and pencil, and in those moments when inspiration would strike, my imagination would run amok and these bigger-than-life personas - football players and comic book characters and, of course, professional wrestlers - would come to life. I wasn’t aware of this until much later, but for all those years my mother would quietly steal away my drawings, saving them for all prosperity, and perhaps giving her a way to relive all of those memories of me as a child. That’s exactly what happened to me when she showed me those old sketches of Iron Man and Walter Payton and Fred Flintstone and Hulk Hogan. I found myself instantly transported back to a time where things were simpler and characters were real and the art was pure. Travers Scott, Committee Chair Dr. Erin Ash Dr. Darren Linvill ABSTRACT For a long time, professional wrestling has existed on the outskirts of society, with the idea that it was just for college-aged men. With the rise of the popularity of the World Wrestling Entertainment promotion, professional wrestling entered the mainstream. Celebrities often appear at wrestling shows, and the WWE often hires mainstream musical artists to perform at their biggest shows, WrestleMania and Summer Slam. Despite this still-growing popularity, there still exists a gap between men’s wrestling and women’s wrestling. Often the women aren’t allowed long match times, and for the longest time sometimes weren’t even on the main shows.
