• Zadar is a town in northern Dalmatia and the center of Zadar County. It has a population of about 75,000. Due to its position in the middle part of the Adriatic, it is well connected with the rest of Croatia and easily accessible by land, air and sea. The city has a rich 3000 years old history. The city center is located on a peninsula that has been the target of numerous invaders over the centuries, repeatedly destroyed and robbed. Lush history has left many significant monuments that still adorn the city today. One of the most recognizable is certainly the church of St. Donat from the 9th century because of its specific cylindrical shape. Next to the church is the ancient Forum, the largest on the eastern side of the Adriatic. Another important church is the Zadar Cathedral of Sv. Stošije which is also the largest Dalmatian cathedral. Of the modern attractions stand out the Sea Organ and the Greeting to the Sun. • National Park Plitvice Lakes is the most famous and oldest national park in Croatia. In 1949 it was proclaimed the first national park in Croatia, and due to its beauty and particularities of travertine barrier formation, in 1979 it was included on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
