June 26, 2003 94.9 KLTY's ``Celebrate Freedom'' To Have First Ever Public Viewing of Dead Sea Scrolls Outside of a Museum Thursday, June 26, 2003 5:02 am PDT DALLAS market not identified: SALM DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 26, 2003--94.9 KLTY-FM, the leading contemporary Christian music station, announced a special display of an authentic fragment of the Dead Sea Scrolls dated to 200 B.C. to be held at "Celebrate Freedom" this Saturday, June 28. This will be the first ever U.S. public display outside of a museum. "Celebrate Freedom" is the largest Christian music concert in the U.S., with over 200,000 people expected to attend. The fragment will be displayed to promote the upcoming "Dead Sea Scrolls to the Forbidden Book" museum exhibit coming to the Biblical Arts Center in Dallas, Texas, beginning September 5, 2003. This once-in-a-lifetime collection of artifacts, manuscripts, and Bibles from around the world will come together to complete the history of the Bible. The fragment to be displayed at "Celebrate Freedom" is a piece of the Old Testament book of Isaiah, chapters 26 and 27, regarding the resurrection, "your dead shall live again and their bodies shall rise." Dr. William Noah, Exhibit Curator, and Lee Biondi, Exhibit Coordinator, with host a booth at "Celebrate Freedom" to answer questions about the scroll fragment and upcoming exhibit. Tickets will be raffled off throughout the day to concert goers who register at the booth. Free pictures with the scroll fragment will be taken for those who purchase exhibit tickets at "Celebrate Freedom." Adult tickets for the "Dead Sea Scrolls to the Forbidden Book" museum exhibit are $19.00. Hosted by Salem's 94.9 KLTY and Interstate Batteries, "Celebrate Freedom 2003" will open its gates at 7:00 a.m., with the concert beginning at 8:15 a.m. and concluding at 11:00 p.m. This all-day free event will feature performances by Third Day, Avalon, Jaci Velasquez, Jars of Clay, Phillips, Craig and Dean, Mark Scultz, Rebecca St. James, ZOEgirl, 4Him, Newsong, Chris Rice, Anointed, Kristy Starling, Derek Webb (formerly of Caedmon's Call), Nate Sallie, and Sandi Patty. Snow/Ice: Is School Open or Closed? Birdville ISD is dedicated to the safety of students and staff. With the onset of winter, and the threat of snow and ice, it is important for the BISD community to understand how the decision is made regarding delaying or closing school. When the threat of snow or ice is forecast, BISD’s superintendent, associate superintendents and the director of transportation have established a plan to determine whether schools will be open, delayed or closed. The district attempts to make a decision about delaying or closing as soon as possible. If the superintendent determines to delay or close school, the district’s phone calling system will be activated and the major radio and television stations will be notified. Also, the district will post this information on the district’s Web site, Facebook, Twitter and B-News. BISD only posts these notifications if school is delayed or closed— not if it is open as usual. If school is in session or if it is delayed and parents do not feel that it is safe to transport their child to school, it is their right as parents to keep them home. If students do not provide a parent note, their absence will not be excused.
