STEIGER & QAUDTRAC 2 PUT A MASTER OF PRODUCTIVITY IN YOUR FIELD. Your life is all about growing things: it’s what you do. Crops, livestock, your business, your family. Steiger and Quadtrac tractors are designed to help with challenges that brings, so you’re perfectly prepared to tackle every job, in complete comfort, whatever the conditions, enabling you to get more done with your day. Case IH is committed to helping you maximize the things that matter – your yield potential, INTRODUCTION your return on investment, the time you can spend at home rather than at work. UNMATCHED 4WD ADAPTABILITY. The updated Steiger and Quadtrac family now has nine models ranging from 406 to 608 hp to choose from with both track and wheel configurations customized for tillage, planting, seeding, nutrient placement, land leveling and tile plow operations. And no matter which Steiger or Quadtrac you operate, you will see the advantages of the innovative Case IH design for unparalleled power to the ground and unprecedented durability. BEING A STEP AHEAD There may be imitators, but there’s no equal to Steiger and Quadtrac tractors. The strength of Steiger wheeled machines and the exclusive and advanced design of the Quadtrac set Case IH apart in the high-horsepower sector. Our engineering advances behind each new generation of Steiger and Quadtrac tractors place ever greater emphasis on the unceasing challenges of soil compaction and damage, narrower working windows and unpredictable weather conditions, without losing sight of the need for power and productivity. And with Quadtrac in particular, features such as four independently-powered tracks, articulated steering and tri-point oscillation mean you can get into your fields sooner and stay longer than others.

  • STEIGER History
Historical Data STEIGER History John Steiger and his sons, Douglas and Maurice, were successful farmers near Red Lake Falls, Minnesota. They needed a larger tractor in their farming operation that was not available commercially. They built the first STEIGER tractor in their barn on the Steiger farm during the winter of 1957. The first tractor weighed 15,000 pounds, was made mostly from salvaged parts, and was powered by a Detroit 6-71 Diesel Engine. It ran well enough to accumulate 10,000 hours of field time in just 10 years. This tractor is currently displayed in a West Fargo, North Dakota, museum. The second tractor was much smaller and was powered by a 3-71N Detroit Diesel Engine. The first tractor commercially sold by Steiger, only six units were produced. One of these units is on display at the West Fargo museum. In 1963, the Steigers became serious about building tractors and designed a series of units for sale. Douglas Steiger served as the chief designer while Maurice Steiger headed production. A marketing agent, Earl Christensen, was assigned in Elbow Lake, Minnesota. Earl later became one of the first STEIGER dealers. A total of five agricultural tractor models were built in the barn and sold commercially. They were (in order of release): 0RGHO (QJLQH (QJLQH#+3 7UDQVPLVVLRQ $[OHV# 2200 6V71N Detroit 238 Spicer 9-speed Dana 1700 6V53N Detroit 216 Spicer 9-speed Clark 1250 4-53N Detroit 130 est. Funk 4-speed Clark 3300 8V71N Detroit 328 Clark 8-speed Clark 800 Tiger V903 Cummins 300 Spicer 10-speed Dana These tractors all had different frame sizes, in tune with the Steiger design theory—to match the correct size frame to engine horsepower size.

  • Farm Equipment Industry Performance: Past and Future
International Food and Agribusiness Management Review 3 (2000) 71–84 Farm equipment industry performance: past and future Bruce Bjornson*,1, Jason Klipfel1 University of Missouri, 125-B Mumford Hall, Columbia, Missouri 65211-6200, USA Received 22 August 2000; accepted 22 August 2000 Abstract This paper assesses the agricultural equipment industry through the perspective of the three leading firms in the United States. It reviews the salient events of the 1990s and relates the business environment to the firms’ financial performance. It then assesses the factors likely to impact perfor- mance in the future, drawing on lessons from historical performance and on new environmental factors. The firms’ capital market valuations appear consistent with the expectation that farm equip- ment firms will resume growth after the farm recession. © 2001 Elsevier Science Inc. All rights reserved. Key Word: Farm equipment industry 1. Introduction Agricultural equipment has been a major contributor to the agri-food sector throughout U.S. history. It has played a major part in the modernization of agriculture, consistently improving farm productivity and commanding an increasing share of the economic value added to farm produce. While agricultural equipment contributes a significant share of the value created in the agri-food sector, an important question is how much value the agricul- tural equipment industry will contribute to the farm and food sector in the future. The purpose of this paper is to examine trends and fundamental uncertainties in the business * Corresponding author. Tel.: ϩ1-573-882-0155; fax: ϩ1-573-882-3958. E-mail address: [email protected] (B. • TRACTORS 375 - 628 HP ALWAYS a STEP AHEAD First with Four Tracks - Now First with CVT
QUADTRAC TRACTORS 375 - 628 HP ALWAYS A STEP AHEAD First with four tracks - now first with CVT Case IH has long been a leader in tractor technology – ‘firsts’ are our hallmark. Through our Steiger heritage we led the way in mass-production of 4WD articulated tractors. With the unveiling of Quadtrac in 1997 we were the first to introduce a four-tracked articulated high-horsepower tractor. And with the introduction twenty years ago of the CVXDrive transmission, we were among the pioneers of continuously-variable transmissions for tractors. Now those achievements have been combined to create a new ‘first’ – wheeled and tracked articulated high-horsepower tractors with CVT. That means proven technology from Case IH, now blended to create the ultimate power package. So whether your operation requires a tracked or wheeled high-horsepower tractor, with PowerDrive or CVXDrive Case IH has a Steiger or Quadtrac model that will precisely fit your needs and bring more productivity, greater efficiency and reduced fuel bills to your business. STEIGER AND QUADTRAC. INTRODUCING CVXDRIVE. 2 3 MAXIMUM PRODUCTIVITY... ... to maximise your profitability 4 Your life is all about growing things: it’s what you do.
