Introduction This document contains information on previous releases of Pointsec Mobile Smartphone in the 3.X.X series. The information included here is based on the Release Notes for each release. For information on releases in the 2.X.X series, please see the documentation accompanying that product. Note that in the 3.1.0 release, the product name is changed to Pointsec Mobile Smartphone (Windows Mobile), and is also referred to as Pointsec Mobile and Pointsec. Versions prior to 3.1.0 are referred to as Pointsec for Smartphone (Windows Mobile 5).

Devices No Longer Supported The HTC S620 device is no longer supported on the Windows Mobile 5 platform. To upgrade to this version of Pointsec Mobile Smartphone, you will need to upgrade HTC S620 Windows Mobile 5 devices to Windows Mobile 6 first. For more information, please contact HTC support.

New settings The following table shows the new settings included in this release:

Table 1 New settings Setting Description Authentication type You can select which PicturePIN/password keypad to use to access removable media depending on how you configure Authentication Type. Enable removable media password You can select whether users must use a password to access removable media.

Users who use passwords for removable media are also allowed to change the password according to the password policies you configure.

When password is enabled, users may move the removable media device between different devices with Pointsec Mobile installed. Inclusion/exclusion lists These lists define what information to encrypt and what not to encrypt on Pointsec-protected removable media. For more information on these lists, see the chapter Overview of Pointsec Mobile Settings in the Pointsec Mobile Smartphone (Windows Mobile) Administrator's Guide. Note: In cases in which removable media has been used in another device that has a different inclusion/exclusion list policy, the user can choose to apply the security policy that exists on his or her device. This applies the inclusion/exclusion list that you configured for the user's device. When the user applies the security policy, non-encrypted files on the inclusion list will be encrypted and encrypted files on the exclusion list will be decrypted. Encryption policy You can specify whether users can encrypt removable media, whether removable media must be encrypted, or you can forbid the encryption of removable media. Decryption policy You can select whether to allow a user to decrypt removable media. Enable Single Sign-On (SSO) If SSO is enabled, the user is automatically authenticated removable media after having entered the device PIN/password; he or she does not need to enter the removable media PIN/password as well. Removable Media PIN/PicturePIN/Password Properties: 1. Minimum length Specifies the minimum number of characters or pictures allowed for the removable media PIN/PicturePIN/Password. 2. Maximum identical characters Specifies the maximum number of occurrences of any character/picture in the removable media PIN/PicturePIN/Password. 3. Maximum identical consecutive characters Specifies the maximum number of identical consecutive characters/pictures in the removable media PIN/PicturePIN/Password. 4. Maximum number of characters in ordered Specifies the maximum number of consecutive characters in sequence an ordered sequence in the removable media password. 5. Minimum number of special characters Specifies the minimum number of special characters required in the removable media password. 6. Minimum number of letters Specifies the minimum number of letters required in the removable media password. 7. Minimum number of digits Specifies the minimum number of digits required in the removable media password. 8. Require upper and lower case Specifies whether to require removable media passwords to contain both upper and lower case characters. 9. Allow digit prefix/suffix Specifies whether to allow removable media passwords to start and end with a digit.

Temporary encryption Pointsec Mobile now temporarily encrypts new information written to the device during times when you are not authenticated. The information is then decrypted and encrypted normally when you authenticate to Pointsec Mobile, making the information available to all applications as usual.

Remote Help using SmartCenter for Pointsec - webRH Pointsec Mobile Module You can configure Pointsec Mobile to use SmartCenter webRH, a separate Pointsec product, to provide Remote Help to users instead of the standard Remote Help functionality. For information on using SmartCenter webRH, see the SmartCenter for Pointsec - webRH Pointsec Mobile Module Administrator's Guide.

Enhanced installation behavior To increase overall stability and usability, we have enhanced the robustness of the installation.

Improved installation set display and descriptions • When you create or update an installation set, you can now choose to show or hide advanced settings. This allows you to view and configure the basic settings quickly and display the advanced settings only when you need them. For a complete list of the advanced settings, see the section Miscellaneous in the chapter Overview of Pointsec Mobile Settings in the Pointsec Mobile Smartphone (Windows Mobile) Administrator's Guide. • Some settings have been moved to more intuitive locations and others have been renamed in the install setting display. These changes appear in the chapter Overview of Pointsec Mobile Settings in the Pointsec Mobile Smartphone (Windows Mobile) Administrator's Guide and are summarized in the following table:

For more information, see in the chapter Overview of Pointsec Mobile in the Pointsec Mobile Smartphone (Windows Mobile) Administrator's Guide. • When you update a profile, you can place it either in the Update folder that Pointsec Mobile checks every time you synchronize the device with a workstation, or you can place it directly on the device in the \temp folder or the \Program Files\Pointsec\Profiles folder. • The device now soft-resets automatically after Pointsec Mobile is installed on it. • ActiveSync reactivated after authentication: When the device is connected by cable to a PC, an ActiveSync connection is activated after successful authentication without the user having to remove and re-insert the cable.

• The device can now be synchronized with ActiveSync while Pointsec Mobile is locked. With this new "safe synchronization" feature, the ActiveSync connection must be made before Pointsec Mobile was locked, and Pointsec Mobile must remain locked while the connection is active. If a connection attempt is made after Pointsec is locked, the connection will be denied until Pointsec is successfully authenticated. • Device event logging: Pointsec Mobile supports event logging on a device. See Late-Breaking Documentation in this document for details. • Third-party applications that have been tested and verified as interoperable with Pointsec Mobile are now included in the Trusted Applications list by default.

Logical authentication prompts Layout of PicturePIN and numeric PIN authentication prompts on both portrait- and landscape-oriented screens corresponds directly to the phones' keyboard buttons, thus improving usability.

Authentication screens are cleared after 10 seconds The PicturePIN/password screens are now cleared of any entries when the device sits idle for 10 seconds, preventing an unauthorized user from simply pressing OK to authenticate to an unattended device.
