Assistant Deputy Minister - Open Government Division, Service Alberta 2016-2018

Led an incredibly rewarding and exceptionally complex division where competing, yet complimentary, information imperatives interact: access, protection, analytics and sharing of information to maximize decision-making and effective governmental services delivery – Achieved by leveraging the talents of a great visionary and enthusiastic team. Three main branches, Information Management, Information Access and Protection and Open Government (Open Portal and Enterprise Data Analytics), were instrumental in supporting the GoA Information Management and Technology Strategy. Key to this role was adapting to the varying demands, providing balanced guidance and directions, customized support while educating and bringing awareness to the necessity of working as one government and one approach. Along with an exceptional team of professionals (5000: led the planning, programming and delivery of $2B of capital provincial highway projects and the management of highway maintenance and rehabilitation throughout the province; Major Capital Programs with key projects such as the South West Ring Road ($5B), Springbank off-stream Reservoir project and Fort McMurray Road construction. Also responsible for the management of municipal transportation grants such as GreenTRIP (Green Transit Incentives Program) and water/wastewater programs and transport engineering services such as permitting, weights and dimensions of loads, and the management of Alberta’s high load corridor. Senior Western Engineer - Area Engineer Officer (Regional Engineer VP) (LFWA) Headquarters, , AB 2009-2013

Lead and advise on all Army Engineering matters (Operations, Training, HR, Real Property and associated utilities, Project Management, Budgeting and Business Planning) for LFWA (provinces of BC, AB, SK, MB and Northern Territories). Includes the management of an annual budget of $120M, 1500 facilities ($3B) and 600 military and public servants. Extensive synchronization and networking are also required with other departments and outside agencies. Retired at the senior executive rank of Lieutenant-Colonel.
