Following his 11-year playing career “Swanny” earned a Communication degree at CCSU, leading to a nine-year run working as the K-Zone Producer for ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball. Along with his time at ESPN he developed Swanson’s Professional Baseball Instruction, LLC, which now enters its 14th season in business. About to begin his third year back at ESPN since his time with the Indians, and 12th overall he’ll continue to produce the KZone and Pitcher Scouting Reports for the Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday Night telecasts, working with former Major Leaguers Cy Young winner Rick Sutcliffe, Aaron Boone, Eduardo Perez, Dallas Braden, Doug Glanville, and former USA Olympian Softball star Jessica Mendoza. Through the SB program Swanny and his staff have worked with more than 90 students who have gone on to play at the collegiate level, along with 10 students who played, or are currently playing at the professional level. Berlin’s own Matt Carasiti (MLB-Colorado Rockies) & Anthony Marzi (NB Bees), Southington’s Sal Romano (Cincinnati Reds), Simsbury’s Mike Gibbons (NY Mets) are the most recent Swanson students/instructors who are currently playing professionally. In 1977, the year he received his Masters Degree in Education and Recreation, he was hired to teach at East Windsor High School. In 1984, Corkum decided that the best way to maintain his connection between teaching and baseball was to create his own baseball school. • Why Would Bruce Arians Be a Good Choice As a Coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers?
Why Would Bruce Arians Be A Good Choice As A Coach For The Tampa Bay Buccaneers? Starting out in 2003 as the Pittsburgh Steelers' wide receivers coach, Bruce Arians has come a long way and made quite a name for himself as one of the best. Arians left the Steelers when his contract ended; he was offensive coordinator when he left. Bruce Arians became the offensive coordinator for the Indianapolis Colts on the 28th of January, 2012. Later that year, 1st of October 2012, he became the interim head coach, because Chuck Pagano became unfit. Arians had a huge part to play in the team's winnings and records in the years following. Arians led the Colts to a 9-3 record, which is part of one of the biggest one-season turnarounds in NFL history. The nine wins are the most by an interim head coach in NFL history. Pagano returned as head coach on December 24th 2012, with Arians returning to his old position in the team as offensive coordinator. Bruce Arians was named the 2012 AP Coach of the year making him the first head interim head coach to win the award. Arians joined the Arizona Cardinals as head coach in January 2013. Since 1925, Arians is the first coach to record at least nine wins in his first season. Cardinals were the #5 seed in the NFC in 2014. Arians became the AP Head Coach of the year again in 2015. Arians led the Cardinals to a franchise record in season wins. Looking at his past experience as coach, Bruce Arians is very capable of guiding and leading his team to victories and endless touchdowns.

  • A's News Clips, Friday, June 18, 2010 Oakland A's Bullpen Lets Dallas Braden Down in Late Loss to Chicago Cubs by Joe Stiglich
A’s News Clips, Friday, June 18, 2010 Oakland A's bullpen lets Dallas Braden down in late loss to Chicago Cubs By Joe Stiglich, Oakland Tribune Dallas Braden was lined up for a well-deserved win, and the A's were poised to leave the Windy City with a series victory. That script never played out on a picturesque Thursday afternoon at Wrigley Field. Oakland's bullpen laid an egg in the late innings, and Kosuke Fukudome's walk-off RBI single off Jerry Blevins in the bottom of the ninth gave the Chicago Cubs a 3-2 victory in front of 36,942 fans. "That's a tough way to lose," A's second baseman Mark Ellis said. "Give (the Cubs) credit. They had some good at-bats there at the end." This one had to sting on several fronts for the A's. They could have carried some momentum into St. Louis as they begin a challenging weekend series against the Cardinals tonight.
