Known issue with Cumulative Update for versions 1607 and 1703

The following Microsoft Updates, released on 5/9/2017, cause a critical failure of certain software applications, including SAFE Block Win8/10 or SAFE Block Win10 To Go when running on Windows 10 systems. This issue does not exist on current or .x Operating Systems and only affects Windows 10 and Windows 10 To Go versions 1607 and 1703.

Problem updates: 2017-05 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1607 for x64-based Systems (KB4019472) 2017-05 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1703 for x64-based Systems (KB4016871)

As a temporary fix, you must revert your Windows 10 system to its previous state by uninstalling the above cumulative update. To uninstall this update, click on your start button, then click on the “gear” icon, and then click on “updates and security” and select “update history”. On the update history screen, if your system has successfully installed the above listed cumulative updates, you must click on “uninstall updates” and remove the cumulative update and reboot your system.

To prevent your system from automatically attempting to reinstall this cumulative update, you should use the Microsoft Show/Hide Updates tool here: http://download.microsoft.com/download/f/2/2/f22d5fdb-59cd-4275-8c95- 1be17bf70b21/wushowhide.diagcab

Using the below instructions, you can set your Windows 10 system to prevent reinstalling this cumulative update.

1) Run the Show/Hide updates tool and click on Hide Updates (note that this must be done after uninstalling or prior to installing the desired update.)

2) Check the box for 2017-05 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1607 for x64-based Systems (KB4019472) or 2017-05 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1703 for x64- based Systems (KB4016871) and click next.

3) Click “Close”

Your system will now prevent the installation of this cumulative update until you re-enable it and SAFE Block will now function as expected.
