Vision

Roxwell CE Primary School is a Church School and the work within our school is underpinned by Christian values.

We believe it is essential to foster a spiritual and moral view of life in all our children and we aim to provide a high quality of education, within a safe, stimulating Christian environment.

Together, with a sense of worth and a genuine concern for others, we aim to give every child the opportunity to develop academically, spiritually and socially to their full potential, not only in academic work but also in creative, practical, sporting and social activities, so as to prepare them to understand and live a healthy and productive lifestyle.

Consequently all our school policies are developed with our Christian Vision at the forefront of our thinking and we strive to ensure that each and every child is placed first in whatever is planned, considered and completed.

Admissions

Roxwell C of E Primary School can cater for 105 children from age four plus to eleven years. The school serves the children of Roxwell, Margaret Roding, , , Willingale and West . Those from outside this area will be accepted provided places are available and parents wish their children to attend a Christian School. We follow the agreed County Admissions Policy, all decisions regarding placements are decided by the County Admissions Planning Team.

Any parents considering our school for their child are encouraged to visit us. Please make an appointment via the School Office and the Headteacher will be happy to show you around and share time with you and answer any questions you may have.

Since September 2012, all Foundation Stage children have been admitted, full time, in September of the year that they are five. Where there is parental request for a part time place, this will be as agreed by Miss Kendell, the Headteacher. The admissions arrangements for Roxwell C of E Primary School are in accordance with the Education Authority’s policy as set out in the booklet entitled Primary Education in Essex. There is no guarantee of a place for children living in the priority admissions area. In the event of over subscriptions, places will be allocated according to the Essex Education Authority’s guidelines.

Admissions of Older Children

We accept older children throughout the school year when there is a suitable place. When a year group is oversubscribed, priority is given in accordance with the LA’s Admissions Policy as set out for Reception children.

Withdrawal of an Offer

If a school place has been secured through false information or has been offered in error, the offer of the place may be withdrawn.

Waiting Lists

Essex County Council will hold waiting lists in priority order, according to the Schools Admission Criteria.

Late Applications

Applications received after the published closing date will be treated as late applications unless there is evidence to show that the application could not have reasonably been made on time. All late applications will be considered by a Local Authority (LA) panel to ascertain whether exceptional circumstances for late submission exist. Where that is deemed to be the case the application will be treated as ‘on time’. Late applications will be given a lower priority and will not be assured a place even if the application is for a place at a school which normally guarantees places for children residing in the priority admissions area. Where a school is over- subscribed late applications will be refused and ranked according to the admission criteria in any waiting list held for the particular school. Where the school normally has a guaranteed place for children residing in the priority admissions area, which does not apply because the application is late, priority will be given to siblings living in the priority admissions area then others residing within the priority admissions area , those living closest being given highest priority. After that, priority will be given to other children in accordance with the admission criteria. Where none of the preferences of a late application can be met, a place will be allocated at the nearest school with places available.

Changing Primary Schools

The opportunity to transfer depends on places being available at the preferred school. If approved, a place is usually made available at the start of the following term. A child should not be withdrawn from the current school until a place has been secured elsewhere.

In cases where a child moves into a district area (proof of address required) and as a result of the move the child would be without a school place, the application will be dealt with immediately.

Appeals against Admission Decisions

Parents have the right to appeal against admissions decision to an Independent Appeal Panel. Information about how to appeal against a refusal of a school place will be sent with the offer pack. Notice of appeal should be sent to the Clerk to the Independent Appeal Panel, PO Box 11, Chelmsford, CM1 1LX.
