WHITEHORSE – AURORA VIEWING

AURORA VIEWING TOUR (4 HOURS) The Aurora Borealis is one of the most beautiful natural phenomena of northern Canada. The main viewing base is located only 20 minutes outside of town, in an area with no artificial lights around to provide the perfect viewing conditions. Passengers are picked up at their downtown hotel for transfer to the base and the heated yurts. WHITEHORSE – SIGHTSEEING

WHITE PASS & YUKON ROUTE FROM WHITEHORSE TO SKAGWAY RETURN (10 HOURS) This excursion will not operate in 2021 Participants board a motorcoach for a scenic trip along the South Klondike Highway to Fraser, British Columbia. Upon arrival, the tour transfers to the world-famous narrow gauge White Pass & Yukon Route Railway to journey through areas that still echo with the hardships and fortunes of the past such as Glacier Gorge, Dead Horse Gulch and Bridal Veil Falls . The route travels over the White Pass Summit, offering views from a height of 880 m before ending in Skagway, Alaska. While in Skagway, see where the Chilkoot Trail led the over 40,000 gold-rush ‘stampeders’ at the end of the 19th century and some of the often notorious establishments they visited in town . WHITEHORSE – CANOEING & KAYAKING

EAGLE CANOE OR KAYAK TRIP (4 HOURS) This guided Yukon River tour begins downtown Whitehorse and finishes at the confluence of the Takhini River. After leaving the city behind, the current starts to pick up and the channel begins to widen. Lined by high cut banks, it’s easy to see how the powerful Yukon River has shaped the landscape over the last few thousand years. This history has resulted in a diverse and ecologically rich landscape which provides significant wildlife habitats. Birds, fish, large predators, semi-aquatic mammals, and ungulates all call this area home. As a result, paddlers will have plenty of opportunities for wildlife viewing as they travel downriver. WHITEHORSE – ICE FISHING

HALF-DAY ICE FISHING (4 HOURS) During the winter, ice fishing is a popular sport for locals and visitors alike. Not only does the Yukon have some of the best fishing in Canada, but it also offers visitors the chance to experience the pristine natural environment. Most of the offered ice fishing tours take place in the scenic backcountry just outside of Whitehorse. Upon arrival at the lake, participants will fill out their one-day fishing license and our guide will explain the basics of ice fishing and give participants the opportunity to drill their own ice fishing hole with an ice auger. With that done, guests can sit back, relax, and enjoy a beautiful winter’s day while waiting for the fish to bite. On colder winter days, passengers will have the option to warm up in our custom-built ice fishing hut around a cozy woodstove. Snacks and hot drinks are supplied during our half day tours. THE GREAT BEARS OF BUTE TOUR INCLUDING LUNCH (7-8 HOURS) Join your Indigenous guide in Campbell River to begin an exciting full day tour that begins with a 2-hour journey through the Salish Sea and lands of First Peoples into Bute Inlet. We’ll engage in respectful wildlife viewing while you discover the people, land and waters of this truly spectacular part of Canada. PEOPLE, WATER, LAND TOUR INCLUDING LUNCH (8 HOURS) The onset of spring and summer brings Black Bears and Grizzly Bears down from the coastal mountains to valley floors in their never-ending quest for food. You begin your day by meeting your First Nation guide where you will travel aboard a comfortable, heated boat through the Salish Sea, while waiting for its residents that include humpback whales, orcas, sea lions, porpoises, dolphins, bald eagle and other seabirds. Your adventure continues in Orford Bay and includes an interpretive walk, exploring the estuary by boat, ethnobotany journey that explores how local plants were used traditionally to create medicines, clothing and shelter, Estuary Tower to search for wildlife, including visiting bears who come down to feed. You will then board a zodiac-style boat to explore the estuary for a closer look from the water where guides will search for black bears, grizzly bears, Roosevelt elk, otters, beavers and more. CAMPBELL RIVER – WILDLIFE VIEWING

RAFTING AND SNORKEL WITH SALMON TOUR (3.5 HOURS) This 3 to 3.5 hour tour is unique to the Campbell River. Each year thousands of salmon return to the river from which they started. The crystal clear water allows for easy viewing of the salmon in the river environment from the raft – or don a wetsuit and snorkel in the river pools teeming with thousands of salmon. All five species of Pacific salmon can be found here over the course of the run, starting with pinks in late July. Then chinook, coho, and sockeye arrive through August and September with the chum salmon the last arrivals of the season. If passengers are lucky they may even see a steelhead trout holding in one of the pools. Throughout the tour, rafters have seen black bear, deer, beaver, weasel, eagles, mergansers, kingfishers, seals and other wildlife on this tour.
