Your pathway to university Students who successfully complete the TAFY programme will be able to apply to The University of Auckland, AUT University and Massey University. Students may also apply for other New Zealand universities, and universities in Australia, UK or USA.

Small group tutorials Small group tutorials are timetabled weekly for each subject and will provide students with individual and small group access to academic staff.

Free IELTS lessons While students are studying within the TAFY programme, it is important they continue practising and developing their English language. Taylors College offers IELTS lessons free of charge to assist students with their studies.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Students who have studied at Level 3 in New Zealand or overseas may apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). An RPL application must be made when applying by submitting a letter stating the RPL intentions. A member of the Taylors College RPL team will review the application and advise the applicant of the outcome within one week of submission. A maximum of 20 weeks of credit will be given to any applicant.

Mentor groups Each student is allocated a Mentor Group teacher who offers pastoral care and academic advice.

Before embarking on your Foundation Studies programme, you can prepare yourself academically with a Pre-Foundation programme. In addition to a focused programme of academic subjects, you are provided with the ongoing opportunity to improve and develop your English language skills.

Pre-Foundation pathway Pre-Foundation is the recommended programme for students who have not gained the academic entrance into the Foundation Year. This provides you with an alternative entry point should you wish to move on to tertiary education. Upon successful completion of the Pre-Foundation Studies, you will be able to enter the Foundation Year at the next intake. One-to-one assistance Students in the Pre-Foundation Studies will find that one-to-one assistance is readily available. The New Zealand Vice-Chancellors Committee Approval The Taylors Auckland Foundation Year (TAFY) is approved and recognised by the New Zealand Vice-Chancellors Committee (NZVCC). NZVCC approval means that every university in New Zealand will be prepared to consider an application from a person who has completed the TAFY programme. Taylors College has been approved by NZVCC to accept International, New Zealand Permanent Residents (PRs) and domestic students into TAFY. To be considered for admission to a New Zealand university students must have achieved a minimum of 55% in each of three academic subjects (excluding English) and have an IELTS (Academic) 6.0 score overall, with a minimum of 5.5 in each band.
