We Will Make AAUA’s Agric Faculty Unique in the Country, VC pledges . As Galilea Leadership Institute Pays Courtesy Call

The Vice Chancellor, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, , , Prof. Igbekele Ajibefun, has expressed his desire to make the school’s newly established Faculty of Agriculture different from its kind in the country.

Prof. Ajibefun said this while receiving the President of Galilea Leadership Institute, GLI, Dr. Joseph Shevel, who paid a courtesy call to the Vice Chancellor in his office on Tuesday penultimate week.

The Vice Chancellor, who promised to invest in capacity building, appreciated the Institute for its love and interest in AAUA and its proprietor, the government of Ondo state, and pledged a healthy partnership between the University and the Institute.

VC said,” We want to want to thank you for your interest and love, not only for this university but also for Ondo state as a whole. I want to assure you that the collaboration between AAUA and the leadership Institute of Galilea will be strengthened. We are going to continue to invest in capacity building and we are going to look into new areas of partnership. We know that Israel is a country with a hi-tech, particularly in the area of Agriculture which will interest our university. We have just started a faculty of Agriculture and we want to make it different from any other faculty of Agriculture in the country. We are going to see to this, and your institute will be of assistance in doing this.”

The President of the institute explained that Galilea Leadership Institute will play its own role in the partnership by helping with capacity building and ensuring that output is multiplied in a couple of years.

Dr. Shevel said, “We in Galilea can contribute to the development of Ondo state through capacity building, and in two years, we are going to double the output of the workforce. Firstly, in the field of Agriculture by selecting professionals in the various fields of Agriculture, for instance, in fishery or zoology, they come to Galilea; we train them for three months and make them experts. So when they return, they will train farmers and other interested people on how to do the job better. And for the next two years, we will continue to send experts down every month to make sure that the trainees here are well trained and that their trainers are doing the right thing, and also to avail them of latest trend and support. By so doing, output can be doubled in two years. It is possible.”

While fielding questions from the Information Unit of the University, Dr. Shevel described the school’s Senate Building as fantastic and enthused that the Vice Chancellor will make the University a leading institution. “Looking at the Senate Building, it is fantastic. Not only that, the new Vice Chancellor did partner with us when he was at the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic as Rector, and that contributed to the ranking of the Polytechnic as the best state owned in the country. Now that he is here as the Vice Chancellor, I am sure he is going to make the University a leading institution in the country.

It was a bad omen for us, so we went to Abuja, through passionate advocacy and meeting with the NUC to midwife between the university and the institute, it was agreed that we should continue with the affiliation until the crop of students we have admitted all graduate. We would like for the new Vice Chancellor and his team to consider continuing with the affiliation.

She said; “I welcome you and your team to Adekunle Ajasin University, on behalf of our VC, Professor Igbekele Ajibefun, I want to appreciate your coming and comments. Maybe first of all I should use this opportunity on behalf of the VC to congratulate Barrister Mrs Uzamere on her appointment as the first female Rector of the Institute. I congratulate you ma and I pray that the Lord will sustain you in that position and help you throughout your tenure to achieve success for that institution.”

“You noted that your institution had an amiable relationship with our University under the past VC, so I on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Igbekele Ajibefun who is unavoidably absent due to exigencies of work want to assure you that the good relationship will continue.”
